Transfigured RoA gems suck. Do not use them. Added some video links in the description for Boss kills for both Champion and Raider, Champion Build Guide from 3.22 & Champ boss kills from 3.22 League ***** Change Log **** 2023/12/03 - Added High Budget Tree , Gear and Skill Tree to POB. This switches the ascendancy points round to take frenzy and onslaught nodes and getting ailmemt avoidance and suppression on gear. Total DPS with manaforged arrow should be about 10 mil DPS. It is expensive but would then give you a pretty amazing gearset to switch to Tornado Shot 2023/12/05 - After a test run it can be hard to get resists and attributes balances early game so feel free to use quiver for a resist and temporarily use the +30 Str/Int nodes on the tree. Fractured bases can also help with this buying bases with big resistance or attribute fractured 2023/12/06 - Changed Full DPS to 4 hits instead of 5. I have tested mutliple runs on minotaur and it is around 4 arrows per barrage that hit. Other bosses take more and tiny bosses might take less. DPs is really something you need to judge by feel but assuming you hit 4 times seems the safest bet.
Hey so how do you not die from being hit? There's no defensives past the evasion and when that fails, you die in 3 seconds. How do you do uber anything with this?
@@Winsor1986 I don't think many league starters can do Ubers that is not really the purpose of them. With 95% chance to evade, max suppression and ailment avoidance and 25-30% Phys taken as ele the build is very safe. I am currently farming essences and Harvest in T16s and having no issues levelling up

I returned to the game after a years long break last league and started with your Champion RoA. Was able to get all the voidstones solo, farm literal hundreds of divines, get to 97 and enjoyed it immensely. Hell, I even ended up carrying my more experienced mates and giving them currency for their builds from time to time as I was progressing faster than them and earning more than I could spend. Great starter build for both up-to-date and out-of-the-loop players!
Here I was thinking I wanted to play this build again since it performed so well in Crucible. Well I'll be damned if you didn't provide exactly what I needed!

Thanks. Very good point I should have included that. Any thing in maps it is pretty good at except Legion and Breach as they worked much better with skills than can chain or pierce. I plan to run Essences in white maps and then farm Red Altars, Ultimatum & possibly Alva temples once I clear my Atlas
I did a SSF test, ascending and getting to the end of act 3, and it completely melted Dominus. In fact, he died so quickly it broke the phasing sequence and he morphed into his second form without moving, and then died again in about 2-3 seconds. 🙂 Thanks for the guide, I will definitely be starting with this.

So, i did a practice run in SSF with the build, managed to clear out the acts smooth, the dmg is there, i think it is an amazing league starter, easy to play, and the guide is super easy to follow, even for a begginer. What can i say, keep it up, and have a great league start!

I think there is a very popular Toxic Rain guide From a guy called Fezz I think which is super detailed. However it is on Champion. I tried TR Raider a few times and really did not like it until I got a lot invested into the build

Slightly more swapping gems when going from 3 to 4 links and some trinity juggling but sooooo much more damage it's well worth doing. So it seems I have myself a league starter, and theres almost 7 hours left, what a luxury :D
Raider ascendancy is easly my favourite one but there are almost no builds for it that i like because they almost never spec into Onslaugh. Sure, going into frenzy charges gives more damage but i prefer zoom-zoom. Ill definitely be trying this one next week to check if ill want to leaguestart it.
played in Tota Roa with Avatar of the chase + Slaughter from ascendancy + Avatar of the veil from forbidden jewels + phasing from watcher eye while affected by haste. It was a blast in running maps.
you revived my craving for PoE league starts with these build guides! i'm just wondering if RoA is able to gear up relatively quick to clear guardian and conq bosses since i'm planning to play destructive play. also i'm curious to what's more attractive about RoA instead LA as a league starter for you?
It’s pretty easy to gear to do conquerors I would think a few divines to cover a 6 link and decent bow should be most of what you need. Never done it on this build though so can’t be 100% sure. It can 100% do them I’m just not sure whether you would be talking 2-3 div investment or 6-8. I like raider for smooth league starter but LA deadeye is an amazing league starter
i'm actually considering RoA start , but with poison. The tincture giving all your damage can poison with a Rog triple ele bow and RoA seems so damn nice.
@@sogerist probably pathfinder for wither on hit with RoA and all the good flask nodes and poison spread. The tincture ascendancy from affliction has some flask effect i think so thats nice for PF too. like get the tincture so all damage can poison then run exped till rog provides the massive elemental bow, it should be much easier to get a 1300+ ele bow than for TS as you dont need any +projectile or crit , just 3 T1-T2 ele prefix and then lock prefix and veiled orb for attack speed with an usual bow attack poison tree. there was a crucible mod for poison blast rain two leagues ago and ziz made a build with it , the tree should be quite similar.

hey dude would it be better to get an ancestral vision to hit the 100% elemental ailment ammunity then we can remove avatar of the veil and avatar fo chase to take avatar of slaughter then just annoint a +frenzy on ammulet late game to get more dps?
Yeah i would probably actually keep both onslaught nodes and drop the suppression and ailment nodes. I think I added a gear set and tree to the PoB for this setup. I would probably go Hyrris ire too for more damage and help make up the spell Suppression you lose.
I've played a physical based RoA raider a few times. When I do, I pick up The Siege cluster jewel for 100% bleed/maim/knockback and then use forbidden jewels to get Rupturing from the dead-eye because it's usually really cheap since not many people use it.
Something weird going with the POB @FuzzyDuckzy. If I go into the Skills, choose the "6 Link Non Crit Gems" skill set and increase the Count for the Vaal Rain of Arrows (to 4 or whatever), change the Main Skill to Rain of Arrows / Rain of Arrows and then try to change the Skill set again, Path of Building (community version) crashes with a lua error "attempt to index a nil value". This then prevents the PoB from being loaded ever again. Not sure what's going on there, thought I'd let you know.
Ok I think I know what that is. I think I have the manaforged arrows as active skills in the crit setup and when you switch to it after changing it errors as the skill is disabled. I will try and fix
Tested both this and LA dead eye (first time trying the skills) on the same character and cheap'ish gear (you basically respec ascendancy, move a few points and put on three step assault), maybe other people will find notes useful. TL;DR: RoA raider was more comfortable for me at low investment, will probably league start it pending new skill info. - main difference is playstyle, with LA you run away from tanky mobs and rely on far shot to get damage, with RoA you run into mobs and rely on point blank to do damage. I find the latter to be easier to play, particularly since you can just place ballistas in front of a tanky rare and run around it, but it's highly subjective. - RoA clear is great, but LA is another level, you delete things three screens ahead. At more investment LA would probably feel amazing once you squeeze more single target DPS and stop needing to run away from stuff. - both heavily rely on leech to stay alive. They gain a lot of sustain from damaging stuff, so feel very differently from summoner / totem archetypes I typically play. - both rely on vaal version skill + ballistas (or manaforged, but I like ballistas) for single target, RoA felt like more damage, but again probably because it's easier to apply [for me] - RoA [raider] is easier to gear due to built-in suppression (when I switched from LA to RoA, my spell suppression became overcapped by ~50 lol) and ailment immunity (you can't get that on budget versions of non-raider builds iiuc) - died few(er) times on RoA, it felt tankier (by no means tanky, but charging into mobs in T16s felt fine) - budget gear is basically the same. So on the one hand gear will be expensive due to hype around LA, on the other hand you should be able to buy someone else's imperfect craft result for cheap. Most likely will be league starting RoA raider. Endgame will probably shoot for replacing three-step assault with essence of loathing crafted boots with some res and life and put on lightning coil. With helm craft + taste of hate on top of that, I should be set for phys mitigation.

I know that farming is up to each individual player, but on a start test char, I sourced almost 900 ele dam in about 20 maps by running essence for targeted rerolls and expedition for high ilvl items from rog.
So last league I started with your roa champ. It was very good. I just build the roa raider, and it is faster and with more dmg I suppose, feels fkin zooming man, keep up your work! cheers!
I have a question tho. What do you think about rage sustain via warlord's mark? You think it is possible to use it on manaforge setup for berserk and zooming even faster?

I'm guessing not too much has changed from this pob, but are there any additions from 3.24 like automation/call to arms that you would consider slotting in? I see 2 open slots on gloves for the high budget setup, maybe slide in call to arms enduring cry? Or do you think raider is already tanky enough and better to go for more dps?

It’s unchanged really. It’s gem got a buff to quality as you can now get 4 additional arrows. Transfigured gem will be interesting as the enchants were just attack speed or damage so it could be something that simple or could be something new
Hi you have a excellent build guide, but i have a question, i want to do a tornado shot caractere, and i dont know what to start between ur Rain of Arrow of a Lighning Arrow b uild. For you what are the pro and con of this two builds ? In one side we have the speed of the Raider but on the LA side i think we have a better clear on map and i didnt know wich one have a better single target.Give me your opinion. Thanks you !
Single target is honestly about the same unless you want to gem swap to barrage every boss with lightning arrow. YOu are right deadeye clears screens way quicker but has the downside of being nowhere near as defensive. If you are deadset on TS and do not mind which build you play to get there I would probably go deadeye LA as less respecing and your LA gear will just carry straight over to TS

I think it could do it but I wouldn’t think it would be the ideal build for it. I think you would need a handful of divines invested for logbooks as you would probably want more single target for bosses. Honestly I would probably not pick this build if running logbooks early is the goal
I was looking to start your RoA this league and glad it survived. I was wondering how RoA fairs against early atlas expedition (with or without the big bomb passive) and potentially with ultimatum, but primarily this vs expedition day1/2/3. Thanks for the wonderful guide!
I did some testing on pretty bad gear in T10 maps running big bomb expedition and it worked pretty well. You just need to make sure you take the mark mastery where marked enemies cannot regen life and the attack mastery where enemies cannot block your attacks. It is not the best expedition farmer but it does it absolutely fine.
Thanks for the guide. You've played TS a bunch of times as well - is there a specific threshold you'd recommend transitioning to TS, or as an intermediate step, transitioning to crit?
You don’t really need anything other than levels and a bow with 7.75% base crit to move to crit. I always switch around level 83-85. In regard to TS that’s a bit tricker now kaoms spirit can’t be used. I would want omni and some good attribute gear. However maybe some of the borrowed power from the new ascendancies can help
@@FuzzyDuckzy So a rough step by step from RoA to TS would be something like? : Precise Technique -> early maps Swap to Crit -> swap to omni (trinity) -> swap to omni (phys to cold) and TS and change ascendency to Deadeye at this point?

Champion build hasn’t changed and there should be a video on the channel from last league comparing the two. I am looking at the champ version over the weekend to see if I need to update the guide
It’s probably best suited to heist. Lab is pretty good. If running lab a lot I would get a helmet with more armour than evasion and take the mastery in the onslaught wheel that makes you immune to bleeding.
Hey awesome guide. I am sorry if this is answered somewhere else, but would you recommend this raider rain of arrows build or your 3.22 champion rain of arrows build for a fairly casual player league start. I don't plan on pushing super late game stuff. Maybe just a quick pros and cons and differences of the two builds would be awesome.
Champ is worse up to level 78 but starts to pull ahead if you spend a bit of currency on gear once you equip perseverance belt. Raider is better early and can get to T16 maps much cheaper. They are both fun and fairly simple builds to play. Should be a video out in the next few hours going over Raider in a bit more detail and looking at how to progress early
Hm seems like I found another interesting easy starter. How would you say this compares to TR in Heist-setups (would think TR is still easier because of Bow / color requirements)? I like your super detailed approach to different phases in league starting, too many people just fokus purely on the campaign imho. Some builds excel and then drop off hard in early maps. Once you've had the qol from Raider you tend to miss it on other starters :) Cheers and have a good start in 3.23.
Cheers. I have had a few goes at TR but really did not get on with it. I don't really like builds that do DOTs or delayed damage. I would think once geared they would perform similar, but hit damage has the bonus of being able to leach mana and life and TR cannot really do that
With Deadeye you can scale damage a lot easier because of the ascendancy and clear screens quicker. If you are a good player and experienced in bows deadeye is better if you want to end up going TS. Deadeye has literally zero defences though, it will have some spell suppression early and mediocre evasion. Raider after uber lab will have max evasion and lots of other juicy defences
Thanks for the guide, looks very interesting, I'll probably try to follow it. I saw in another guide (for a competelly different build) people say that "Excess Sustenance" node (15% for 200 life on hit) is very strong, especially early on. And we could even take 50 life regen there on the mastery. All of that costs 7 points (5 on the 60+ tree), do you think it could be a good idea to take them? Maybe at least temporary? I feel very tempted to just rush there on the very early levels, but I never played ranger builds, so I'm not sure whether it's ok to postpone other stuff for that and what can I sucrifice around level 80-95 if I still want to keep them. Any thoughts on this are very appreciated =)
Hey this is a great guide. I was thinking of starting an EA ballista build, but realized it would be terrible for the new mechanic. This looks absolutely perfect. My only concern is that galvanic arrow seemed to get me killed a lot since it has a shorter range, caustic arrow felt a lot better since it has a ground degen, but might just be me. Excited to take this to end-game, I failed 4 aislings in a row this league, so I'm overdue for a GG ele bow :')
There is not much difference between caustic and galvanic so use whatever you feel most comfy with. I died twice in act 1 on my last run for this very reason 😁
One reason to take Caustic for a couple early levels would be that you can keep the Gem until first lab and transfigure it into Caustic Arrow of Poison to sell to all the hype builds that want to use that gem. ;)
@@nemesis1792 Turning the gem into the same gem but transfigured will be a rare outcome which is a shame. You could also just buy it from the act 1 vendor before doing lab if you wanted to take a chance as the gems level up with the vendor

Agree with Juicer it will be fine for expedition and essences but Legion it is not great at due to the way RoA works as a skill. Lightning Arrow deadeye would be much better for legion
No there is not many builds that will be one shot proof as ultimatum can get some tough mods. It should be good though with max evasion. There are things you can do to be tankier so what I might do is add another gear set to the PoB if people are worried about 1 shots
If I get time it's a bit of a pain to do as you have to add every tree again then remove the old ones. The actual pob won't change anyway it will still be the same
What would you sacrifice to get 4 empty sockets on boots for 30ms boost from the new ascendancy? Other choice would be to go for a different tree, the one with charms, but not sure if that is worth on the first char.
I do not think I would sacrifice anything in maps as the build is already pretty gem starved. In the campaign you do not need the manaforged setup and can manually cast the mark . I plan to do league mechanic in every zone/map so should hopefully be able to go charms when I hit maps

This + tincture on weapon looks great but because we don't get as much as pathfinder out of flask I wonder if magi is the way to go?
I think Maji is the way to go early and then I think probably primalist or whatever it is called once you start collecting some decent charms. The 30% MS is just such a boost in the campaign and early maps. Gem slots are tight so not sure it is viable in red maps, however to make it possible you could probably just drop mark on hit and just manually mark the boss.
I think you might be using an older filter as this problem was fixed on day 1. Are you following the filter or did you make a copy as they are currently all working fine for me

I am going to bring out a video on this but my plan is rush essences, farm them in white/yellow maps to get geared. Then red altars farming to get gear finished then I plan on going ultimatum and probably expedition Only things I avoid are legion and breech as they are pretty bad for this build

I would think this build could probably do wave 20 but not tried it. Most decently geared league starters should be able to get to 20. This will not be the best for it but would think it would be ok

Are there so low build variaties or is it just easier to update a low number of same builds? Isn't that boring after sometimes or u keeping ur motivation up with little build changes and optimizations and your experience with these builds? No front real question. U make very good understandable and videos like leveling and full build or crafting tutorials even with text files. That's really great n a lot of effort n ROA Build isn't bad at all it's fun I tested it out 1 time
These builds are mainly based on popularity. I try and make guides that people ask for. There is a lot of build variety but some maybe dont feel great to start on no currency. It is also very hard to understand new builds you have to spend weeks understanding the ins and out to make sure your guide is suitable and sometimes people don't have the time The other issue is that a lot of builds have complexities that a lot of players may not understand and you then end up with bad feedback through no fault of your own Hope that makes sense

I think till lv 90 maybe 96 and always upgraded my gear n stuff but in my opinion it was way too low damage even in endgame n I switched to ts. Thanks for the comment. Yes it is definitely viable for SSF I just finished a test run and got the atlas completed in under 15 hours with a 5 link and fairly basic gear. It might be harder to get geared for Uber Elder and Maven but is definitely doable if you take your time

raider starts off smoother/faster champion is tankier in maps as for the additional ascendancies i will probably just go for the one with sockets and hope i find something useful to throw in
Honestly I think Champ is better overall but the main feedback I had about champ is people got sick of proccing adrenaline every 30 seconds. Raider is much more beginner friendly mechanics wise. I agree with Nutyu Raider is streets ahead but when geared in T16 maps and fully ascended I prefer Champion
You can compare the pobs, champion has 5x (!) effective hit pool AND phys max hit. But, yes, you'd need to press adrenaline. @FuzzyDuckzy wdyt about adding lightning coil to the raider setup? Not a panacea, but adds 50% increase in max phys hit which is great. 6L lightning coil should not be THAT expensive to get using tainted currency (spend few hundred chaos on tainted fusings? socket colors seem pretty compatible, can force two blues via bench)
@@Arundel86 lightning coil is ok but the build is quite hard to cap resistances so this just puts extra pressure on the other items so although you might get a 6 link coil for 2 div you might need to spend another 4 on other items. I’ve honestly never had an issue with survivability on raider.
Would you recommend switching to crit if my only goal is to complete the atlas and not get voidstones? I plan to just get about 95 atlas passives and then farm white maps, would switching to crit help me then or just be a waste of time?
Definitely switch to crit you really run out of efficient points on precise technique after level 84+. Crit is just a better build overall and will also make clearing your atlas much easier. You will also easily be able to get the voidstones if you wanted to
Honestly I have no idea how the build would improve or perform with an Aura Bot. I would think you would probably want a build that can utilise auras more and I am not sure this build would be great for that. I only ever play solo sorry
Played your LS Raider in Kalandra league. Will be playing this build as my league starter. What will be required to eventually switch to LS and you use to run the suppression and ailments immunity ascendency’s instead of the onslaught ones, what changed? Thanks for the videos.
WIth bow skills you can get frenszy charges on hit with manaforged arrows so you get more out of the onslaught nodes. Later on when geared you would probably drop the suppression and ailment nodes, het that on gear and then go frenszy and onslaught
Ok I forgot to clarify on your older lightning strike build you use to run the suppression/ ailment ascendency instead of the onslaught one. Is the onslaught one just more damage than the resistant pen?
I am not sure yet. We need to see how difficult ultimatum is. In theory Raider should be pretty good with high evasion, spell suppression, ailment avoidance and phasing. I am certainly going to be giving it go
in theory in a circle area roa must be good but some ultimatum modes might be hard on the build, so u need to check modes, or mr duckz can answer this question more correctly than me :)
I don't remember the name of new ascendancy but the one that gives MS when you have no gems in your boots also have a node that grants Barking skill or something. That one gives more armour before you get hit, and more evasion if you get hit. Wouldn't it be good for your build as it lacks phys mitigation?
I don't think it is worth the bark skill as you have to reserve mana and I doubt it will give enough armour to make it worth it. You are better off trying to get endurance charges and as much phys taken as ele as you can. The only thing I can honestly say consistently kills me on this build are the falling rocks in the minataur fight. Outside of that you just rarely get hit
So from the gem changes we see--- Rain of Arrows Added Fires 26 Arrows Removed Fires 21 additional Arrows 10% increased Area of Effect So we're looking at +4 additional arrows (not counting the base 1) it looks like? Question is, how good really is this? I'm kinda excited?
What bosses? Do you mean campaign, map, guardians or pinnacles? Boss killing in the campaign is very quick as you use precise technique combined with point blank which just those 2 gives you 70% more damage. You just have to make sure you are upgrading your bow every few acts since the damage from attack builds scales from the weapon
the main reason for not going champ is just not wanting to proc adrenaline constantly. I think once you get Perseverance it is a slightly better build but Raider definitely gets a comfier start

Is there any gem swap suggestion for single target? Anything I can swap RoA with that will still be happy with the other links? I’m real bad at bossing and the less damage I do the more likely I am to use all my portals by dying to mechanics constantly so I’m trying to cut that time down.
If you only have one 6 link you could put ballistas in your 6 link for consistent damage. The problem is a lot of bosses destroy your totems. There honestly are not really any skills for Raider that do any more damage. Blast rain is ok but really needs more arrows. I would honestly try rand leatn the mechanics in standard as it helps a lot especially in league start. I am not very good at bossing either which is why I always 6 portal the bosses then map and sell any boss maps/keys that I get. Quest Eater and Exarch you can just brute force and over gear since they are not very strong. There is also the option of buying carries for the other 2 voidstones since a carry is normally cheaper than buying the fragments
Do you mean LA? There is no advantage to it really I just really dislike deadeye until I have some decent gear and can one shot everything as it is very squishy.
I have a question tho. What do you think about rage sustain via warlord's mark? You think it is possible to use it on manaforge setup for berserk and zooming even faster?
I don't really like it. I think it is too much of a compromise and boss damage will be quite a lot worse. I think it is something you could use but personally I think you give up too much. I am also not sure it would work on Raider since it looks like it relies on the deadeye mark ascendancy that transfers marks to nearby enemies. We do not really need the help zooming like deadeye as we get juiced up onslaught which is very quick if you can keep up your quicksilver flask
Why do we take Blind Mastery when those passives only give 20% chance to inflict blind? Is it because we hit with many arrows that the chance to blind becomes higher or am i missing something?

2023/12/03 - Added High Budget Tree , Gear and Skill Tree to POB. This switches the ascendancy points round to take frenzy and onslaught nodes and getting ailmemt avoidance and suppression on gear. Total DPS with manaforged arrow should be about 10 mil DPS. It is expensive but would then give you a pretty amazing gearset to switch to Tornado Shot
2023/12/05 - After a test run it can be hard to get resists and attributes balances early game so feel free to use quiver for a resist and temporarily use the +30 Str/Int nodes on the tree. Fractured bases can also help with this buying bases with big resistance or attribute fractured
2023/12/06 - Changed Full DPS to 4 hits instead of 5. I have tested mutliple runs on minotaur and it is around 4 arrows per barrage that hit. Other bosses take more and tiny bosses might take less. DPs is really something you need to judge by feel but assuming you hit 4 times seems the safest bet.
Hey so how do you not die from being hit? There's no defensives past the evasion and when that fails, you die in 3 seconds. How do you do uber anything with this?
@@Winsor1986 I don't think many league starters can do Ubers that is not really the purpose of them. With 95% chance to evade, max suppression and ailment avoidance and 25-30% Phys taken as ele the build is very safe.
I am currently farming essences and Harvest in T16s and having no issues levelling up

Having Raiders perma Onslaught at league start is a game changer, great QOL ascendancy
Perma-onslaught and then the frenzy node just cuts down on so much time in the campaign, gets me to maps so much quicker!

I returned to the game after a years long break last league and started with your Champion RoA. Was able to get all the voidstones solo, farm literal hundreds of divines, get to 97 and enjoyed it immensely. Hell, I even ended up carrying my more experienced mates and giving them currency for their builds from time to time as I was progressing faster than them and earning more than I could spend.
Great starter build for both up-to-date and out-of-the-loop players!

Thanks. Very good point I should have included that. Any thing in maps it is pretty good at except Legion and Breach as they worked much better with skills than can chain or pierce. I plan to run Essences in white maps and then farm Red Altars, Ultimatum & possibly Alva temples once I clear my Atlas
I did a SSF test, ascending and getting to the end of act 3, and it completely melted Dominus. In fact, he died so quickly it broke the phasing sequence and he morphed into his second form without moving, and then died again in about 2-3 seconds. 🙂

So, i did a practice run in SSF with the build, managed to clear out the acts smooth, the dmg is there, i think it is an amazing league starter, easy to play, and the guide is super easy to follow, even for a begginer. What can i say, keep it up, and have a great league start!

I think there is a very popular Toxic Rain guide From a guy called Fezz I think which is super detailed. However it is on Champion. I tried TR Raider a few times and really did not like it until I got a lot invested into the build

Slightly more swapping gems when going from 3 to 4 links and some trinity juggling but sooooo much more damage it's well worth doing. So it seems I have myself a league starter, and theres almost 7 hours left, what a luxury :D

Raider ascendancy is easly my favourite one but there are almost no builds for it that i like because they almost never spec into Onslaugh. Sure, going into frenzy charges gives more damage but i prefer zoom-zoom. Ill definitely be trying this one next week to check if ill want to leaguestart it.
played in Tota Roa with Avatar of the chase + Slaughter from ascendancy + Avatar of the veil from forbidden jewels + phasing from watcher eye while affected by haste. It was a blast in running maps.
in 3.23 we can most likely have every nodes from raider and some from other ascendancy xD

you revived my craving for PoE league starts with these build guides! i'm just wondering if RoA is able to gear up relatively quick to clear guardian and conq bosses since i'm planning to play destructive play. also i'm curious to what's more attractive about RoA instead LA as a league starter for you?
It’s pretty easy to gear to do conquerors I would think a few divines to cover a 6 link and decent bow should be most of what you need. Never done it on this build though so can’t be 100% sure. It can 100% do them I’m just not sure whether you would be talking 2-3 div investment or 6-8. I like raider for smooth league starter but LA deadeye is an amazing league starter
i'm actually considering RoA start , but with poison. The tincture giving all your damage can poison with a Rog triple ele bow and RoA seems so damn nice.
i was thinking to go poison also maybe with chief or assasin tho how would you build it?
@@sogerist probably pathfinder for wither on hit with RoA and all the good flask nodes and poison spread. The tincture ascendancy from affliction has some flask effect i think so thats nice for PF too.
like get the tincture so all damage can poison then run exped till rog provides the massive elemental bow, it should be much easier to get a 1300+ ele bow than for TS as you dont need any +projectile or crit , just 3 T1-T2 ele prefix and then lock prefix and veiled orb for attack speed
with an usual bow attack poison tree.
there was a crucible mod for poison blast rain two leagues ago and ziz made a build with it , the tree should be quite similar.

hey dude would it be better to get an ancestral vision to hit the 100% elemental ailment ammunity then we can remove avatar of the veil and avatar fo chase to take avatar of slaughter then just annoint a +frenzy on ammulet late game to get more dps?
Yeah i would probably actually keep both onslaught nodes and drop the suppression and ailment nodes. I think I added a gear set and tree to the PoB for this setup. I would probably go Hyrris ire too for more damage and help make up the spell Suppression you lose.

I've played a physical based RoA raider a few times. When I do, I pick up The Siege cluster jewel for 100% bleed/maim/knockback and then use forbidden jewels to get Rupturing from the dead-eye because it's usually really cheap since not many people use it.

Something weird going with the POB @FuzzyDuckzy.
If I go into the Skills, choose the "6 Link Non Crit Gems" skill set and increase the Count for the Vaal Rain of Arrows (to 4 or whatever), change the Main Skill to Rain of Arrows / Rain of Arrows and then try to change the Skill set again, Path of Building (community version) crashes with a lua error "attempt to index a nil value".
This then prevents the PoB from being loaded ever again. Not sure what's going on there, thought I'd let you know.
Ok I think I know what that is. I think I have the manaforged arrows as active skills in the crit setup and when you switch to it after changing it errors as the skill is disabled. I will try and fix

Champion is very similar I would just pick what ascendancy suits you. They both work really well
Tested both this and LA dead eye (first time trying the skills) on the same character and cheap'ish gear (you basically respec ascendancy, move a few points and put on three step assault), maybe other people will find notes useful.
TL;DR: RoA raider was more comfortable for me at low investment, will probably league start it pending new skill info.
- main difference is playstyle, with LA you run away from tanky mobs and rely on far shot to get damage, with RoA you run into mobs and rely on point blank to do damage. I find the latter to be easier to play, particularly since you can just place ballistas in front of a tanky rare and run around it, but it's highly subjective.
- RoA clear is great, but LA is another level, you delete things three screens ahead. At more investment LA would probably feel amazing once you squeeze more single target DPS and stop needing to run away from stuff.
- both heavily rely on leech to stay alive. They gain a lot of sustain from damaging stuff, so feel very differently from summoner / totem archetypes I typically play.
- both rely on vaal version skill + ballistas (or manaforged, but I like ballistas) for single target, RoA felt like more damage, but again probably because it's easier to apply [for me]
- RoA [raider] is easier to gear due to built-in suppression (when I switched from LA to RoA, my spell suppression became overcapped by ~50 lol) and ailment immunity (you can't get that on budget versions of non-raider builds iiuc)
- died few(er) times on RoA, it felt tankier (by no means tanky, but charging into mobs in T16s felt fine)
- budget gear is basically the same. So on the one hand gear will be expensive due to hype around LA, on the other hand you should be able to buy someone else's imperfect craft result for cheap.
Most likely will be league starting RoA raider. Endgame will probably shoot for replacing three-step assault with essence of loathing crafted boots with some res and life and put on lightning coil. With helm craft + taste of hate on top of that, I should be set for phys mitigation.

I know that farming is up to each individual player, but on a start test char, I sourced almost 900 ele dam in about 20 maps by running essence for targeted rerolls and expedition for high ilvl items from rog.
This was extremely lucky, don't get me wrong, and I had the atlas run a bit in standard.
Sounds nice 😁 it is obviously RNG but Rog + essence is probably the best way I got an insane quiver last league from Rog
So last league I started with your roa champ. It was very good.

It’s unchanged really. It’s gem got a buff to quality as you can now get 4 additional arrows. Transfigured gem will be interesting as the enchants were just attack speed or damage so it could be something that simple or could be something new
Hi you have a excellent build guide, but i have a question, i want to do a tornado shot caractere, and i dont know what to start between ur Rain of Arrow of a Lighning Arrow b uild. For you what are the pro and con of this two builds ? In one side we have the speed of the Raider but on the LA side i think we have a better clear on map and i didnt know wich one have a better single target.Give me your opinion. Thanks you !
Single target is honestly about the same unless you want to gem swap to barrage every boss with lightning arrow. YOu are right deadeye clears screens way quicker but has the downside of being nowhere near as defensive. If you are deadset on TS and do not mind which build you play to get there I would probably go deadeye LA as less respecing and your LA gear will just carry straight over to TS

I think it could do it but I wouldn’t think it would be the ideal build for it. I think you would need a handful of divines invested for logbooks as you would probably want more single target for bosses. Honestly I would probably not pick this build if running logbooks early is the goal
I was looking to start your RoA this league and glad it survived. I was wondering how RoA fairs against early atlas expedition (with or without the big bomb passive) and potentially with ultimatum, but primarily this vs expedition day1/2/3. Thanks for the wonderful guide!
I did some testing on pretty bad gear in T10 maps running big bomb expedition and it worked pretty well. You just need to make sure you take the mark mastery where marked enemies cannot regen life and the attack mastery where enemies cannot block your attacks. It is not the best expedition farmer but it does it absolutely fine.
How about a champion through ROA, will PoB be relevant from the last version? Will there be a redesign of the champion build?

Thanks for the guide. You've played TS a bunch of times as well - is there a specific threshold you'd recommend transitioning to TS, or as an intermediate step, transitioning to crit?
You don’t really need anything other than levels and a bow with 7.75% base crit to move to crit. I always switch around level 83-85. In regard to TS that’s a bit tricker now kaoms spirit can’t be used. I would want omni and some good attribute gear. However maybe some of the borrowed power from the new ascendancies can help

Precise Technique -> early maps Swap to Crit -> swap to omni (trinity) -> swap to omni (phys to cold) and TS and change ascendency to Deadeye at this point?

It’s probably best suited to heist. Lab is pretty good. If running lab a lot I would get a helmet with more armour than evasion and take the mastery in the onslaught wheel that makes you immune to bleeding.
Hey awesome guide. I am sorry if this is answered somewhere else, but would you recommend this raider rain of arrows build or your 3.22 champion rain of arrows build for a fairly casual player league start. I don't plan on pushing super late game stuff. Maybe just a quick pros and cons and differences of the two builds would be awesome.
Champ is worse up to level 78 but starts to pull ahead if you spend a bit of currency on gear once you equip perseverance belt. Raider is better early and can get to T16 maps much cheaper. They are both fun and fairly simple builds to play. Should be a video out in the next few hours going over Raider in a bit more detail and looking at how to progress early
Hm seems like I found another interesting easy starter. How would you say this compares to TR in Heist-setups (would think TR is still easier because of Bow / color requirements)? I like your super detailed approach to different phases in league starting, too many people just fokus purely on the campaign imho. Some builds excel and then drop off hard in early maps. Once you've had the qol from Raider you tend to miss it on other starters :) Cheers and have a good start in 3.23.
Cheers. I have had a few goes at TR but really did not get on with it. I don't really like builds that do DOTs or delayed damage. I would think once geared they would perform similar, but hit damage has the bonus of being able to leach mana and life and TR cannot really do that

With Deadeye you can scale damage a lot easier because of the ascendancy and clear screens quicker. If you are a good player and experienced in bows deadeye is better if you want to end up going TS. Deadeye has literally zero defences though, it will have some spell suppression early and mediocre evasion. Raider after uber lab will have max evasion and lots of other juicy defences

I saw in another guide (for a competelly different build) people say that "Excess Sustenance" node (15% for 200 life on hit) is very strong, especially early on. And we could even take 50 life regen there on the mastery.
All of that costs 7 points (5 on the 60+ tree), do you think it could be a good idea to take them? Maybe at least temporary?
I feel very tempted to just rush there on the very early levels, but I never played ranger builds, so I'm not sure whether it's ok to postpone other stuff for that and what can I sucrifice around level 80-95 if I still want to keep them.
Any thoughts on this are very appreciated =)
I wouldn’t use those Nodes as you will realistically have to drop life nodes to take them

Hey this is a great guide. I was thinking of starting an EA ballista build, but realized it would be terrible for the new mechanic. This looks absolutely perfect.
My only concern is that galvanic arrow seemed to get me killed a lot since it has a shorter range, caustic arrow felt a lot better since it has a ground degen, but might just be me.
Excited to take this to end-game, I failed 4 aislings in a row this league, so I'm overdue for a GG ele bow :')
There is not much difference between caustic and galvanic so use whatever you feel most comfy with. I died twice in act 1 on my last run for this very reason 😁
One reason to take Caustic for a couple early levels would be that you can keep the Gem until first lab and transfigure it into Caustic Arrow of Poison to sell to all the hype builds that want to use that gem. ;)
@@nemesis1792 Turning the gem into the same gem but transfigured will be a rare outcome which is a shame. You could also just buy it from the act 1 vendor before doing lab if you wanted to take a chance as the gems level up with the vendor

Agree with Juicer it will be fine for expedition and essences but Legion it is not great at due to the way RoA works as a skill. Lightning Arrow deadeye would be much better for legion

No there is not many builds that will be one shot proof as ultimatum can get some tough mods. It should be good though with max evasion. There are things you can do to be tankier so what I might do is add another gear set to the PoB if people are worried about 1 shots

What would you sacrifice to get 4 empty sockets on boots for 30ms boost from the new ascendancy? Other choice would be to go for a different tree, the one with charms, but not sure if that is worth on the first char.
I do not think I would sacrifice anything in maps as the build is already pretty gem starved. In the campaign you do not need the manaforged setup and can manually cast the mark . I plan to do league mechanic in every zone/map so should hopefully be able to go charms when I hit maps
@FuzzyDuckzy What affliction ascendancy to spec into? Should I do warlock, wildwood, or warden. Also is there a specific tree guide?
I went Warden but I am sure there are uses for the others too
Thx for the awesome work ! i 'll definitevely try this at launch. Looking at the gem setup it looks like we can equip boots without gems for warden of the magi ascendency and +30% ms? This + tincture on weapon looks great but because we don't get as much as pathfinder out of flask I wonder if magi is the way to go?
I think Maji is the way to go early and then I think probably primalist or whatever it is called once you start collecting some decent charms. The 30% MS is just such a boost in the campaign and early maps. Gem slots are tight so not sure it is viable in red maps, however to make it possible you could probably just drop mark on hit and just manually mark the boss.

I am going to bring out a video on this but my plan is rush essences, farm them in white/yellow maps to get geared. Then red altars farming to get gear finished then I plan on going ultimatum and probably expedition
Only things I avoid are legion and breech as they are pretty bad for this build

Hello, I love this guide btw. Maybe I missed it in the video, but early on how do we finish ailement avoidance since ascendancy+ 3 step assault gives us 80%, and the unique jewel is expensive at league start?
The life wheel at the bottom of the tree gives 20%

I would think this build could probably do wave 20 but not tried it. Most decently geared league starters should be able to get to 20. This will not be the best for it but would think it would be ok

This would be for your guard skill. Probably a steel skin and if you have another socket either CWDT or increased duration

U make very good understandable and videos like leveling and full build or crafting tutorials even with text files. That's really great n a lot of effort n ROA Build isn't bad at all it's fun I tested it out 1 time
These builds are mainly based on popularity. I try and make guides that people ask for. There is a lot of build variety but some maybe dont feel great to start on no currency. It is also very hard to understand new builds you have to spend weeks understanding the ins and out to make sure your guide is suitable and sometimes people don't have the time
The other issue is that a lot of builds have complexities that a lot of players may not understand and you then end up with bad feedback through no fault of your own

I think till lv 90 maybe 96 and always upgraded my gear n stuff but in my opinion it was way too low damage even in endgame n I switched to ts. You said it's a mapper not a bosser if I remember correctly n it was fun n good starter build that's for sure n I understand ur explaining. Thx

Thanks for the comment. Yes it is definitely viable for SSF I just finished a test run and got the atlas completed in under 15 hours with a 5 link and fairly basic gear. It might be harder to get geared for Uber Elder and Maven but is definitely doable if you take your time

raider starts off smoother/faster
champion is tankier in maps
as for the additional ascendancies i will probably just go for the one with sockets and hope i find something useful to throw in
Honestly I think Champ is better overall but the main feedback I had about champ is people got sick of proccing adrenaline every 30 seconds. Raider is much more beginner friendly mechanics wise. I agree with Nutyu Raider is streets ahead but when geared in T16 maps and fully ascended I prefer Champion
You can compare the pobs, champion has 5x (!) effective hit pool AND phys max hit. But, yes, you'd need to press adrenaline. @FuzzyDuckzy wdyt about adding lightning coil to the raider setup? Not a
panacea, but adds 50% increase in max phys hit which is great. 6L lightning coil should not be THAT expensive to get using tainted currency (spend few hundred chaos on tainted fusings? socket colors seem pretty compatible, can force two blues via bench)
@@Arundel86 lightning coil is ok but the build is quite hard to cap resistances so this just puts extra pressure on the other items so although you might get a 6 link coil for 2 div you might need to spend another 4 on other items. I’ve honestly never had an issue with survivability on raider.

Would you recommend switching to crit if my only goal is to complete the atlas and not get voidstones? I plan to just get about 95 atlas passives and then farm white maps, would switching to crit help me then or just be a waste of time?
Definitely switch to crit you really run out of efficient points on precise technique after level 84+. Crit is just a better build overall and will also make clearing your atlas much easier. You will also easily be able to get the voidstones if you wanted to

Honestly I have no idea how the build would improve or perform with an Aura Bot. I would think you would probably want a build that can utilise auras more and I am not sure this build would be great for that. I only ever play solo sorry
Played your LS Raider in Kalandra league. Will be playing this build as my league starter. What will be required to eventually switch to LS and you use to run the suppression and ailments immunity ascendency’s instead of the onslaught ones, what changed? Thanks for the videos.
WIth bow skills you can get frenszy charges on hit with manaforged arrows so you get more out of the onslaught nodes. Later on when geared you would probably drop the suppression and ailment nodes, het that on gear and then go frenszy and onslaught
Ok I forgot to clarify on your older lightning strike build you use to run the suppression/ ailment ascendency instead of the onslaught one. Is the onslaught one just more damage than the resistant pen?

First time league starting bow build, this looks good and well written. My question is How does it scales with ultimatum?
I am not sure yet. We need to see how difficult ultimatum is. In theory Raider should be pretty good with high evasion, spell suppression, ailment avoidance and phasing. I am certainly going to be giving it go
in theory in a circle area roa must be good but some ultimatum modes might be hard on the build, so u need to check modes, or mr duckz can answer this question more correctly than me :)
I don't remember the name of new ascendancy but the one that gives MS when you have no gems in your boots also have a node that grants Barking skill or something. That one gives more armour before you get hit, and more evasion if you get hit. Wouldn't it be good for your build as it lacks phys mitigation?
I don't think it is worth the bark skill as you have to reserve mana and I doubt it will give enough armour to make it worth it. You are better off trying to get endurance charges and as much phys taken as ele as you can. The only thing I can honestly say consistently kills me on this build are the falling rocks in the minataur fight. Outside of that you just rarely get hit

It's ok. If POE Wiki is correct extra arrows won't increase single target but should improve clear speed
Why are we using Point Blank together with Longshot in the passive tree? Aren't those blocking/hindering each other?
Long shot doesn’t have any downsides it’s more for the proj speed and damage. You would probably drop these when you go clusters

What bosses? Do you mean campaign, map, guardians or pinnacles? Boss killing in the campaign is very quick as you use precise technique combined with point blank which just those 2 gives you 70% more damage. You just have to make sure you are upgrading your bow every few acts since the damage from attack builds scales from the weapon

the main reason for not going champ is just not wanting to proc adrenaline constantly. I think once you get Perseverance it is a slightly better build but Raider definitely gets a comfier start

Could you explain why Raider over Champion this time around?
Played the Champion version last league and it was extremely good between the fortify, banner health regen etc.
Just for a speedier start and bit of a change if you enjoyed champion last league the build hasn't changed so should be just as good

I’m real bad at bossing and the less damage I do the more likely I am to use all my portals by dying to mechanics constantly so I’m trying to cut that time down.
If you only have one 6 link you could put ballistas in your 6 link for consistent damage. The problem is a lot of bosses destroy your totems. There honestly are not really any skills for Raider that do any more damage. Blast rain is ok but really needs more arrows. I would honestly try rand leatn the mechanics in standard as it helps a lot especially in league start.
I am not very good at bossing either which is why I always 6 portal the bosses then map and sell any boss maps/keys that I get. Quest Eater and Exarch you can just brute force and over gear since they are not very strong. There is also the option of buying carries for the other 2 voidstones since a carry is normally cheaper than buying the fragments

I have a question tho. What do you think about rage sustain via warlord's mark? You think it is possible to use it on manaforge setup for berserk and zooming even faster?
I don't really like it. I think it is too much of a compromise and boss damage will be quite a lot worse. I think it is something you could use but personally I think you give up too much. I am also not sure it would work on Raider since it looks like it relies on the deadeye mark ascendancy that transfers marks to nearby enemies. We do not really need the help zooming like deadeye as we get juiced up onslaught which is very quick if you can keep up your quicksilver flask

Why do we take Blind Mastery when those passives only give 20% chance to inflict blind? Is it because we hit with many arrows that the chance to blind becomes higher or am i missing something?
Yeah you will blind everything as will hit most enemies with 4 arrows. We mainly take these nodes for the crit mastery locked behind it
How viable do you think it is to do this with ballistas instead?
I think it would be fine but not really tested as I’m not a huge fan of ballista style gameplay
