thank you for another great video
i have learnrd a lot from you about bloodsugar insuline etc
      now one question...
i have atrial fibrillation...my heart is healthy so its caused by stress and mental stress
they have me pills for hpb... to slow down the puls and bloodthinning but i dont take them because i dont need them in my opinion
and... they say that nothing can cure this and it will be worse
but i have learnrd to not trust the doctors and... that cortisol is a huge trigger
so the question is what do you know about atrial fibrillation?
and what can avoid the heartraces?

I appreciate your work, but if you are going to persist with this model of causation regarding insulin resistance then you should at least address the criticisms raised by Ted Naiman and Ben Bikman. You have not done that, and it makes your ideas seem out of date.

you know how you mentioned exorcise and said you have other videos? might have wanted to expand your mention of "trans fats" to vegetable oil too and said the same thing "I have videos about that." Other than that small trifling complaint this is an ideal video to introduce a newb to what you teach.

I'm a physician and I have to say that this was the single best presentation on insulin resistance that I have ever seen---by far! It is absolutely the case that conventional Western medicine has completely misunderstood this process, and virtually all the recommendations that are made to patients are the opposite of what should be done. I will be recommending this video to everyone who asks me for dietary advice, since it's a perfect way to understand how diet affects the body.

5 minutes in and it sounds like he’s on the right track. But he isn’t the first to say this.
Robert Lustig has several lecture presentations on TH-cam where he explains all of this, going back to at least 2012. Lustig explains how every kind of macro is metabolized and what it metabolizes into.
He further explains how the hoax research paid for by the sugar industry in the mid 60s wound up getting one of the paid researchers appointed head of the USDA, which led to the creation of our food pyramid and low fat infatuation, which basically every disease association and the AMA have endorsed for 40 years.
That is at the root of why our obesity rate skyrocketed and metabolic disease along with it. But metabolic disease exists in higher numbers in lean people.

20 years as a diabetic, and I was at the end of my rope. My Dr prescribed more insulin, and I gained an extra 20 pounds and felt like crap. I'm on week 6 of Keto and OMAD, and I'm off all medications, and my blood sugar levels are much better than using insulin. I also never have my blood sugar bottom out, which was common for me with insulin. This works. In my opinion it is much easier than taking a load of medicine.

oh my God, yesterday I finally found TH-cam and your Instagram when I was looking for a doctor who had the same opinion that taking diabetes medicine didn't help my mother's disease at all, it actually made it worse, right? . 28 day ago I threw away all my moms sugar medicine and insulin injections and advised her to fast, only eat 2 time a day and in just one day it has been proven that blood sugar has dropped drastically and anemia has improved. The knowledge from the doctor made me more confident that I was right and I was even more sure that my mother was not sick. Just want to say, you are the best 👍

My 80+ year-old mother is morbidly obese, has swollen ankles, cateracts, osteoarthritis, and all kinds of stuff. I tried pointing her towards some of these videos, but she insists her doctors tell her she is not pre-diabetic, and that she trusts them more than someone from the internet. So I guess I'll just be happy that I've taken care of my own health with the knowledge I've gotten from this channel. You can lead a horse to water, etc.

Another disease strongly linked to insulin resistance is PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). If the ovary cells become insulin resistant, they cannot properly convert testosterone to estrogen, therefore the ovary produces a lot of follicles which cannot ovulate and over time they grow and become cysts.

He said, "don't eat anything white." I took his advice and I have lost 58 pounds without any effort. I went from 183 lbs to 125 lbs. As a type 1 diabetic for some 30+ years, this advice is what saved my life, some 20+ years ago. Only I didn't have the luxury to watch it on a TH-cam video. Nor was there any medical professionals, prepared to suggest insulin was the problem, when it was considered the cure. Especially for type 1 patients. I was a brittle diabetic, meaning my blood sugars were erratic and not responding to insulin injections. I was put through the ringer with specialists, but eventually placed in the too-hard basket, because I didn't conform to their treatment model. Eventually told, it was just the progression of the disease - of which, I had a more aggressive case (ie: brittle). Left on my own, I decided to fast - as my body instinctively knew what the problem was. Only when avoiding the high carb diet, recommended for treatment, would my blood sugars stabilise again.
I inadvertently discovered the problem was too much insulin, when doctors were prescribing it as the only cure. Which it is, for type 1 patients. But it's the recommended diet, that goes along with prescribed insulin, causing the problems. You described perfectly, how the medical diagnosis is framed within limited parameters. It essentially meets the pharmaceutical treatment plan, rather than recognise and work with, the body's natural predisposition to adapt. Removing myself from that dangerous loop, is what saved my life. So thank-you for verbalising the solution, in a way that recognises the cycle of it's manifestation. Hopefully it will help others, sooner!

The medical industrial complex's failure to properly research and diagnose and treat insulin resistance and diet and microbiome and sleep and vital nutritional deficiency issues (including those related to Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 and Magnesium deficiencies as well as iatrogenic prescription medication usage) is a major reason why psychiatric iatrogenesis is a primary contributor to the third leading cause of death in the U.S. (which is iatrogenesis in general). If the U.S. spent just a fraction of the over $40 billion each year it spends just on iatrogenic psychiatric drugs alone, for properly researching the issues discussed in this and related TH-cam presentations we would probably, Lord willing, achieve an absolute revolution in medical efficacy improvement and iatrogenesis reduction.

To make a long story short since this past November, I stopped cold the consumption of sweets and refined carbohydrates, and that includes bread, even the whole wheat/grains type! I also incorporated a more physically active lifestyle, such as every other day walks; 3 to 6 miles at a time! intermittent fasting has always being part of a daily habit for me for quite sometime; only that this time I extendend it! I noticed since all those changes, that loosing weight (not being obese or fat myself) has become so much much easier. Many long lived people around the world eat diets which are 60 - 80% carbs yes there is false information all over the place about diets and I can smell it a mile away. This is why you don’t see as many fat people from Japan who eat plenty of rice and and people from South America who eat plenty of potatoes as you see in the United States which eat mostly animal products and processed foods and the diabetes is out of control. If you have bad fats in your cells insulin cannot bring sugar into the cells which cause a build up of sugar in the blood and cause insulin levels to remain high. Getting to a proper weight by eating a proper diet is the only answer and yes this is my opinion based on 7 years of study on food and health you should consult with a doctor that you trust. When someone tells you to take something or eat a certain thing for a certain reason ask them what the metabolic pathway in the body is for that particular advice is and if they can’t give you an answer don’t believe it.

Thank you so much for talking to us in a way that is very easy to understand, I fought with my doctor insisting I was insulin resistant and he wouldn't give me the Insulin Resistant test. He suggested Prozac to reduce anxiety. It is important to know yourself and help yourself and the internet and your postings have provided me with very valuable information to give me the tools to do so!!!!

    Great video as always doc.
It drives me crazy when people say diabetes can’t be cured. Well, guess what? Nobody ever caught Type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance while walking down the street or sitting beside a diabetic on the bus. They are self-inflicted conditions that arise from bad dietary choices.
Assuming one’s pancreas is still functioning, ending those bad choices can reverse T2D rather quickly and IR over a longer period of time. And if one stays with it and doesn’t resume eating garbage, they will not return.
That sounds like a pretty good definition of “cured” to me.

My doctor was saying I was prediabetic with a fasting blood sugar at 100 to 120 and blood pressure around 150/90. Now fasting sugar around 65 - 70 and blood pressure 120/75 since following your advice and cutting out most carbohydrates. Also take ACV daily. I've lost more than 60 pounds since the beginning of the year without loosing muscle mass! Thanks, Dr. Ekberg.

I've questioned the statement that the pancreas could not create enough insulin for type 2 diabetics. Before going keto, I used to take gluburide. It caused my pancreas to create/release insulin. It released so much that once I was on keto, that was the first medication I had to end to avoid hypoglycemia.

Thank you Dave Post. In the vast majority of type 2 diabetics, the pancreas is not the issue. A small percentage of people start to develop an autoimmune attack over time called LADA, Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults. They slowly and gradually lose the ability to make insulin and turn into T1D, but this is a very small percentage. 😄

Great video!!! I just got back from my doctor’s appointment and this video makes a lot of sense. My doctor wasn’t too happy with me doing keto. He started asking me a lot of questions and he wanted to know in detail what was I eating. He just gave me an order for lab work to check my A1C again after two months because he wants to give me metformin, but I refused. I told him to wait for these new test results and we’ll talk again. It’s scary to go to the doctor these days now. Thanks for sharing this important information

I have a question.. why in type 2 diabetes when the Pancreas cannot make insulin anymore to keep up is considered reversible but in a type 1 situation the cells cannot make insulin and is considered not reversible?

    • @georgewilson1457
      @georgewilson1457 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

In type 2 the cells in the pancreas gum up with fat and are put to sleep, remove the fat and production starts up, in type 1 its an autoimmune attack that kills the cells
and the cells will never start up.

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Thank you Mohammed Rehman. Watch the video again to get some of the finer points. In type 2 diabetes the pancreas has no problem making insulin.😄
