Kind of lecture i need right now. Been switching pros lately and the latest pro that was teaching me taught me to revert to the old school swing (arm roll/ active) and drop the modern swing (passive/ body rotation dependent). And I'm now in the middle trying decide which suits me better.
Do correct me if im wrong. From what i gather, active and passive both work for full swing so we can then choose what works best for us or easier to do for full swing. However, the active/ roll way is not great for short game since we need to keep the face pointing or facing the target line longer through impact. The active release promotes the early turning of the club face. As such it is better to use the passive for short game (pitching, bunker, chipping). 🤯
One of the better videos explaining release styles and the matchups needed.
Thank you, Michael!
As usual . Great tips 👏
Glad you like them!
Interesting points-match up club position at top with amount of body rotation and I’m guessing grip would create some of top swing dynamics. Justin Thomas vs Dustin Johnson ? Don’t try to copy one part without other matchups.
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi i have a question and it has been bothering me for a long long time. During the downswing and knee level , do we really have to manipulate or force the wrist to release the club for ball impact ? Or is it really just a natural downswing for the ball impact and only follow through with club release ?
great video on the release and why people can have a different look of a release. This is why you shouldn't copy other players .
Wish I knew what they are talking about!!
What are you struggling with in particular?
I’m trying to fix my release.
Club face tends to get closed and leads to pulls.
The number One factor for the type of release is your grip. Strange they didn't cover it.. Otherwise, well done guys.
Im gonna be honest. 10 minutes of talking without showing a drill or anything relevant towards fixing it is mind blowing.
There is no need for a drill in this video. We are talking about the differences between an active and passive release not how to fix it because there is no right or wrong way.
Kerrod screwed this potentially great video up. Golfers oust want to understand the”release” in general. They don’t understand all this gibberish that Kerrod introduced into the conversation. What a waste
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll work on on being more succinct in the future
Golfers in general just want to prevent me from playing a round in
