    My older brother (who is 11 years older than me) owned a ps2 slim and it was one of the first consoles that I remember playing, fast forward 15 years later and I still use it so this day to play guitar hero 2. It’s crazy to still see it work to this day.

      @@crazycraft6756 The PS2 alwas was, and still is; a far cry from the least expensive DVD player available.
      P.S. _"Cheap"_ is a word that speaks on quality, _"expense"_ is a word that speaks on price. Even I know this, and English isn't even my first language.
      P.S.S. I feel like I should note that the PS2 is still my favorite console to this day. I own a PlayStation from every generation (up to 5), a Sega Genesis (w/ the Sega CD add-on, and a Game Genie), a Dreamcast, and an Nvidia Shield Pro. So don't get me wtisted thinkin' that I am just hating on the PS2, I'm not.

      @@Ichihiro36 Thank you for correcting me and yes I also know the meaning I just use words that basically mean the same thing because I know that most people will understand what I meant by cheap. As for the price I always thought of the ps2 as a inexpensive multipurpose machine.

      @Ichihiro36 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crazycraft6756 You're welcome for correcting you (AKA point taken, my bad... it's just that the whole _cheap vs inexpensive_ thing is one of my pet peeves. ' Couldn't help myself.)
      You also have a nice console colection, I've been wanting to add Nintendos to my collection for a while now so I'm super _'jelly'_ of your SNES. I want the OG NES, the SNES, the N64, and the switch. *Those* are the additions I want from Nintendo. _(I want consoles from other manufacturers too.)_ I do technically have a regular NES, but it's my original from childhood, and it's been broken since the late 90's. There are a lot of us retro gamers out there, still collecting old consoles, enough to support multiple retro game shops in Portland Oregon USA, at least 4 that I know of. So it's more common than you think.
      Also I was being too harsh; I've been speaking English for over 30 years now... I don't get to act like native speakers should know better than me... not after all this time.

    You asked "why" toward the end of the video... the answer is simple. The Playstation 2 only has USB 1.1 ports (1.5MB/s), which has even less bandwidth than the CD speeds (3.6MB/s) and DVD speeds (5.28MB/s). Since most PS2 games are on DVD discs, only games that were relatively small but still pressed onto DVDs (mainly the outer edge of a DVD disc for speed reasons) will play from USB. Most of the data for any game that fails to work will be in the form of full motion videos and textures, both of which require higher bandwidth than the USB ports are capable of providing.

    USB1.1 should have enough bandwidth that it should rival the read speed of a DVD Drive. But yeah, loading games through USB is heck slower on PS2. Loading games via SMB (network shares) is a lot better, though SMB is known to be a CPU hog when used but it works much better than USB in PS2. best way on a slim it to combine FMCB memory card and use a cheap $25 micro router with USB share or cheap $25 android tv box with USB extended storage capability. That way you can hook up a USB thumbstick or HDD at USB2 or USB3 speeds to the micro router or android tv box and use an ethernet cable to connect that device to the slim's ethernet jack and get 100Mb/sec thruput on loading your isos in OPLs network mode. Didn't really care about gaming as an adult but had an old PS1 plugged in that I'd occasionally play with friends. A buddy thought he'd do me a favour and bought me a cool new game that we'd seen in an advert for Christmas (a costly purchase at the time). I went to pick it up (it was an early release) and found that it was for the PS2; didn't want to tell him and burst his bubble so I bought a PS2 slim right then and there (grudginly :). Never did tell him and we both played the game with enjoyment ...

The Ps2 fat black condole I got last week from my future son in law cause he had enough of it and was just collecting dust . He gave it to me for free with 2 controllers , 2 memory cards , 1 camera, 2 ps2 games and as well as the ps2 remote ! I will never sell them and keep them for life and will sure take good care of them both as the current Ps5 is very expensive. Well I'm very happy and excited to have both ps2 consoles😀👍👍👍

      Finnished testing, and to no surprise a SSD doesn't give you more performance butbof course is near-silent. Also, for an "internal" solution, 1 TB is not a viable option due to limitations of the file system, so it's fair to say, an IDE to SD card mod is a more "user-friendly" approach.
