  • WHY DID YOUR CAKE SINK IN THE MIDDLE?? HAVE YOU EVER BAKED A CAKE THAT SANK IN THE MIDDLE? SUNKEN CAKES CAN BE SEEN AS A CAKE FAIL OR A BAD CAKE. CAKES SINKING IN THE MIDDLE IS NOT SUCH A RARE THING, IT HAPPENS TO EVEN THE BEST OF BAKERS SOMETIMES. I HAVE A VIDEO ON HOW TO FIX A SUNKEN AND I AM GOING TO OUT THE LINK BELOW.

    I’m absolutely saving this video. I just pulled out a sunken cake from the oven and had no idea what could have happened! Your video made me pop it back into the oven and I’ve got my fingers crossed. It may not fix the sunken center but at least it won’t be raw in the middle 😅

    Thanks. I was using the double acting baking powder where before I used regular baking powder. Maybe that is why it collapsed in the middle.

    Thanks this was helpful.. I bake often and today my cake kept falling in the middle.. I have narrowed it down to two possibilities; my oven or mixing method at the end

    So u wil need to open to check sometimes cake is done but not all the time but sometimes its done so yes certain tips of yours definitely work/ helpful

    Hi yes sum tips of yours did help me an im sure for others too , on condition they have knowledge , if not then not , obviously for those that know they wil foresee beforehand an then they wil correct beforehand as needed before placing in oven but for others like me that dont have knowledge they wont know beforehand an they wont correct beforehand an they wil just put in oven like i do , like the method tip u mentioned an truth is i never knew that wen recipe calls for creaming u cannot use all in 1 method so therefore i use same ingredients but different method because i never knew if u change methods u wil get sunken cake an im sure others dont know method is important too , other than that wen u say u need fresh ingredient that i know an im sure others know so they wil know if using old u wil get sunken cake an then your other tip wen u say underbaked but the thing is my cake sank but its fully baked so im not sure if all your tips is useful/ helpful

    Hello, thanks so much for sharing your expertise. Hope you can help, I found a recipe calls for 15 dates, cup orange juice, no sugar, 1/3 cup oil, 160g spelt flour and
    1 tablespoon baking powder. All ingredients are fresh and measured accurately. Tried it twice abd each time it flattens after taking from oven, once ensured it rises and tooth pick is clean. Baking temp is 180c (355f) for 30-35min.
    What do you think the cause of failures?
    Do you think
    1 TBSP baking powder is too much?
    Should baking soda be used instead?
    Any other advices, greatly appreciate it.

    So certain tips people give im unable to understand like even wen they say dont remove cake but thing is a person can get hurt that way, oven is not just warm its soooooooo warm to check an as u mentioned to only check in centre but u need to remove an then check as it dangerous to check inside oven itself

    An also everybody dont know wen cake is done, from outside door it looks done irrespective wether time passed or not the cake look done
