@@ProjectPhoenixMedia The hard drive (SEAGATE) has never worked until I tried, it is FAT32, I followed your steps as carefully as possible, also using the OPL manager to set everything up, but somewhat the PS2 arent able to read the info on the disk, there is a light coming from the hard drive, so there is an connection with the two devices, I've also tried changing settings on auto etc, but none works. First course of action is see if freedvdboot can work on your system: github.com/CTurt/FreeDVDBoot If it does, then afterwards watch any Fortuna Project, OpenTuna, or FunTuna installation video which will show you how to prepare your memory card. Once the memory card is homebrewed, you can run OPL. Or since you have a mod chip, play any burnt cd or play a disc that has OPL on it so you can play games from USB.
USB Util 2.2 did not work. I split my copy of the >4GB game into the DVD folder of my USB drive and OPL does not detect the game. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
External hard drive could format it as ntfs first, then fat32 second. Then copy over a game, rename it properly with opl manager v21.7, and then opl should detect.
Need help, how can I install freemcboot on cheap cards? I see ebay freemcboot cards used cheap cards also, how do they do that? I'm always stuck on that can't bind magic gate situation
It's a catch 22 basically. I have the tools so I can provide FMCB installs. Since you have nothing, you can't do anything because if you had the tools, you'd do it already and be done with it.
I don't recall that yet on my end, although not the best, maybe try usb extreme but AV programs flag it as a virus. If there is a different version of usb util 2.0 try it
Using opl manger v21.7 it renames the games properly on the usb correct? You have latest OPL and usb is either set to auto or manual. It should display a list of games assuming the usb is fat32 formatted with active and primary partition. Some usbs (rare) don't want to be read by the PS2. To confirm this, see if you can navigate the mass drive under ulaunchelf. If you can, then we know it is possible to get usb games to work.
Look at ps2 wiki on wikipedia for dvd and cd based games. Most games are DVDs especially if larger than 700mb. Games use google to find what you need I guess, or rip your own discs
It depends on your method. For me, I have what is called FMCB memory card, and after that boots, I go into the OPL program and then I can load the games from USB. Other people, they may use something called FreeDVDBoot which is a boot disc that the ps2 may or may not read. If it can read it, then they can launch the OPL program manually from usb and play the usb games. If it is a fat ps2, and you have an internal hard drive, there are videos that show you how to install what is called FHDB...once that is booted, then you can navigate to OPL and play your games. Others use a modchip and play burnt discs, or they load a Ulaunchelf file manager disc, and then load OPL to play said games. There are many different ways to get to the same end result, but I agree the difficult part is figuring out which way you want to go. See the ps2 playlist to see more ps2 videos to get a better idea of different methods out there.
Hey can you please help me?I recently downloaded the current opl and it pretty much broke my ps2,it disc read errors my disc based games and when the games do work I found I have to change the region and I can't get swap magic to work again for some reason so what opl do you suggest I use?I might get give up on ps2 modding If it's this bad

Same iso, 8gb Kingston usb, nothing has changed except the OPL version, any ideas ? i dont remember what version i had before the update :c
Yea try 0.9.3 start, or maybe 0.9.2, or maybe 0.8 or 0.7. That's the good and bad of so many OPL versions, some work well and some break games when it used to work fine.
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Hmm, I tried, but it didnt load any files.. Then I checked the USB stick only and it worked better, either the PS2 has an outdated USB port or my hard drive is not eligible to be plugged to other devices than a PC, are you using a USB stick for this?
I never had that before with my legit Sony ps2 controller where a game doesn't respond to controller commands. Good question as ps2-home.com or ps2 subreddit
You have to know the file format. for example if it ( 7-zip ) file you need to download the 7 - zip extractor then extract the file directly on the usb or hdd
OPL compatibility is not 100%, sometimes certain versions of OPL is better for different games, best to check a compatibility list. Some games I found out don't work via usb, but like SMB or internal hdd its flawless. Your mileage will vary.

I've been using pendrive for ps2 games from 3 years but when I used a newly bought pendrive to add new games, my ps2 isn't loading the games on OPL launcher. The older pendrives are still working. Can you tell me what can I do?
Is it formatted the same way fat32? Is it usb 3.0 maybe? Sometimes the ps2 is just picky with usb name brands for whatever reason.
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia @@ProjectPhoenixMedia thanks for your reply... The thing I did wrong was to add games in usb before inserting it in ps2. I inserted usb in ps2 and then I added the games and then it worked.
Thanks for pro tip!
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Hehe
What kind of USB drive you use? I have been looking for a decent sized ones that works.
USB 2.0 is a safe bet, like corsair .
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Thanks for the update, and really appreciate your vids. Yep 2.0 seems to be the best bet. Some 3.0 and 3.1 will work but I noticed some games won't launch.
Good to know, I happen to default to usb 2.0 all the time so these headaches I just never deal with :)
if you could friking make your icons SMALLER i'd APPRECIATE IT. godamn it
Chill out dude!!!
@@DJDevvin its all good bro lol i was just performing and channeling this feeling si had while struggling to play my fav game of all time hahaha
Where did u download the game from
Hi project how do I know if a game is a CD or DVD I just downloaded the Simpsons hit and run and it is 647 mb and I have no idea how to tell if this would be a CD or not
I believe there is a wikipedia for ps2 games that tells you which games are cd or dvd based
Is this a way to defrag games? I’ve been having problems with my isos
Use windows defrag or smartdefrag or any freeware program.
I just dont understand why when I plug the hard drive into the slim ps2.. why it wont bypass the freemcboot logo and then if I start the ps2 without the hard drive inserted it works to bypass, but when I open the OPL, there is nothing to show, no games, nothing at all. Why is this happening? Im running funtuna and I followed your steps as accordingly.. It doesnt work on funtuna I guess. Great tutorial by the way!
Has the usb ever worked at all with the PS2 in the past, or this is the first time? Is it fat32 format with active partition? Games installed correctly and checked by OPL Manager?
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia The hard drive (SEAGATE) has never worked until I tried, it is FAT32, I followed your steps as carefully as possible, also using the OPL manager to set everything up, but somewhat the PS2 arent able to read the info on the disk, there is a light coming from the hard drive, so there is an connection with the two devices, I've also tried changing settings on auto etc, but none works. The USB has always worked from the beginning, from getting the homebrew to actually being able to play games from the OPL, the only exception to ps1 games, which worked with changing the POPSTARTER to ELF to be able to prompt, Im kind of new to this, so there are a lot mind boggling understandings to consider. It could also be that it is running on Funtuna.. But Im not highly sure if that matters at all
I dont know... i just wanted to download Tenchu: Fatal Shadows . Show tutorial please?
We cannot do that kind of stuff on this channel, no need for copyright strikes or bad actors reporting us. Use google.
im having an issue opening and running some games on OPL on my ps2 would you have a solution by chance
???? it says god of war is fragmented
Defrag the usb and try to see if that helps
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia what do you mean defrag ?
I need help, my Ps2 wont even boot up the opl. Just the default ps2 menu.
Is it running fmcb first or what is your exploit?
How to install opl software in ps2 with only using usb
i want ps2 boot logo when loading games of opl can you please make avideo on it anytime soon
I can't do that nor anyone in the ps2 homebrew community can, so you are out of luck for now. Wishful thinking though
can hard disk(internal one using case or external) be used in similar way or only thumb drive and not hard disk???
External hard drive is ok too.
Do you have tutorial of upgrading internal PS4 HDD on 5.05 from 500Gb to 1TB, without losing Jailbreak and keeping games?
No I don't. I'd think after upgrade you have reinstall jailbreak and all games
Jorge Ignacio Cisneros Saldaña just use a usb hard drive
My ps2 is 9xxxx model with matrix infinity 1.93 i have the matrix menu and my memory card is newly purchased normal one, I don’t know if opl will load ? Or if I plug a pen drive with iso game will to show up?
Or do I have to do a dvdboot and install opl on the memory card ?
See comment on the previous video I just left.
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia which video?
Can’t u just tell me what must be done after I’ve given my system’s info? It’s hard I’m trying I just need the right guide after matrix infinity
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia so for the burnt disk, do I have to put the burnt disk with opl each time to play from the usb???
Or how to only use usb / mc ?
USB Util 2.2 did not work. I split my copy of the >4GB game into the DVD folder of my USB drive and OPL does not detect the game. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Not sure what to say here as USB Util 2.2 worked fine on windows 10 64bit machine. The split files go into root of USB, not into DVD folder.
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Ah ok. That's where I messed up. I put the split files in the DVD folder.
My eternal hard drive is not showing it use show but after I used winhip on it it stopped showing on the ps2
External hard drive could format it as ntfs first, then fat32 second. Then copy over a game, rename it properly with opl manager v21.7, and then opl should detect.
I did the same process but my ps2 says that game is fragmented what to do please help!
I think this too late but you just use "deffrager" to derag the fragmented file
Need help, how can I install freemcboot on cheap cards? I see ebay freemcboot cards used cheap cards also, how do they do that? I'm always stuck on that can't bind magic gate situation
It's a catch 22 basically. I have the tools so I can provide FMCB installs. Since you have nothing, you can't do anything because if you had the tools, you'd do it already and be done with it.
i get stuck in a infinite green or pink loading screen

How to install opl in ps2, my ps2 model is 90004 and it doesnt have opl and also memory card
Best to buy a fortuna memory card, or if you know someone who has modded ps2 they can make one for you
This method works for me using a 64gb USB stick, but not the same method on an HDD (other games are fine), am I doing something wrong?
Hard drive is formatted properly and has enough power?
How many regular size Ps2 games "fit" in a 4g pendrive approximately?
like one lol
i have ps2 slim and and SSD but when i boot it, it is stuck on freemcboot splash screen im using transcend 128gb ssd
Is it because FMCB config file is on ssd? Unplug usb, start FMCB, then plug back in.

I know this is a little bit late, but is there a fix where when I copy games with more than 4GB, the USBUtil get stuck in the middle of the process?
I don't recall that yet on my end, although not the best, maybe try usb extreme but AV programs flag it as a virus. If there is a different version of usb util 2.0 try it
Bro the game backgrounds are not showing
Ive done everything in the video yet nothing pops up on OPL in the USB section. Any help?
Using opl manger v21.7 it renames the games properly on the usb correct? You have latest OPL and usb is either set to auto or manual. It should display a list of games assuming the usb is fat32 formatted with active and primary partition. Some usbs (rare) don't want to be read by the PS2. To confirm this, see if you can navigate the mass drive under ulaunchelf. If you can, then we know it is possible to get usb games to work.
wher download CD folder i have any app but I can't download CD folder
CD folder make it manually but only if you have games that are CD based, not DVD based.
How do you know a game is a dvd or cd.........and what website did u use to download the games?
Look at ps2 wiki on wikipedia for dvd and cd based games. Most games are DVDs especially if larger than 700mb. Games use google to find what you need I guess, or rip your own discs
so you don't have to boot load anything to the ps2? it should run these stock?
Get latest opl daily build. OPL doesn't break lasers or cause disc read errors, not sure what you got going on.
Hello, Thnx you for the video! I have 1 problem. If i have 1 game on my USB OPL shows the game en play the game without problems. Buf if i have 2 games on my USB OPL shows only 1 game. Can you tell me what i do wrong?
Try using usb util 2.0 to add more games, and use opl manager latest version that should help.
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Thank you for the quick answer! I will try i out!

If i have first copied FIFA then shows OPL only FiFA. If i have copied Harry Potter first then show OPL only Harry Potter. Could it be related to the .cfg file?
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia The games smaller then 4 GB shows OPL manager and i play them without problems. Could I have incorrectly converted games larger than 4 GB?
Games larger than 4GB use usbutil to split them
Hello, hope you can help me. I updated the OPL version on my Ps2 and now some games wont boot, example Rule of Rose, used to work fine before the udpate but now it get stuck after the PS2 Logo.
Is it okay if even games smaller than 4gb i split them because I have smaller games split and they work fine
Sure not a problem.
Whenever I plug a hard drive to the ps2, it gets stuck on the free mcboot logo, why is that?
Plug it in afterwards, maybe it is trying to load some fmcb conf file off the usb?
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia Hmm, I tried, but it didnt load any files.. Then I checked the USB stick only and it worked better, either the PS2 has an outdated USB port or my hard drive is not eligible to be plugged to other devices than a PC, are you using a USB stick for this?
I typically use USB stick since I do a lot of testing with small files.
How to play bin/cue file under 1gb, because format iso is larger than 1gb
Convert to vcd with me PSXVCD
I have a problem with some games. Games launch but i cant play them. Controller doesn't respond for some reason. Do u have any suggestions?
I never had that before with my legit Sony ps2 controller where a game doesn't respond to controller commands. Good question as ps2-home.com or ps2 subreddit

this download when it done it show me a error why???
Not sure, accept if flagged as virus or try different browser. All home-brew elf files are clean

What do I do if OPL doesn’t recognize a .iso file I added to a usb drive?
Time to use opl manager to fix the file name.
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia I fixed it using another method
how tf do i make it iso cuz when ever i download ,,iso,, game its in win rar an inside is bunch of files but no isooooooooooo
You have to know the file format. for example if it ( 7-zip ) file you need to download the 7 - zip extractor then extract the file directly on the usb or hdd
Unfortunately certain games work. Like it will load a screen, but nothing else.
OPL compatibility is not 100%, sometimes certain versions of OPL is better for different games, best to check a compatibility list. Some games I found out don't work via usb, but like SMB or internal hdd its flawless. Your mileage will vary.
@@ProjectPhoenixMedia that's probably it also. HDD will probably play most games i want to play.
Is it possible, that not every under 4GB Game is playable from the flash drive or is it just my ps2?
Defrag, or turn off fragmentation check. Can also check opl compatibility lists too
the usb thing is not only a trojan
but also a ransom
Please use usb util 2.0+ now these days.
