Don't give up on your dream like I did because some retarded 5th grade teacher told me I wasn't good enough at long division to fly. Apply yourself and you will be fine.

Sierra Hotel! Love these jams. At 1:45 it's cool to see your wingman in the mirror, slide into echelon formation. I can tell you've spent a lot of time studying your checklists. Your cadence of calling out the items shows the Navy way of flying. Keep them coming, BRAVO ZULU!

I think Growler jams does a stellar job in showing the public (i.e., the non-carrier pilot crowd) a real life perspective of a naval aviator; via the ability to put them (virtually) in the cockpit for a ride along. Very insightful, with a humble, straight forward narrative given in each episode. *Well done!! Keep 'em coming!! /JH

50 years since I was there with pilots from multiple squadrons flying 5-6 hops a day trying to get our training done before end of fiscal year. Last hop would end up North Island, where this Jersey boy would learn that only milk would put out a Mexican fire. Truly appreciate your calm smooth voice.

    • @markburkley42
      @markburkley42 ปีที่แล้ว +1

El Centro was the beginning of the end for me. Pulling off target for the 4th time , on the 4th hop of the day, lefthand pattern, I hear a voice say "Mark, look around now." Look to my left and see the TA-4 who is supposed to be behind me and the back of a white helmet. Leveled the wings, extra lift, and he slid beneath me. I don't know who that voice was saving that day..., me, the other pilot, or the "safety" officer's career. No debrief, never talked to either. I'm slow to 'burn' until I think things through, but by that time we were on to the 5th hop of the day. I was far from perfect with 3 instances where I lost concentration. wrong rw, ADF approach, and worst a near ATS at Nellis. But my orders in '73 were to become an ATC and head back to NAS Kingsville. Had very little self confidence most of my life and the idea of possibly becoming an instructor broke what little I had then. I DOR'd. What I'm most proud of, putting my aircraft on the 3 wire 10/11. This is where I get to say, "If I only knew then what I know now." 'fingers and toes' that's exactly how I thought of flying smoothly.

I wish my cousin, who flew more than 200 missions in P-47s against the Nazi forces in WW2, could watch these wonderful videos, too. He remained in the USAF after that war rising to the rank of Lt. General. Before becoming a general officer, he got to fly nearly every fighter the USAF ever had. While he never talked about his work in the war, he always told me how much he loved flying those airplanes. I just recently found your videos and I just wanted to tell you I really enjoy them. Your commentary is not only informative but humorous which is awesome.
This video hits home with me, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor they built Pasco naval air station to train new pilots. They also used Vista field which is about a mile from my house.
Vista field trained a lot of navy pilots for carrier landing and takeoff- they had a catapult installed for that.
They trained on the Stearman then the Wildcat and Hellcat.
In all there was over 260,000 flight training hours logged between Pasco and Vista Field, third most behind Pensacola and Corpus Cristi.
Keep up the awesome work and if you’re ever in eastern Washington let me know and I’ll buy you a beer.

There is a meditative quality to your narrations of a very complex, high tempo activity. Bravo Zulu.

That was a great visual. Your carrier videos don't do altitude justice. The ground came up quick!
    Take care, and happy hunting!

Nice one! Son of a Navy pilot (1943-1966) who flew just about everything F during those years. I’m enjoying your videos a lot.

Love this jam and the nice thumbnail. The best is to get to sit behind you and listen to your calm and lovely voice. I love it. 💜💜💜

Yup, more Goshawks please! And I'm sure there are probably restrictions, but video from activities earlier in this flight would sure be awesome too!

Great video. Have seen this many times from the ground cool to see it from inside. Little nicer than the 172 I usually fly. I grew up in Yuma and have driven around that region over to San Diego so many times.

Just found your channel and sure glad I did! Been loving the videos. Reminds me of when I was in Kingsville Texas about 5 years ago and spent free time taking photos and video of the T-45's doing touch and go's at the NAS Kingsville. Keep up the great videos.

Bro you are like the Bob Ross of military aviation (and I mean that as a compliment). Such a soothing voice lmao
"We're just going to paint a happy little landing here." I'd want you as an instructor 100% of the time hahaha

My dad, a former USAF flier said, "You're only as good as your last landing." Yours are smooth and on the numbers. BZ sir.
