The name Rocky Rodent is virtually unknown to the overall gaming public, but this classic Irem platformer might just be one of the best "hidden gems" on the SNES.
It's a shame that more people are playing and bothering with the Bubsy SNES games as opposed to games like Rocky Rodent. I think the animal mascot platformer trope gets a little too much flak when considering that.
+NegaLimbo Neither, I was merely playing through it at my own pace. To show everything would've been super overkill - the levels werent designed to have one linear path through, like a lot of old Sonic games' levels were like.

No wonder. Awful game. Good enough graphics (though not my preferred style) and pretty good music, but that gameplay is utterly horrible, just no fun. Been playing it on a super retrocade with save states as well. Took over three months to complete. Must have been near to impossible on an original SNES with that awful dog bone controller back in the day.

ah yes.. the good old Days I remember watching my Father when I was just 3-4 Years old and Started Playing the Game the only ones in my Family would play this game would be me 2002-2005.
The second half of this game is seriously hard. The first couple levels trick you into thinking it might be bland but it requires very serious platforming skills by the construction level. Agreed that it's a top quality platformer which still to this day doesn't get quite enough love.
I couldn't get past the apartment level as a kid. I remember it being like a maze. The stage music is seared into my mind, as I had to listen to it for tens of hours trying to beat that stupid stage.
Rocky Rodent is a game I probably would have played back in the day if I had a Super NES at the time it was released and if I heard great things about it. I think it's an interesting change that the anthropomorphic animal character you play as is actually an antihero in this game (since he's saving the damsel in distress for free food instead of out of the kindness of his heart nor out of love or revenge, although he does become thoughtful towards the damsel, Melody, in the ending). Honestly, I can picture RR being a non-Disney-animated film for kids at the time more than I can a video game, but as a video game, it looks and feels pretty good as a platforming, action/adventure game, with some elements I'm not going to get into withstanding. Great playthrough, and keep up the good work!
