I would love to learn more about the occupation of the rhineland by the entente powers after the German surrender and how it affected the Weimar republic, also about the lives of German citizens living in those occupied territories.
It was supposed to be a demilitarized zone. Of course the allies only meant demilitarized by their enemy’s not themselves. That’s how they viewed neutrality also. Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal allegedly neutral yet allowed allied war ships to fill up in their ports or allow allied war planes to cross their airspace. Not allowed for German military but ok for allies. Selected neutrality. Only Switzerland upheld true neutrality, hence they weren’t invaded by the Axis.
Nice overview! For anyone interested, this period is also narrated well in English in Richard Grunberger's 'Red Rising in Bavaria' and more recently in 'Where Ghosts Walked: Munich's Road to the Third Reich' by David Clay Large.
Eugen Levine narrowly escaped being lynched by Freikorps, he was tried, making a famous speech that included the phrase "We Communists are the dead on leave of absence". Great episode. Very informative and excellent footage. In your discussion on the economics of peace you ignore that Britain, as well as France and Belgium to a lesser extent, could still rely on their colonies to rebuild their economy. The other nations lacked such resources.
Great new narrator! Interesting the strong Jewish involvement in the Bavarian Soviet. Was there still great want and even starvation going on in Germany at this time?
Germany makes more sense than Russia of China, Marxist doctrine requires the state to have reached a highly industrial state. Pretty Sure Germany or England were what Marx and Engels had in mind.
Lenin knew it and that's why he adjusted the ideology to Russian reality; the rich industrialists were replaced by rich farmers (kulaks) and the ideology was called Marxism-Leninism. Mao did the same and his ideology is called Maoism.

Your Chanel is the best. I have a question. Is it true that weeks before the Treaty of Versailles it was an attempt of independence in Rheinland supported by the French?
France and Belgium funded a separatist movement which lasted up to about 1923. Future West German Chancellor Adenauer was apparently involved. They were particularly active when the French occupied the Ruhr but they were widely despised as traitors and sometimes assassinated by German nationalists.
The fact that nobody gained anything (except maybe the US against UK hegemony) really shows what a sterile and destructive war this was. The more I learn about it the more pointless it appears. Thanks TGW for this content :)
