    Hey John, sick video man! Can't wait to see what you put up on the platform! Can you please ask Andy what is his reasoning for wearing a hip circle band around his thighs? Is it to keep reminding him self to torque out and create more tension in order to activate the musculature better? Or is it to try and put the emphasis on glutes more and "activate" them? Because a lot of coaches out there say that this doesn't do anything for the glutes (hypertrophy specifically), so from a strength training perspective & powerlifting, what is your reasoning personally? I am genuinely interested to hear your answer as a coach myself

    • @jadenslone7
      @jadenslone7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’re losing lat tightness and that’s why they’re flaring out, keep your shoulder blades tucked and try to bend the bar like you’re pushing your pinkies together. Do that before you start the press and basically the whole way through the movement

    • @MHB30
      @MHB30  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Quads may be pulling too much on your patella. You could try adding some extra hamstring work to help balance it out. But could be a lot of things causing it and I’m not an expert

    yo john, I notice that when you bench you try to make minimal contact with your chest and the bar. I think this is pretty uncommon (most people sink the bar into their chest a bit, especially julius maddox), so I'm wondering if there is something you know that we dont, or if its simply preference

    • @TimmSmmith
      @TimmSmmith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just a technique I think. Kirill Sarychev, the previous bench press record holder, also didn't let the bar sink. Fully controlled ascending right to the chest and full stop at the contract.

    • @BL-161
      @BL-161 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BL-161 yeah looked easy, but I watched some interviews with him and he said that it may seem like he has a lot more in the tank but 5-10 more kilos and he won't lift it. With his technique you either do it right or you don't do it at all.
