"from here to Venezuela there's nothing more to see than a hundred thousand islands flung like jewels upon the sea" are some of the prettiest words ever written, I swear.....
This is what you could call the miracle of musical evolution. Three musicians from buffalo Springfield, the birds and the hollies joining forces and becoming the best harmony group ever.
Amen, brother! I loved the great harmony groups: Beatles, Mamas and Papas, The Association, the Eagles, America, etc. But these guys have the greatest vocal sound, IMO, of them all.
@anthonyrocha7938 I'm not so fast Anthony the birds the hollies The Beach Boys the roches we're amongst the great harmony bands call Crosby Nash stills Neil Young the harmony was tempered a bit by the Guitar of Neil young
This is my favorite version and the hardest to find!! I've already played it 10 times already!! I don't know why but it just takes my mind somewhere else!! I just love it!!!
Yes, distinctly better version than the one I originally downloaded, and more to the point: I completely agree, I'm transported to somewhere "between here and Venezuela" with the breeze filling the sails.
def best version from the 1991 box set, which has some GREAT CSNY unreleased tracks (homeward through the haze...almost cut my hair long version......taken at all.... they have some other great tracks they never released, such as CSN's cover of How Have You Been... Crosby's stuff with the dead etc... too many great songs to count
Crosbys' voice is like no other, strong but sometimes touched with the witfulness of a child. And Nash had the gift of not letting his genius get lost in the magic of CS&N. Stills could rock a melody and when the 3 of them came together to create music; it survived the craziness of drug, drama, egos and life on the edge. I will always love these incredible artists and find joy in their being alive.
Crosby was the eldest, yet the most childish (narcissist & mean bastard lol😅) hence his child like voice and musical demeanour……Stills and Nash were FAR more grounded and in control of “habits” etc David was totally out to lunch most of the time 😅
yes a very good point but not strange any more to me how has stills escaped from guitar notoriety? guitar player after guitar player i have met does not know who he is other than the s in csn stills can fill in any gap in instrument or vocal with just a note live or recorded a master guitarist and sound engineer go back to csn 1 listen and you will hear stills' playing and vocalizing filling the gaps that album has never left me and continues to reveal stills' touch
@@nashvegasnow Likely because he hasn't really done much to make his career noteworthy since. Manassas could have done incredible, what an amazing band, but they didn't. All three members of CSN are vastly underappreciated as artists and folk only ever treat them as one unit.
great songwriter, beautiful voice a true legend it's been an absolute pleasure listening to you and the guys for the past 50 years, rest in eternal peace ✌️ 🙏
It's a very nice version, different from the first one I ever heard which is on the 4-Way Street album and is more haunting in atmosphere. It will always be my favorite version - the one I recall from when I was 13 and had the *8-track* - lol th-cam.com/video/VVxMnNN005s/w-d-xo.html

wow, just hearing this version for first time - astounding - vocals and music, just incredible. a height of csny as a group, can't believe I never heard this, and that this version wasn't ever released on an album. wow, wow, wow. RIP David. I think best vocal by him I have ever heard
I am so happy I discovered Crosby, Stills & Nash in my 20s; they quickly became my favorite band. In this version, David's voice and Stills' guitar make the best version of 'The Lee Shore' I have ever heard. Every time I hear this masterpiece, I feel like I am flying over the sea like a seagull.
I consider David Crosby to be one of the greatest writers that ever lived. He was the Vincent Van Gogh of folk music , or whatever you want to call his works. Like many great artists he had his problems , but he brought so much good to the world and I will always love him for that.
Those with the biggest hearts often hide them safely behind a wall of hard exterior, particularly after having experienced the intense pain of the mediocrity of mind, heart and soul of this world's general populous. What he gives, he gives through his music, and for me, that is enough to love the man like a brother, the visionary brother of a better world. Thank you David for taking me there in your music to visit a time and place far beyond that I'll ever know. It was wondrous, it was life.
David Crosby and Graham Nash..June 1973 at the Waterbury Palace Theater!!! I was 18, with my girlfriend and others... what a magical event... thanks for posting!!
Ohhh l love this song 💟💙,my brother n l used to play it constantly ,sadly he passed and when l hear it bring huge smile like my bro right beside me 🤗🥰😥💙👍👍👌
Rest in Peace David Crosby 08/14/1941 to 01/18/2023. As a 29year old kid who was born in 1993. Your band to me was BETTER then the Beatles. And always will be in my heart as the BEST Band ever formed in history. You and Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young. All four of you were great together And you were a great person despite all the bad times in your life you delt with and survived from. May your soul reunite with the woman you loved long ago. Rest easy David
My all time favorite band! Crosby had the voice of an Angel and Stephen plays the guitar like no one else can. Add Graham and you had the perfect band. Amazing musicians! Love their music ❤
One big music icon gone. Lee shore was one of my fav CSN&Y songs。When I was living in Berkeley、Calif I was a little late for the concert . When I got there Crosby was playing this song.
"Sunset smells of dinner" got damn! Brings me back to my childhood days on Nichols Ave Newmarket N.H playing freely with the other children... A college student played this from their window incessantly that summer.
I first heard part of this version while watching the documentary ‘David Crosby:Remember My Name’. It was like discovering a never before seen Picasso. It blew me away then…and still does. 😮
Awesome tune. Fantabulous guitar fills… New ta me… when’d they record this, right before Davy died? Miracle of technology, ta make it sound like it’s a tune from about 50 years ago, eh? Tee he, he, he….
My podenco spanish hunting dog Billy used to sing along to this .... he passed away aged 16 the day lockdown started ... for the rest of my life every time I hear this (and that’s most days) I hear his song ... thanks David it was nice to see you in person in Manchester a while ago ... keep well
Holy shit! That's beyond words. Different than Crosby-Nash Live 1977. That was a great backup band with David Lindley and such. But this is mind blowing! The harmonies toward the end of the lyric could be the best ever in my opinion. Thank you for the natural high!
This song captures a time, a place and a particular feeling of freedom so amazingly well. It has always absolutely transported me to another place. Thank you guys.
Wonderful arrangement of a wonderfully beautiful song. My favorite Crosby song. I knew he would probably be the first of the four to go, but it the more it sinks in, the more it saddens me. Although the era ended awhile ago, his death certifies it.
Around five years ago a mate suggested we go and see CSN play live in London, but I balked at the £75 ticket price. It was one of the most foolish decisions I've ever made.
I loved this - thought it was beautiful. I was introduced to CSNY when I was too young to truly appreciate what they were all about, however their track Dark Star on an album entitled CSN released in 1977 used to evoke such emotion in me that I will never forget it as long as I live! Since then, the harsh realities of life has numbed my senses somewhat but perhaps now is the time to start listening to them again...listening with intent.
Neil was smart to leave this version unreleased. It made the masterpiece on Deja Vu sound new and fresh. Nothing tops CSN harmonies and that ending with the harmonica from John Sebastian. Is epic.
Yes this is one of the most beautiful songs they have done - this version is definitely the best of those I've heard. Takes me back all those years ago!
so dreamy.... this song is the essence of beauty. my words cannot express how i feel when i hear this song, all i manage to express is that it takes me in an enchanted land
"from here to Venezuela there's nothing more to see
than a hundred thousand islands
flung like jewels upon the sea"
are some of the prettiest words ever written, I swear.....
I am Venezuelan !!! Beautiful song and the name of my country is there!!
Or sung...
Yes this is just such beautiful poetry. Crosby's voice is so beautiful here. But the live version on 4 way Street is my favorite
Glorious words indeed …
My absolute favourite version. Makes me choke up every time. RIP Dave.

This is what you could call the miracle of musical evolution. Three musicians from buffalo Springfield, the birds and the hollies joining forces and becoming the best harmony group ever.
The term SuperGroup definitely applies here. These guys spoke for an entire generation.
Amen, brother! I loved the great harmony groups: Beatles, Mamas and Papas, The Association, the Eagles, America, etc. But these guys have the greatest vocal sound, IMO, of them all.
So glad I was there to hear it happen!
When they applied the name "Super Group" to these guys it really fit. Holy Hell what a trio.
@anthonyrocha7938 I'm not so fast Anthony the birds the hollies The Beach Boys the roches we're amongst the great harmony bands call Crosby Nash stills Neil Young the harmony was tempered a bit by the Guitar of Neil young

professormacdeezy thanks for the info! Agree with all the comments here about this version. Listening to this takes me to a distant beach at sunset

David was totally out to lunch most of the time 😅
He was usually too high to be witful. Wistful? Maybe, probably.
Stills guitar licks = genius beyond genius. Just beautiful. Definition of nirvana.
RIP David Crosby. You will be forever missed and always remembered❤
Love all those guys but I have to say Crosby is next level for me when he's on this form.
RIP David Crosby you will be missed.
This song is just transcendent. And that guitar and harmonica dance at the end is everything.
If the last thing I hear in my mind as I am leaving this world I will go out happy.
Completely agree - I'm going to put this on the sound track that will be played at my memorial service, along with "Desperado".
Johnny Russell touché!
I've thought this also
Strange no one gives credit to the marvelous solo guitar from Stills.
Stills makes the song
This mix was overdubbed slightly
yes.
yes
a very good point
but not strange any more to me
how has stills escaped from guitar notoriety?
guitar player after guitar player i have met does not know who he is other than the s in csn
stills can fill in any gap in instrument or vocal with just a note
live or recorded
a master guitarist and sound engineer
go back to csn 1
listen and you will hear stills' playing and vocalizing
filling the gaps
that album has never left me and continues to reveal stills' touch

RIP David Crosby, good bye legend! This is my favorite csny song!
RIP on the Lee Shore, David 🙏💔
great songwriter, beautiful voice a true legend it's been an absolute pleasure listening to you and the guys for the past 50 years, rest in eternal peace ✌️ 🙏
This song is perfection. It gives me the shivers every time I hear it. Croz's voice just soars, doesn't it?

freaking Stills! man, he can rip with the best of them
Could not agree more!! So under appreciated.

One of David's best songs.
If not the best.
Did he write it?
@@lastnamefirst4035 he did, while at Sea on his schooner
From their sailing days. Some great stuff came out of that time period. As a sailor and ocean person, they are the anthems of my life.
Questa è, perfezione
Their voices often grace Stella Blue, my Tartan 37. Full time cruiser.
Good bye David Crosby! Thanks for sharing your riches.
thanks David you enlightened my days from when I was 15, 48 years ago.
David has one of the most beautiful angelic voices in music history
Such a beautiful song, with soul and harmony. As a sailor this one speaks to me.
The musical soul of a generation!
Bon voyage David, sail on!
Don’t know why this version is NOT available on any streaming service like Apple 🍏 music ….it really pisses me off
This track is such a beautiful reminder of how talented as a musician and poet David was. One of this best tracks he recorded imho!
Stephen's guitar adds so much to an already beautiful song.
All kudos to David Crosby for writing and singing this marvelous song. I loved it since I was 16. :)
My favorite CSN&Y song. Still gorgeous.

Love the shot of Henry Diltz photographing them on stage, right after his iconic shots of the CS&N album cover.
Had really many campfire parties where this was playing in the background. Really great tune to listen to while having chill events.
Beautiful song. I have loved CSN &Y since the beginning ❤❤❤❤❤

A surprisingly difficult song to sing and get exactly right like David Crosby does. This version is so smooth with some great guitar solos.
Good ole Crosby...with Stills guitar Young voice it's a Bingo!
Don't need take drugs to love the good ole hippy days music!
Unbelievable recording, a band that can easily be put on the same level as the Beatles... this is another type of connection, it is beyond music.
Stephen Stills guitar 🎸 tone and style is just totally legendary and unmistakable ❤
