This car reminds me of my grandmother. She bought a new Nova every couple years until they quit making them. Best one was a 1970 SS 396 4spd. She didn't like it because she was always getting pulled over in it.
I've seen this video many times and every time it puts a smile on my face. A smile? That's actually a HUGE understatement. They really aught to come up with a word for that. I mean, there's hyperbole which means "a gross exaggeration", but I don't know of a word for the exact opposite; "a gross understatement". Anyway, that car is INCREDIBLE!! Again, a HUGE understatement. Thanks for sharing this. I don't care how many times I see it, I love watching this video every time I see it.
I liked the cop pull-over. My buddy and I dropped an L88 option motor into a super fine Malibu with 4-speed and nitrous spray back about 1977 in Midland, MI. Needless to say, it was a sweet ride and a fun cruise car. One day we were at some burger place and a kid in a Mustang wanted to go on the four-lane. We rolled out and let him jump......ran thru the gears and the kid thought his front wheels fell off..... Unfortunately, we were not alone and the highway patrol pulled both of us over. We could see the kid getting his ticket and slumping farther down in his seat with every passing second. Then came our turn.....I'd been howling with laughter due to the fact my buddy was driving and I was not..... When the HP got to the car, we expected the worst. Instead, his first words, "Whaddya guys got in this thing? I got one of these at home and ....blah, blah, blah." In short, we spent 45 minutes at the side of the road B.S.ing and bench racing. A real cool guy....became a good friend.
Reminds me of my similar experience in the mid '70s. I grew up in the hot rod culture of the '60s and '70 and learned to turn wrenches at a young age. My first car when I was 17 was a '69 SS 396 Camaro with a built L78, 4 speed Muncie with a Hurst T, full cam, 4.11 posi, etc etc etc. I was from the Midwest but became a crew chief on jets in the USAF (there were lots of hot rodder turned jet guys in the AF back then) and ended up stationed in NJ for my first tour. My car was street legal back home but not in NJ, but I trailered it there (with my '71 350 Impala sport coupe). I kept my home state registration, which was/is legal to do for active duty military. I used to mostly granny it around and try to not attract too much attention to myself, but it stuck out like a sore thumb on the streets in NJ so I knew it was only a matter of time until I got pulled over, and I was right. One day I was just puttering along well under the speed limit in the right lane of a four lane highway when a cruiser came up in the left lane, slowed down suddenly, shadowed me for a minute or two off my corner panel, then moved over behind me and the lights came on. After he confirmed that my out of state registration was valid and legit due to the fact I was active duty military stationed there in NJ, he wanted to talk cars. He thought it was great that we had no state-required vehicle inspections or stickers and could legally run some pretty outrageous (compared to NJ) stuff on the street. We talked cars for a few minutes then went on our way.
I remember this video from a while back... I had two Novas in this body style... These are great cars to fix up... They are still overlooked for the Vettes and Camaros... Great vid!!!

1,200 HP but how much does it actually put to the rear tires, You can say you have 2500 horsepower but if you're not putting it all to the back wheels then you truly not have and a 2500 horsepower car and I'm not trying to bag or hate I'm just saying simple question what is it actually put to the back wheels
This is one reason I love the US car scene, because you can get away with driving a car from the 70s and people won't suspect anything. In the UK anything that is left from the 70s is either a show car or modified, there's no way you'd see anything like this driving around on a daily basis.
My first car was a '74 Nova. I didn't have know where near the engine in this 1. But I can't complain, I had a 250 straight 6 matched up with a 2speed power glide. My uncle added a few extras, & the GM 250 straight 6 is a beast of an engine. They're pretty much indestructible. And you CAN make them run just as good as many small block V8's. Hell mine was even the same color.
I love Drew and that car. In the 80's I had a Champagne Gold, 396 70 Chevelle sleeper that ran in the 12's through mufflers with street tires...but Drew's Nova...a whole 'nuther level. Knew it when I heard it.
I love the power this thing puts out, and I love Novas, that being said, I'm not a fan of the 'patina' look. To each thier own, but I'd have to do some bodywork on it & paint it...even if it was just to make it look stock, it would look way better...Great car other than that...🤘😎👍

We've got a 73 350 ss hatchback and I can only imagine that thing going from 205 hp to 1200. God almighty.
I have a 73 Nova in my garage with a 350 bored 30 over, corvette racing heads and a TCI 350 street racing transmission. And the car looks like this, but it's the mustard color. Hehehe.
I'm 60 years old I had 4 Nova's always was my favorite let them get away got my hands on a 74 not letting this one go 383 strocker nice paint but that thing is stupid fast it reminds me of one of my old one's only supper fast wish I had a sleeper like that don't have to worry about paint or keep clean just haul ass nice car
This video was as fun as fun gets! With real hot rod nuts!
This is one reason I love the US car scene, because you can get away with driving a car from the 70s and people won't suspect anything. In the UK anything that is left from the 70s is either a show car or modified, there's no way you'd see anything like this driving around on a daily basis.
I miss my old Nova! Love this sleeper!
I absolutely love this machine
1:50 Who thinks a 72 nova is a waste of space at a car show. I don’t care what engine it has a nova always has a place at a car show.
4:24 to 4:34 is one of the greatest things ever recorded.
Love it. Great build
To each thier own, but I'd have to do some bodywork on it & paint it...even if it was just to make it look stock, it would look way better...Great car other than that...🤘😎👍
Wow sooooo cool. Thanks for sharing love this channel
I love it. Just pure. I bet that's original paint? I'd change nothing.
