very surprised the blow out didn't take out the mud guards completely. one thing i will say is don't be so silly to stand in the road filming it, the first little bit was plenty no need to keep filming. eye's on the job in hand so your more likely to see the danger coming, being safe so you get home to your family is way more important than media content. definitely the smart move getting the midlift up and getting round to the hard shoulder, made a bad situation tons safer for everyone, hope other drivers who watch this take note. hopefully you'll get many miles of trouble free running here on in 🤞

LT drivers 😂 London finest drivers just as bad as black cab drivers and I’m a class1 HGV driver and former Coach driver of 20 hrs and I’m saying this. I don’t know where London bus companies get there drivers from cos 99% can’t drive.
@@Fast_car1000 Agree with you entirely. I am talking forty years ago when driving a London bus was thought off as a highly prestigious position. Out of 235 applicants five of us were chosen. A sneaky place to park in Chipping Campden is on Battlebrook Drive (Campden Business Park). Go past it on Station Road and reverse back in to it. I guess it depends where in Campden you are going to though, as the centre of town is a nightmare of narrow roads and sharp corners.
I'm a coach driver. I never use lane 1 when on a smart motorway unless there's a hard shoulder. I like to keep that space there for someone who needs it. Those lay-bys are too far apart and always see foreign drivers taking a break in them.
Very calm with the blow out situation. Totally agree, manners cost nothing. Horrible drivers where Costco is and the roundabout where you come off the m4 at junction 3 and is always horrible where you have drivers going everywhere. Hope all is well, take care
Bloody hell luke main thing is that your OK. I'm no driver what so ever but my dad was a coach driver and now a lorry driver I'm 31 mate but worry about him every night as he works nights could be doing anything or going anywhere but the smart motorways are a bad idea especially like yourself having a blow out and need to stop ASAP but have traffic behind you, no one can predict a breakdown or whatever but there need smart motorways need to be scrapped.
I quite agree about smart motorways. They are very dangerous because they don't or can't shut the lane immediately which means that anyone in that lane doing 70 mph without concentrating could easily smash into the breakdown.
@@roryhennessy7529 As an retired Class1 driver smart motorways are a driver's nightmare. I am not blaming anyone but the government for bringing them in. If a car breaks down, before it is noticed, so that the matrix signs can be altered and the lane closed and it is dark, raining and the drivers to the right do not let you in because they are berks, an accident is highly likely. I have seen vehicles that have smashed into the rear of other vehicles because the broken down one had nowhere to go. There are many factors why, like being on the phone, distracted by the passengers, speeding etc but the fact remains that if a hard shoulder was present the crash would not have occured.
@@johncouriermeh loads of roads have no hard shoulder I think calling them "smart" is the problem When people see "smart" they think they don't have to concentrate or pay attention
A blow out like this, where the rim was very hot, is generally as a result of an under-inflated tyre. While checking tyre pressures is not part of the daily check... it does go to show that there's always more that we can all do - they do like to go bang when under-inflated and under load!
Silly question. Maybe you could address this in a video. But how do you know where your going. i understand signs and a satnav, but when it comes to roundabout junctions how do you know what lane you need to be in, or does everything just move slower when your in a truck? The reason i ask because when im driving i went from Leeds to Canterbury and i didnt know the area at all and ended up getting lost and actually went through london on the way back because of a wrong turn. Is it just down to experience, or do you have a really good satnav that tells you which lane to be in, because mine isnt very accurate google maps.
Combination of things really. Sometimes it’s just experience and a judgement call. other times you read the signs ahead. And sometimes the satnav all day which lane you need to be in. Put all three together and the majority of the time you will find yourself in the correct. However, worst case scenario just take up two lanes if you’re not sure. Highway code states to give large vehicles extra room so you are perfectly within your right. to take up two Lanes Should you deem necessary. If all else fails and you are in the wrong lane and can’t get out then it’s just a case of turning round somewhere
Smart motorways are fine until someone needs the hard shoulder. Then it all goes to rats shit as the saying goes. People maybe be longer travelling to a destination but they have more chance of staying alive which is more important 🤔
It’s a motorway designed to ease congestion by having more lanes opened at a variable speed limit depending on traffic flow. However, to achieve this cheaply and quickly, they removed what we call the hard shoulder which is an empty lane to be used for emergencies like blowouts, mechanical failures or fires ect. So if you brake down on a “smart motorway” you breakdown in a live and active lane. Many accidents and deaths have occurred due to other motorists not paying attention and driving straight into the stationary vehicle
I too had a blowout on a mid-lift, in a live lane, only difference was, I kept going. I would rather have knackered a rim, than risk somebody getting killed, by running into the back of me.
That's why Smart motorways are absolutely dangerous. Some vehicles have come to a complete standstill when somethings happened, and people have been killed. The one on the M56 close to the airport, started off as a Smart motorway, and I noticed that they've carried on working, even though all major works were to cease. They now call it Traffic Control system. Their way of getting round being called a Smart motorway and losing money. And the Range Rover was driving illegally, undertaking to not only get past you, but the truck in front, for what. That's how accidents happen. When its a complex with various shops, its a Retail Park🤣. In France, its "Commercial Center"🤣. Majority of southerners, is that they don't understand the concept of "Less Haste, More Speed" where driving is concerned
I've had blow outs and brake failures on every type of vehicle. Having seen the damage to the tyre I would've driven it to a place of safety if possible. Not like that bonehead driver who stopped his burning truck in a tunnel in Wales, where do they get them from? With regards the front wheel blowout on an artic, once I'd regained control and the rim had shed most of the rubber I realised that the vehicle was easily steerable so I let it roll onto the hard shoulder easily.
