Yet during the video Graham presents ample evidence and points to back up his point of view, while Flint refuses (repeatedly) to even consider the points Graham is bringing up, treating them with ridicule and disdain (as he did when Graham started showing examples of underwater monuments). Graham also pointed out how the archeological community (and this smoothly translates to science communities at large) stifled and stomped out any opposition to their maintained views, ignoring evidence from their fellow members who were later proven right. The irony is if you fast forward to today archaeologists have been confirming other things Hancock has been saying. For example years ago he talked about the cities in the amazon. There are no archaeologists who support Graham Hancock's ideas, as many archaeologists believe his claims are not based on the scientific method and are more in line with New Age beliefs. Some archaeologists have described Hancock's claims as religious in nature and have criticized his work as being outside the goals of scientific archaeology.
Because those archeologists are being paid off by the government to hide the true history and present only what they feel to tell us No need to be an expert on that

Exactly. Instead of repeating the same question of how much did archeology study he should present the sites, maps, numbers that he has in his books, showing that there must have been very sophiaticated people deep in the past
Graham does not say that his work are facts, he only believes in them based on his research and personal experiences with the subject. His whole agenda is that the mainstream archeology are quick to dismiss outside information time and time again when they've been corrected multiple times of blatant dismissal of information. Notice that I mention "information" and not "evidence"? The point is that archeologist should have an open mind with all manners of research and information especially intensive works like Graham's to be at least met with a curious mind instead of sarcastically laughing each time Flint is asked of his opinion. I think Flint made a far more persuasive case. After watching this, I think Hancock’s theories deserve to be regarded as pseudo-archeology. I also think I understand the resentment trained archeologists may feel toward Hancock for possibly discrediting the hard work trained archeologists put forth to strengthen our understanding of the past. If Netflix granted someone like that with a platform for speculating about the past, while ignoring a preponderance of evidence that only hunter gatherers existed 11K years ago, you would react with some anger, too.
Yea we have plenty of things that point to when we figured out agriculture. We even know that it coincides with humans developing lighter skin. The truth is only kinda boring in contrast to the most wild of what Hancock says, it'd help if more money went to docs like Graham made but ones that are more interested in facts and science.
The irony is if you fast forward to today archaeologists have been confirming other things Hancock has been saying. For example years ago he talked about the cities in the amazon. Archeologists finally admitted that they think he was right. Not saying everything Hancock says is true but archeologists are proving you can’t trust everything they say as well.

He is being fair to both points and not showing favoritism even though we know he gets along great with Graham Hancock. This is very refreshing from an Intellectual and Ethical perspective.
Thats why JR is such a great show! He's REAL :)

Agree so much! Especially in these days where debates are often one-sided or used as a propaganda attack. It’s actually really refreshing seeing an honest debate where he makes sure everyone gets time to speak.
That's why Joe's podcast is so awesome❤
I agree , he knows how a slaugther works and avoided it by supporting both sides but if you look at rogans way of communication....

Great hosting by Joe Rogan. I can definitely see both pov and the rooting problems more clearly. I hope the archeological institutes finds a better way to interact with researcher that lean more on philosophical and visionary approach like mr. Hancock. While his hypothesis can be quite curious, there is no need for nasty dismissal. Trust the public to come to their own conclusion.
Flint was talking over the other guy, being rude & dominating the conversation because he CLEARLY thinks he’s the smartest guy in any room he enters. I don’t like his condescending, know-it-all attitude. He shouldn’t have even showed up to this show if he can’t conduct himself in a more friendly, open, professional way.

Hancock sitting there at the opening of his opening, jumping straight to using “mainstream” (known trigger word for conspiracy theorists) alongside telling the actual archeologist with actual experience and actual degrees that he’s the one in the hot seat, and then immediately admitting that his hypothesis is a “black hole” of evidence should tell everyone all they need to know.
I think Joe deserves a bit of recognition for this episode, we all know how much he wants Grahams side to win this argument, a lot of us do because it’s a far cooler story but Joe holds a very central position and pushes back on both opposing sides when a valid point has been made. More episodes like this would be amazing but only because of Joes ability to remain open minded and moderate the conversation accordingly.
Graham is probably also psyop

Hancock's casting himself as the underdog when he's by far the most well-known 'person who does archaeological work', he made millions off of his books already by the end of the 90s and now has a wildly successful Netflix series.
That's why he can afford to go six times to all these different sites, as if that makes him more qualified to talk about them.
He is not an archeologist.
@@Tara.Daktyl Yeah. I thought I was writing 'fake' there. Anyway, dude's a nutjob.

@@MS-ov9sv It means he got rich of of very controversial and widely rejected theories, got picked up by Netflix because his books are so popular, they paid HIM to travel around and do this new documentary, and he still claims to be the outsider. He has a budget most archaeologists couldn't even dream of, but plays the victim.
@@Tara.Daktyl Fixed that. He is very learned on archaeology, whatever one may criticize him for. As primarily Mesoamerican archaeologist Ed Barnhart said on Lex Fridman, "'He's probably more educated than most of my colleagues." I'll credit him where credit is due. And I don't dislike him. I just think his argument draws wildly different conclusions than 99% of archaologists, and I don't agree with his conclusions. (Neither does Barnhart.)
This was the perfect podcast. Interesting topic, two opposing views, and a host that let the guest talk without bias let them debate each other then to moderated when need be. Joe Rogan is the king of all media knocked it out of the park again!
Joe does the best he can,but you can clearly see his bias on certain topics. It's human nature. Like when he wanted to disqualify Biden from being president bc of the revolutionary war air planes quote, but just dismissed it as misspeaking when he found out Trump had originally said it

Agreed, wind defo left his sails when he hasn't got a like-minded podcast mate. Re my post about archeologists being poorly paid, theories cost nothing lol
I loved the part where after flint basically continued to point out the gaps in his reasoning and the flaw in the sources he was using. Graham just resorted to his usual tactic of whining about how flint said that his sources were based off of and perpetuate nazi ideals because it hurt his feelings
In case that didn’t make sense… I agree :3
Like refusing to acknowledge possibly man-made structures by just laughing and saying its natural - without even explaining why?; Backpedaling remarks of Hancock being a racist?; or failing to answer basic questions?.
