    The fact John is so good at bench gives me hope. Doesn’t look like he’s built particularly well for it. Long arms etc but still the best by far

    • @ivang8805

    • @jermaineayivoh8263
      @jermaineayivoh8263 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      “Poor” leverages are somewhat overrated . Yes having long arms will theoretically make it more difficult to bench since you have to go through a longer range of motion. But mass beats leverages. Try to pack on as much mass as you can on to the prime movers that are involved in a bench press to help yourself out.

    • @a-a-rondavis9438
      @a-a-rondavis9438 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      John's a legit world-class level freak. He may not look like Eddie Hall, but the dude defies physics. I wouldn't use him as an inspirational reference lol.

    • @a-a-rondavis9438
      @a-a-rondavis9438 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jermaineayivoh8263 leverages matter more than mass in my opinion. You can pack all the mass on you can, but soembody out there is just built for it and can leverage it up with ease. The lever length matters more than the force applied to the lever.

    • @jermaineayivoh8263
      @jermaineayivoh8263 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@a-a-rondavis9438
      Have you ever thought that longer levers mean more mass that can theoretically be packed on. Mass moves mass.
      People with short femurs for example have better levers to squat more weight. But if someone else has femurs that are 3 inches longer (and therefore theoretically worse levers for squatting than the guy with shorter femurs) thats 3 more inches on which he theoretically could pack more mass onto.

      On your first meet, have fun and try to go 9 for 9. You'll be nervous, but once you get a meet or two under your belt, you'll have experience to deal with the multiple nuances meets present. An experienced handler/coach is a huge plus as well. And do what John advises, always practice the commands and do every training lift to competition standards to program your motor skills for perfect execution. Again, training with experienced powerlifters is a huge plus as you can absorb their experience and be more confident that you are executing each lift to perfection. For my first meet back in 1984, I was a mental mess, but my coach (who had a 1900 total) made it an incredible experience as I went 8 for 9 barely missing my last deadlift due to fatigue from the excessive nervous energy waisted.

    Question John. I know AI training apps are slowly growing and will probably continue to do so more and more in the coming years. The other two that I know of and have tried are Sheiko Gold and Juggernaut AI. If I heard correctly on Bromley’s podcast it’ll start at $14.99 which more than twice as cheap as Jugg and I think still a little cheaper than SG. If you are familiar with either of those two apps I’d like to know how Evolve AI will differ. Obviously the training style will be different to a degree. Is there anything else you can bring up at this time or in the Q&A you’re looking to do? Thanks.

  • @archmaesterofpullups
    @archmaesterofpullups 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You mentioned retaining more water from the testosterone. Do you use an AI to water cut? I know that it is fairly common to use 1mg of anastrozole 8 days out such that the non-suicidal nature of it will cause estrogen to rebound on meet day but will keep estrogen low while cutting water.

    In your opinion, what do the powerlifting community and top level powerlifters need to do to grow the sport so that the pros can really make a good living off competing and endorsements/sponsorships? It’s been amazing to see some of the top strongman competitors make that shift over the last 10 years.

    • @mustang8206
      @mustang8206 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well the IPF getting rid of exorcist archers was a big first step, if the other feds will follow that will help make the sport not be such a joke. Also having shorter meets because watching people max for 8 hours is very boring let's be honest. If they were to divide the meets into a women only day and a men only day that could help cut down on the time length. Maybe also having 2 platforms could help? Or even just showing a recording, I know many strongman fans cry about WSM not being livestreamed but again most people would find 8 hours straight of strongman boring, so they record it to edit out the boring lifts. Or maybe they could have it live but have each lift done a different day just like how the World Series or NBA finals are done over the course of multiple games. Finally they just need to promote the sport, they need to put up ads for meets and start hosting them in arenas or convention centers instead of gyms
