Shared universe is very different from crossovers. A shared universe just means they’re all in the same universe whether they cross or not. But they’re included even by mention in the continuity. A shared universe doesn’t mean crossovers everywhere. So you can have different things in the same universe that can be their own thing without forcing unnecessary crossovers.
That was Agatha All Along are doing and what Eternals did and i very much apreciate. To me, the worst thing on MCU is that FOMO around new projects were you watch a whole 2-hour-long movie and feel no stisfaction and them a bad written/bad filmed post-credit scene pops to remember you "hey, next movie will be great"... but the next movie never is.
MCU made the mistake of making it necessary to watch average streaming shows to understand large plot points in their movies. Having everything fit into it's own understandable story whilst having an overarching narrative which eventually leads to a culmination is the best way to go forward. They just need to not the mistake of having for example something that happens in an animated project important to the LA movies, which I think they'll avoid doing. They just need to make sure if they tell singular stories they are clever with their budgets as some people may feel less inclined to watch a lesser named character if their narrative isn't crucial to the big picture. For example they should avoid something like Swamp Thing being a $200M movie if it's going to be very standalone and a "gothic horror". At most something like that should be $100M maybe even $80M
Also I don’t think he plans on playing it as safe as the MCU. Rather each project will take on its own unique and definitive nature, unrelated to others unless involved in Justice League or another team.
Gunn Better get people hooked 👀with the 1st 3-5 projects Cause if the audience doesn't find supergirl important than what about swamp thing or Peacemaker (a show I like) This is dc's last chance🤞
I think if the movies were good and make the audience leave the theaters with a sense of satisfaction, that their money was well paid, they'll keep coming back for more movies. That's how DC Nolan's batman worked. That's how MCU worked. People like to think the shared universe is the one single reason MCU worked. But the other reason is that most movies had a baseline of quality that made people left the theater feeling well. They laugh, they watch some good action, good efects, they leave. Whem a new movie pop out "hey, look, here's a new marvel movie". Like 80% of the audience doesn't really care to draw all the conections as much as we do. So i think this approach is the best he could. If each movie keep being good, people will create an habit to keep coming back just the same way they got used to Marvel. MCU started to set themselves to failure whem made seem like every project should be a big deal, engeneered this FOMO around MCU projects, and them relesased like 6 or 8 in a 1 year span and mostly weren't really satsfacting for overall audience or fans. Make standalone movies with complete histories but keeping them in a cohesive universe without mandatory watch is a great approach.
I think the whole thing where everything from movies to video games and animated projects tie together in some way is excessive personally. Movies and shows, sure but not everything has to be linked and with the same actor and whatnot.
Every movie doesn’t need post credits scenes and to scream explicit interconnectedness. Have good standalone movies and acknowledge that they’re part of the universe during the movie
I also think this is the best way to approach the DCU. They’re basically going to do it the way Marvel did with the MCU but they’re planning to do it. Better is how I feel and I’m 100% OK with that. Marvel has proven that this formula works DC just needs to make it their own.

I'm tired of people acting like there are so many shared universe franchise. We have the MCU and that's it. Don't be lazy DC and connect these stories dammit.
The problem of shared universe never was the shared universe. The problem is unnecessary crossovers and engeneered FOMO to make you feel obligated to watch every single project and them delivery undercooked shit and use a unnecessary amount of conections to justify you keep coming back. Shared universe is cool, but it's a lot cooler whem is a cherry on top of a delicious cake and not a body spray on a pile of shit.
I think people should be able to watch what shows they want unless there is a connection. You don't have to watch every DC movie or show that comes out just the ones that you think you like. You're not going to miss anything by not watching everything.
I have no issue with shared universes I think they should be limited to TV where it's proven to have a greater success, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Stargate being prime examples. When it comes to films though I'm not a fan because it limits creativity.
Stargate is genually awesome. I also thing Arrowverse did great with shared universe despite their obvius limitations in budget and even screenwritting. But you could tell they did their best.

Not really, CW just trying to cover up how they can't afford to keep it going. They've literally had to cut half the supporting cast to part time roles because of budget cuts
After watching the latest episode of "the Penguin" i realized that Bob Kane and Bill Finger probably didn't design batman to be in a universe with other superheros...And I believe that if the DCEU is gonna make anything stick we need different versions of these heroes. To represent a different interpretation of the characters. Comics have a long history of story telling, as long as the story is good, good vision and direction to go along with it the DCEU should be solid 🤷🏽♂️ i dont mind having 4 different Batmen or 3 different Wonderwomen, just as long as they are completely separated and have they're own story. We don't need an across the spider-verse live action DC version. It's okay to have separate stories...
This is one of a few reason DC mythology struggles to translate to live action. Reboot Batman over and over and over and over again...as a human, that could never actually have metahumans in his storylines, then Wonder why we can't have Batman and Superman in the same story. So, we make Batfleck superhuman, doing superhuman things. Battinson won't have metahumans, unless they make him superhuman too.
Then in order to have a Superman story, that the audience likes, they have to make him as human as possible. They need small town Clark Kent, but then want a planet busting powerhouse of Superman. We could get into other aspects of DC mythology like the "Speed Force". DC mythology doesn't start with basic physics, like Marvel does. This makes it hard to do live action storylines.
Why is this so difficult a concept to grasp for these people? Star Trek has been doing it forever, now. You don't have to watch DS9 or the Enterprise D movies to understand what's happening in Voyager, but they take place in the same universe at the same time. It's really simple. Geez, walking is the new running for these people.
I think this is dumb Because people have no problem watching 10 sports games etc a weekend, watch commentators podcasts etc And that’s way more work than watching a film every couple months and or a 30-60 min episode where games are 3 plus hours so this whole burn out is just people not really invested in it
