- Shin Fujiyama was born in a fishing town in Japan in 1983 and immigrated to the US shortly after with his family. During his third year at the University of Mary Washington, Fujiyama decided to volunteer for a week in Honduras at a girls' shelter without giving it much thought. He had no idea that the short trip would ignite his passion to help vulnerable children so much. A few months later, he launched Students Helping Honduras in his dorm room with his classmates and younger sister, Cosmo. Since then, Fujiyama's organization has taken more than 1,000 volunteers to Honduras and has raised more than one million dollars to help vulnerable children raise themselves out of poverty. His goal is to create a chapter of SHH in every single university in the US.

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. And now in 2021 this guy have build more than 56 schools and speak perfect spanish with a perfect honduran accent. May god bless him and everybody involve.

12 years later, Shin is deemed an "angel" in Honduras.
Has build more than 60 schools with thousands of children getting their education.
Shin has the most successful blog in the country and educates people with everything that is Honduras.
And yet, Shin didnt need to do all this. He did it with the power of his own heart and seeing him on this video has brought tears to my eyes.
I dont know what we did to deserve someone as Shin in our country, but I am forever thankful for him and his vision.

Your are such an amazing person , I have become a fan and now follow you . At first I didn't think much I figured you just a random tourist walking around Honduras and enjoying the site and culture. But wow after seeing this video and hearing what you did to get to the point you at now and what your true intentions are in my home country of Honduras I tip my hat to you . You have touch my heart in such a way , soooo much that I feel so guilty and embarrassed to call my self hunduran . You see I came to this country when I was five in the early 80s and maybe been back twice since that time I guess the guilty pleasure and free opportunity that this great country offers us has made me forget where I come from , in one of your video I saw a young kid who was bare footed and was flying his kite and behind the stick fence house was another boy playing with marbles , I tell you seeing that reminded me of memories of Honduras when I was that age and I could not stop crying.
