@@AsiaCoffee 😃 I love your recipes so much......can u pls tell me the amount of buttercream needed to fill, crumb coat, cover and decorate a cake ( approximate amount.......) around 3 cups or more ?
I agree with all but one..the first one..if you properly flour your cake pans or spray them with baking spray you won't have an issue removing your cakes, you can also use parchment to line your baking pan for easy removal. Letting your cakes cool in the pans allows for less moisture to escape and your cake to dry out. Your other suggestions are very helpful....
ik this was a year ago and u probably won’t respond but when u said leaving it on the pan, does that mean like leaving it on top of the oven after u take the cake out??
Yes, it does. Ideally, you want to allow the cake to cool on a rack like the one shown on the video. This helps air circulate around the pan. Thanks for watching!
I always leave my cake in the pan and never had a problem removing them from the pan... I've been selling cakes for 3 years now. But I have good quality pans.
Yes, the quality of pan does make a difference! Prepping pans with parchment paper vs. spray also affects the likelihood of sticking. Tip #1 is more so for the occasional baker who would typically opt to prep pans with baking spray. I’m curious: How do you prep your pans? Thanks for watching and sharing! 👌🏽
I've been caking for quite a few years. I forgot my cakes cooling in the pan on a few occasions. The result wasn't that they were hard to remove but it sweat in the pan, leaving me with a gooey outer layer in which I had to shave off more than planned.

I must admit, I didn't level my cake layers before frosting them and also the icing, though delicious, became too runny because of too much lemon juice. I didn't know there was something called a leveler. I must get one before my next attempt at frosting! Thanks for the useful tips!!!
I skipped leveling some of the layers. Used the cake that was taken off to fill in the sides making a different dimension to the finished cake. Making a unique design once cut. Worked out. I like your leveling tip. thanks. Putting your fresh out of the oven cake into the freezer ( wrap with Seran wrap) keeps the moisture of the cake in the cake . I encourage leveling first. Hey! Seeing that ur comment was a year ago about being a newbie, what would u say have been the most helpful tips and tools that you've learned fairly new in the game (if ur still baking of course) TIA ❤
Thanks for sharing, now I know what not to do.the mistake Ive been making repeatedly is not removing the dome of the cake to make it even..I tried to fill the gap in between with frosting.thanms again
I have a few questions: 1) How long should the cake be in the pan after its done baking?, 2) will having a crumb coat, then cooling the cake, and adding the second layer of frosting make the cake dry or will it still be moist?, and 3) how long after baking should you start to frost the cake? Great video by the way! Very helpful!
Hello ! I’m not the creator but I can answer two of your questions. 1) I would say about 10 minutes and for 3) you should let the cake cook completely before frosting :) Hope I could help
I will admit I don’t level my cakes , although I just ordered a cuter thing, I’m 11 years old but I love baking and I do get some orders ,my most recent order i got was a total failure I ran out of skewers and the cake fell in the fridge and made a huge mess😅, this video was so helpful 💖
Oh my gosh!! You’re 11 years old?!? You sound like a professional baker! I bet your cakes are amazing. Don’t be too hard on yourself for the “total failures,” there’s just as much value in getting things wrong, as there is in getting them right…as long as you learn from both experiences, and it seems like you do. I love that you watch TH-cam videos to learn new things. You’re very impressive!! Good luck, kiddo!!

Thanks for sharing! This is referred to as having the proper “ratio”. While it’s something to be mindful of, I wouldn’t call it a mistake per se. Using a leveler on your layers and a turntable while applying your filling will help tremendously. There’s nothing wrong with using a ruler as well… 😉 Best of luck on your next cake!
I ice the sides the wrong way sometimes, and also have skipped crumb coat due to poor planning of how long I needed to finish the cake the right way. I've torn cakes up with too-thick frosting, too.

@@AsiaCoffee I don’t have the leveling tool you do I have to cut it with a knife so yeah and also another question is I always have at the bottom layer because when I make cakes they are topically two tier and the bottom oddly goes inward so there’s always a lot of icing on the bottom and thanks so much with the help I love your videos
So, I likely didn't thin out my icing enough, BUT I pulled my crumb coated cake from the freezer.. proceeding to put a layer of icing on the cake, well, IT FROZE to my cake! I agree woth all of them except for the 1st one. Could you please explain more about it? Just wait till it cools & hardens then use a knife to get it off the sides & viòla! Thats why when you make cookies you let them cool before geting them out.
No…. Not a knife to take your cake out of the pan! 😱 (joking) But seriously: If the cake is baked completely, it’s not going to break when you remove it from the pan 15 minutes after taking it out of the oven. You shouldn’t remove the cake right after taking it from the oven; wait 15-20 minutes then remove it. If it cools in the pan and you DID NOT use parchment paper, the cake will stick and you will need a knife to remove the cake from the pan. You can then tear up your cake with the knife if you’re not careful. Not allowing the cake to cool in the pan avoids this entire scenario. Thanks for watching! 💕
hi im in 4-H and this helped me alot because im about to go to state for cake decorating and i needed some tip for my cakes os thanks so much for psting this video
I've used icing that came right out of the store bough container. It was so "silky" that it started slipping down the sides of the cake. My cake was room temperature. I'm open for suggestions.
Thanks for commenting! It sounds like the icing was too thin because it ended up sliding down the sides of your cake. Depending on the brand, you could thicken it by adding a tablespoon or two if powdered sugar to the icing. Curious: What brand were you using? 🤔
@@bonitamig Duncan Hines can be quite soft from time to time. My experience is that no matter how much powdered sugar you add and stir in, this type of icing/frosting may not thicken up. I would encourage you to try adding one tablespoon of powdered sugar as insurance next time you cover your cake. Please return and let us know if that helped! Curious: Have you tried making your own icing? What’s your experience been with that?
@@AsiaCoffee I've never made my own icing because buying it was just easier. I generally buy Betty Crocker and Pillsbury and haven't had this problem. I won't buy Duncan Hines again.
If our cake cools in the pans, there's a higher likelihood that a portion of it will get stuck, making it difficult to remove from the pan. Removing the dome is to ensure that your cake is nice and level when layering it. This is more important when you're stacking tiers, considering the weight. Thanks for watching!

You can then tear up your cake with the knife if you’re not careful. Not allowing the cake to cool in the pan avoids this entire scenario. Thanks for watching! 💕
Thank you so much,l made all these mistakes before,l now know what to do

Never skipped crumb coat, but guilty of no barrier between layers and sometimes icing,
I've used icing that came right out of the store bough container.
@@AsiaCoffee Duncan Hines. I make a lot of cakes and this was the first time this happened.
@@bonitamig That’s fair. Thanks for taking the time to comment and share your experiences. I’m sure others may find it helpful! 💕

What is the recipe for the cake you used? Looks delicious
Thanks! For video purposes, it’s a good chance that these cakes were made from a box mix. 😉
Could you please provide your cake recipe it looks delicious 🤤
Thank you ma'am for the tips.
Why shouldn't we leave the cake ro cool in the pan and why is it necessary to remove the dome before covering?
If our cake cools in the pans, there's a higher likelihood that a portion of it will get stuck, making it difficult to remove from the pan. Removing the dome is to ensure that your cake is nice and level when layering it. This is more important when you're stacking tiers, considering the weight. Thanks for watching!
@@AsiaCoffee Alright. Thank you ma'am.
Thank you so much . I will try icing my cakes this way .
Best of luck and thanks for watching! 💕
I definitely didn’t take the dome off, I never even thought of taking cake off that I want to eat for the sake of presentation, but it’s worth it
Ha, no one says you can’t eat it! 🤣 I call them cake scraps. You can eat them or make cake pops/cake truffles out of them. Thanks for watching!
@@AsiaCoffee thanks for the response
I always eat the dome when I cut it off. Lol.
Me too! 😂
