    Mechanics working under time pressure, pilots/owners being goal oriented, viewing regulations as red tape, and an aircraft being different than what was trained on, sound like things mentioned in an FAA accident report. Hopefully it's just being presented that way for TH-cam drama, rather than being true.

    I LOVE projects like this. Using brains, experience, Google, other people, etc. to bring an old machine back to life. Most of the channels I follow do that sort of work, whether it be restoring a 1950 Caterpillar bulldozer, a 1980 helicopter, a 1947 Harley Davidson or anything that can be brought back to running. And the trust you place in someone else flying your baby is remarkable. Just a great video.

    I remember seeing these from very close, flying around a small Czech airfield (LKMH) in the early nineties. We were spending weekend camping at "Drábské světničky", which are these pillar-shaped rocks where people dug little caves to hide from authorities, veeery long time ago. There used to be a rock castle up to 15th century. There's a great view of the runway from the top of those rock pillars, and left base approach to RWY 25 goes right next to the rocks. So while you're standing on the top, left-base approaching airplanes are passing just few tens of meters away from you. The rocks are amazing plane spotting areas (with a bit of a zoom lens). Unfortunately, there's very little traffic there.

    I'm looking at that landing gear. And a question popped up in my head: Do airplane undercarriages need an alignment, like cars?
    I can imagine that the main gear could use some toe-in for stability and the front wheel can use some proper caster angle for stable straight line tracking at speed.

    • @zschwizzy
      @zschwizzy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yep you got it. Most aircraft have the rudder pedals linked to the rudder as well as the nose wheel, so ensuring that the rudder and the nose wheel are aligned is a regular check!

    • @shanephillips6060
      @shanephillips6060 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a caster adjustment, and this jet is perfect. The nose gear is a trailing link free castering and not connected to the rudder pedals

Sitting on your couch or flying on a calm day every time won’t teach you much. As someone said, “you draw from your luck bag and put it into your experience bag. Just make sure the luck bag doesn’t run out”. Be positive and give them something constructive.

    Hey Matt, have you ever thought of doing a collab with a non-flying TH-camr? Sherpa (husky/malamute) and his human Jamie are looking to go on vacation soon and going abroad from the UK. Jamie doesn't want to put Sherpa in a cargo hold so he doesn't want to fly anywhere but if you could fly him Sherpa could just lay in the floor.. It'd be cool to see him come to the US and go to Alaska and see where he comes from before he's gone. (He's 12 and has thyroid issues) Oh and did I mention he talks like crazy? :P

    So he performs a trainer flights under a professional veteran l-39 pilot 6 months ago and now thinks that is warrant enough to buy and fly his own l-39 at an airshow of all things?! Sounds logical 🙄 🤔 ...NOT! Just cause you are youtuber and can afford to do irresponsible things like this from your "youtuber career" doesn't mean you should....just saying!

    A new standard has been breached: In the Beginning, there were TH-camrs who "made it"....by buying a Mercedes Sprinter. Or a brand new House! More 'toys". But Matt said Fuck It- I'm buying a fighter jet. All I know is that it beats the shit out of a van. ps: Re: Chutes; why not just use USA rigged chutes/FAA approved?.....and leave the Chec chutes for wall art.
