  • For 2.0L MPI Nu engine with a tensioner pulley. Straightforward no bs tutorial, you don't have to remove any motor mounts nor the tensioner pulley to complete this job.
Note: if the plastic cover on your engine says "GDI" on it, this video might not work.

Watched your video and just replaced my belt in 2017 Forte. I wish you showed you actually putting the belt on. It was not easy routing the belt especially around last pulley. I needed a second person to yoke on that wrench for pulley as I used two hands to get that belt on last pulley. Belt was OEM Kia and it was tight as ever. I put on the belt around bottom pulleys (crankcase & AC) then last pulley was the one between the tensioner and alternator. Really had to push wrench as far as can with a lot of yoke to slip belt on under pulley. I did eventually get it on after several solo tries but needed my son to help. Thanks for the video. It did help to get belt off and around the tensioner without taking it off.

The tension spring in the tensioner pulley certainly made it tricky to do it one handed. It took me a good few tries as well before I was able to slip it on.

How do you keep the belt loose while you put it back on to the pulley. once I let go of the wrench, it says tensions back up

You can't let go of the wrench before you put the belt on. You can either have a second person help you keep the tension on the belt or you keep your left hand on it.

I had my son pushing as hard as he could on the tensioner with wrench as I slipped the belt onto the last pulley.
