Hi Luke great vlog as per mate :) The 2 Horse head Sculptures are called The Kelpies :) They are 2x30 meter high sculptures depicting Kelpies (shape-shifting water spirits). The Kelpies are two 30 metre (100 ft) high horse-head sculptures located at the Forth and Clyde Canal in The Helix, a 350 hectare parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area of Scotland. They are the largest public artworks in Scotland. Andy set out to design his sculpture of the mythical water horses based on the old working horses of Scotland's waterways, he used two real life models. Duke and Baron are two Scottish born and bred working Clydesdale horses that still ply their trade in a field somewhere in Pollock. A little bit of a insight for you mate :)
found your channel a few weeks ago and have loved it mate! the honesty is so good and refreshing for people in every walk of life not just the driving world.
The Horses are called the Kelpies and on the Forth and Clyde canal, horses were used to pull barges on the canal well before Steam engines were used. To supply coal wood and much more. Great video Regards Will.
Horse head are the Kelpies. They are on one of the Basins for the Forth and Clyde canal, the reason you only see neck and head is because they represent the horses that pulled the canal barges along the canal you could only see there heads as their bodies were under water.
Hi Luke, so cool to see you in Scotland. Those horses are called the Kelpies and are of Clyde Horses (huge), marking the start of the Forth and Clyde Canal. Cheers from Edinburgh
Enjoyed my first visit to your site especially as I stay in Stirling and know the Kelpies in Falkirk/Grangemouth well where they are part of a country park, childrens play park and a canal with locks etc flowing into the estuary and the sea. They are lit up at night in various colours and are quite spectacular. Will look up your other video's. Stay safe. Cheers from Scotland
The Kelpies are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures depicting kelpies (shape-shifting water spirits), located in Grangemouth[1], near Falkirk, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland.[2] The sculptures were designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were completed in October 2013.[3] The sculptures form a gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal, and the new canal extension built as part of The Helix land transformation project. The Kelpies are a monument to horse-powered heritage across Scotland.[4]
Great vlog Luke. I managed to pass my c+e license last Thursday. Had job interview on Friday and start with Conway bailey on Wednesday. Well chuffed. Stay safe mate and hopefully see u on the road. Any chance of a shout out please.
Luke, best way Is Rave to Rave over strap loads like that, I have had many on a rigid than than I can remember. keep safe, and drive safe. ps don't forget rail straps are for under 400kg and over straps can be upto 5000kg.
Nice vlog once again. Tried to see if it was a mate that came out of H+H in H C Davis motor but couldn't tell. Not to worry. Those horses head's in Scotland are the kelpies, thought I'd say
The horse sculptures are called the Kelpies. Kelpies were working horses used to pull barges along canals. They are located at the canal . Folk stories describe Kelpies There as shape shifting mythical creatures on waterways (normally black horse like things. So its a bit of both i suppose. There is also a whole public park been built around them that has a lagoon and play parks. Its a lovely place to visit if you get the chance. They have been there since 2013.
Kelpie, or water kelpie is a shape-shifting water spirit inhabiting the lochs and pools of Scotland. It is a Celtic legend and is usually described as a black horselike creature, able to adopt human form.
Really enjoyed both of these vids Luke especially as being a Scot I can recognise more of the tips/reloads and motorways on these as I haven't a clue about where you go in Southern England.
If you are on the A1 again about 18- miles north of Berwick there is a cafe called the Cedar cafe traditional transport cafe lovely food it's in a big loop laybay normally artics get parked As a lad who likes his food I recommend it
First time watching, random You recommends... apart from a lot of adverts in the first 15 minutes very enjoyable watch. just subbed. Happy and safe trucking to you.
Interesting to see what other truckers do. I just deliver for a supermarket. Day job, home every night. Never really worry about tacho, it's easy to gage breaks and driving time. After a while you know a lot of the stores and have a general idea about the times.
The Kelpies represent the lineage of the heavy horse of Scottish industry and economy, pulling the wagons, ploughs, barges, and coalships that shaped the geographical layout of the Falkirk area.
I always used to park across the way at Leeming Bar, only maybe 10 or 15 spaces but much quieter. Assuming it's still there, gave my licence up in 2016.
Hi Luke, love your videos. In this one at 51:10 you show your load with just the roof straps used to secure the load. I have just completed my CPC and was told that for most loads these would not be sufficient if stopped by VOSA etc. What are your thoughts on this please?

Maybe the trucks would disturb the sleep of a sexually confused lady boy who dreams of being able to actually drive a truck…I dunno. Just a thought.🤣 but thanks for the reply anyway.👌
Hiya Luke! so you're hoping to get a quick turn around at your first drop. Back in the 70s/80s I was just the same. I had the misfortune to be supplying Tesco with dairy products, it was a common thing to be waiting 3or4 hours to get tipped, soul destroying when you've other drops to do. Does anyone else remember those good old days.
Hey hope you're well. The horse heads are what we call The Kelpies. A mythical creature. Got my cpc, theory and hazard perception beginning of next month. Hope the cpc goes well.

Horses were on toe paths beside the canals not in the water.

Nodrogthe1 yes, i meant the horses that they were representing were in the water when pulling the barges.
@@gordonprentice7090 no they weren't. They were on the towpath. Hence the name towpath...
