In this movie they didn’t show fully Lily’s mom explanation why she stayed with her HusbandIn the book Lily’s mom reason why she stayed is she gave him more chances to change. She thought that she could change him every abuses she takes, she gave him more chances until it was too late . I guess that’s one of the motivations Lily decided to leave Ryle early.

Some abusive men will abusive their girlfriends or wives but not lay a hand in the child. Of course, I’d be hyper vigilant and if possible request supervised visits be done but even that wouldn’t last long and ultimately he would get his parenting time with the child per the law.
A lot of women never file reports just leave or try to . When I couldn’t deal with the horrific abuse any longer and had him arrested all hell broke loose ! For 16 long years court abuse !!
