I watched a couple of your videos and was compelled to subscribe! Great work and you capture the spirit and nature of our GSP's. I grew up with GSP's. My Dad was on the cover of a 1950's era Sports Afield with his GSP Ben. We grew up with GSP's and have hunted, fished, and cuddled with them all our lives. I currently have a 19 month old solid liver girl, and we birds hunt all over western North Dakota and Wyoming, so she meets lots of wild birds, and is getting better at her craft every day. She may be the best dog I've had yet, but I think that's also reflected in the fact that we are together every day, and we either hunt or train almost every day. I am currently training her to bow hunt elk with me, and she is rising to the occasion and knows how to shift gears from sneaking through elk country by my side, to casting through bird cover. A sweet and cheerful temperament, always ready to go. Love GSP's!

Our baby girl flies all over the house. She will tackle our 55lb Malinois puppy and think nothing of it, she is 15lbs. She is none stop but takes naps for she is only 12 wks old.

Thanks Will - can you do something similar for the English Pointer too?

Would the presence of another dog in the family assist in separation anxiety?

Are GSPs more of a home body or are they prone to wander. We are looking for a companion farm dog but they will be free to explore. Are they likely to stay close to their family or more prone to wander off?

great points about GSPs; sounds like my dog.
Apartment dwellers beware. This dog may not be well suited for you.

A large acreage is ideal but no the GSP is very fine in an apartment, too, because the large acreage himself is not enough. A GSP will not roam it alone you still have to go with him, and give him tasks, talk to him, work with him....be with him when outdoors. After a walk, he doesn't care how small your place is because he will want to stay where you do, possibly touching you while he is laying down. If he cannot establish a high-ranked status in his "pack" if he feels non-important he will be sad, a poor eater, and a low performer. He must be in the center of his family and considered a person to be happy - but, OMG he does worth it, so much...

Our blk & wht GSP is a cathartic force in our family. We don’t need a big, mean attack dog as an ego stroke as my wife and I are well trained CCL possesses.

If you are looking for dog that can be a clown, this breed could be for you. Ours had the best sense of humor (if a dog actually has a sense of humor).
