Interesting fact here, Stan was married to a few hours to a woman named Marilyn, until she robbed him and stole his things. And now it is highly likely that Stan's ex was Eda, considering she uses the name Marilyn when in the human realm
I imagine the real appeal of those restaurants is the arcade. The robots are more a fun detail the the main draw. Also pizza. Heck nowadays there a Dave and Busters which is a pretty big arcade restaurant that became big recently.
Gravity Falls is in the middle of Oregon, and Portland is on the coast. It's about as far as driving from Edinburgh to Birmingham in the UK. I like how they handle Soos' dating difficulties; I feel like part of it was aiming within his league, but mostly it was not trying so hard, but still being out there to meet someone. It's a bit too easy to live online now, and avoid going to places where you can just meet people.
Gravity Falls appears to be in Central Oregon. Portland Oregon is probably about 190 Kilometers away. It would not be difficult for Soos or Melody to visit each other. Depending on traffic it is a 2.5 - 3 hour car drive.
Chucky Cheese is basically a casino for children. You get to win tickets and ignore lousy lounge singers. There's crappy food that meets the standard for junk food. All you have to do as an adult is make sure the kids aren't mugging each other, and you're good. You barely have to babysit, and still get credit for being the cool parental figure.
An enormous million dollar smile spread across my face when you said “If you understood that reference you’re a legend.” I became a huge bleach fan when I was a teenager back when it first aired. You so rock! ✌️😁👍
Melody is actually the main villain from the second dimension. She has been giving Bill Cipher orders to destroy the third dimension for reasons still unknown to people who have seen the whole show.
Flying probably isn't how they'd go see each other Gravity Falls is in Oregon and almost everyone in Oregon uses the Portland airport where Melody lives.
I might age myself with this comment, but I had a couple of birthday parties at Showbiz pizza back in the day and loved those animatronics! Looking back as an adult, they are creepy af. But if you look at pictures from very early Disney Land, those costumes were way creepier and children loved them as well. In fact, a lot of those older costumes were very creepy looking...
8:31 Nah, hitting on service employees sucks. You're the customer, they've got to be nice to you as part of their job, etc. Whole power imbalance there makes it a bad call.
1. Technically FNAF came about because of a critic comparing the designs of Scott Cawthon's game Chipper and Son's to that of animatronics. 2. I was actually more fascinated by the Chuck E. Cheese animatronics when I was little. 3. Take it from a girl who's seen food theory and whose dad actually worked for the franchise, the recycled slices theory is just a myth.
I love the pun that, when they met, Melody was working at a place called "Meat Cute". How far is Gravity Falls from Portland? Gravity Falls is a fictional town (like "The Simpsons"s Springfield, and "Family Guy"s Quahog) with no specific location beyond "a quiet logging town in eastern Oregon", but we can make a few guesses: - According to Alex Hirsch, Gravity Falls was inspired by the town of Boring, Oregon, which he remembered from family road trips as a child (specifically, Boring's roadsign that said "The most exciting place to live!"). Boring is only a little more than 20 miles (32 km) from Portland. However, they're both in _northwest_ Oregon. - The Bill Cipher statue (don't look it up yet, show finale spoilers) is in Reedsport, 195 miles (314 km) from Portland, but it's in _southwest_ Oregon. - Alex has also said that they liked sneaking in references to the show "Twin Peaks"; Twin Peaks is in the northeast corner of the state, 328 miles (528 km) from Portland. This one is the most likely, since it's actually in eastern Oregon. - Now, if Melody meant Portland, _Maine_ (she doesn't), that would be much farther away on the other coast of the US, about 2813 miles (4527 km) from Oregon's east border.
Soos’ grandma is a trip, she might be my favorite side character. Side note I consider anyone who is part of the ritual is a main character, no spoilers, Mosco won’t be able to figure what I mean phrased like that but most people who’ve seen it to the end already know what I mean.
The first time I heard "No, he's not there" I almost choked on my drink. I was not prepared for that kind of dark humour. I was amazed that Alex Hirsch got away with that joke. Also, really loving that fact that Soos was having a meet cute at the meat cute. Nice touch there, very dad joke!
When I was a kid, I love going to Chuck E. Cheese during my b-day. For your question maybe is the mascot, the pizza, lots of lots of arcade games. I don’t why but I hope my answer might help.
I feel like "standards" might not really be a thing. Remember, in the body-swapping episode, Soos also managed to get a date with someone by behaving like a pig (and I mean like a literal pig! He body-swapped with one!). And yeah, it's a cartoon, but even in real life: Two people that get along is really all that's required, so there's really no such thing as "standards". If two people like each other, get together, that's it! I dunno, maybe that's just me trying to be more positive about it. Doesn't matter really: There's 8 billions people in this world, with 8 billions different point of views!
Perhaps it's because I'm completely aroace, but yea, I've never really gotten the idea of "leagues" when people are dating. If two people like eachother romantically, then a romantic relationship can form if they both want it. The whole placing of people into different leagues feels so arbitrary. It invokes a sense of "dating value" which I've most commonly seen used by pickup artists. It feels distasteful that to categorise people into objective leagues based on how much they conform to arbitrary norms and standards.
Yes, the restaurant is a Chucky Cheese parody, but not as much of a parody as Chucky Cheese is of itself. John Oliver (Last Week Tonight) did a great segment on Chucky Cheese over the years on his show just this past week and it can be found here on TH-cam. Definitely worth a watch.
As someone whos been to Chuck E. Cheeses many times the main draw (at least for me) wasn't the animatronics or the food (which wasn't that good to me) but the games. It was one of the few arcade places close to home that had a wide variety of games (such as Arctic Thunder) that you could spend hours playing for a relatively cheap cost. Me and my brother'd also sometimes go and play around in the jungle gym area when we were little. As a bonus, the one I went to had a Checkers nearby, so a family tradition would be to go grab some fries & shakes from there after playing at Chuck E. Cheeses. We haven't been there in years for a couple reasons. 1) We have many more games at home to play, so there's rarely a need to go there anymore. 2) The last time we went there it had been changed from a family fun place to a toddler fun place, with many of its games, jungle gym and animatronic show place being removed to make room for more little kid games and rides. 3) Dave & Busters has taken over the role of our preferred arcade despite it being farther away than CeC.
Flights within the US are still expensive, but Melody said she was from Portland, so she's still in the same state as Soos. She'll only be a few hours away by bus.
She's definitely one of those villains that I am conflicted about whether I was fully against. On the one hand, she was undoubtedly overly possessive and dangerous. On the other hand, it seems like she was brought to life on accident, killed her creator trying to defend herself from deletion, and spent the rest of her life trying to fulfill the purpose she was made for, to find love. She probably fell in love with the many people who played her game, but was abandoned when they found out she was alive. Having that happen to her over and over again clearly left an impression on her, because she's crazy from rejection at worst, and desperate at best
@Guardian 6 Yeah. Her backstory is probably the saddest in the series. I wound up just plain feeling bad for her because of how much she’s been abused.
19:41 Yeeaaaaaahhhh, you may be underestimating the amount of - well - *geography* over here. That said, it sounds like she isn't moving out of the same state he's in. That's more promising.
I must say, i personally found this episode most relatable. Back when this episode first aired, i too was awkward around the ladies and didn't know where to begin about learning the ropes. Needless to say, Soos became my favorite character after this episode.
Yep you are correct, a lot of this does stem from Chuck-E-Cheese that spawned five nights at Freddy's, and I feel like the world has gotten worse for it lol Also know they don't put together pieces of old pieces to make a new pizzas to serve, they just have a really shity pizza cutter.
Also: Soos could visit Portland without flying--it's probably a couple of hours by car (Gravity Falls is a fictitious town, but the maps in the show place it somewhere just southeast of Mt. Hood, which would be just a few hours from Portland).
Just to say, most everyone I know who went to Chuck E Cheese as a kid didn't go for the animatronics. They were just there to give the kids something to look at as we shoved pizza in our faces. The real draw was the arcade games and the prizes you won for playing and getting tickets.
The fingers thing: back when this show first aired that was noticed and became the focus of some odd fan theories. One being it was an age thing, like characters born before a certain date had five fingers and those born after only had three.
I can’t wait until you find out that Soos’s grandma is actually a spider person that was released from a knock off version of dungeons and dragons. The strangest part is that she’s voiced by Weird Al in that episode.
Honestly it's as much of a mystery to us, why our children enjoy these mechanical nightmares so much, as it is to everyone else in the world. I personally dread seeing these things both on the stage and when the floor show starts and people in costumes of the animatronics start dancing around the room. Creeps the ever loving heck out of me.
Yeah echoing what other people said. The places like chuckie cheese were fun. Pizza, arcade games, indoor playgrounds. the place near me growing up had miniature golf and bumper boats too. The animatronics were ignored to the best of my ability.

"Why do kids find this fun?" Even as a child, I hated the animitronics. I did like Chuck E. Cheese, but only because it was basically an arcade with a restaurant that serves pizza. As an adult, still not a fan, even if it is more psychological horror than actual fear.
Coming back to this, I also feel compelled to point out for fairness' sake that the problem of this episode isn't that _women_ are crazy, it's that cursed, homicidal artificial intelligences programmed to seek love at all costs are. Melody, Wendy, and the other human ladies come across as significantly more reasonable by comparison. ... well, all except for "Can't Undo Who You Are" Lady. That level of absolute savagery was uncalled for. Hilarious, yes, but still uncalled for.
Travel is SOOOOO expensive here in the States. Like, it can cost hundreds of dollars just to fly within the country, and thousands to fly out of the country.
Gravity Falls and Portland are both in Oregon, so Soos and Melody aren't more than like a four hour drive away from each other (based on where we see GF on maps).
Amazing reaction! I've only just recently started to watch your vids but you seem to have a really likeable and funny personality! Keep up the reactions 🎉
7:10 generally not, for obvious reasons. But it various between games how self aware if this the games are. some are closer to interactive romance stories, others are borderline offensively. Some are integrated into plots, as almost a core game mechanic. I played this one that involved some twin shenanigans and a kidnapping/extortion plan, while also requiring getting close to the various characters for plot reasons. some character progressions decided the ultimate fate of the characters lives. the sfw setting uses a lot of sweaters, while the nsfw was more about sexual atmosphere with some nudity then actual intercourse. Mind my experience is almost exclusively sapphic games or at least having sapphic options, so the purely het games might be different.
15:20 I don't think it is anymore. Pretty sure Chuck E. Cheese went out of business years ago. All that's left is FNAF, faded memories, a few rusty sideshow attractions here and there, and 90's nostalgia.
Much like a romance movie or a romance novel, dating Sims are usually unrealistic but not necessarily wrong either. Like it's dramatic, exaggerated, and often highly specific. But also not the worst if you're looking for a place to start. I mean, you're awkward anyway right
2:26 ...Probably not? ...I'm not sure. There is a London branch of the Soul Society and its waaaaay different from the Seireitei. Like...I'm not sure if everyone from around the world can wind up in the Seireitei, or you have to have died in Japan to be konsoed by a Shinigami.

The animatronic pizza-and-arcade jamboree sort of thing was admittedly more fun for kids back in the '80s and '90s...
That's what Hooty Ha Owl's Jamboree was based on.
For the record Moscow, Portland and Gravity Falls are both in the state of Oregon
So it’s more like a drive than a flight
An enormous million dollar smile spread across my face when you said “If you understood that reference you’re a legend.” I became a huge bleach fan when I was a teenager back when it first aired. You so rock! ✌️😁👍
4:30 legit one of my favorite jokes in the show, "your face looks good, I'm a Soos" (i masseuse), it's so simple but i love it
Melody is actually the main villain from the second dimension.
Imagine the fandom's shock when we found out Hoo Ha the Owl is the Author!
soos is actually not that old !! hes only 20
i thought he was 18
Yeah apparently he’s 22 to be specific
WHAT!!?!??!?!! His character design made me think he was in his late 30's / early 40'swhooops
@@WeeLassReacts I think there joking I could be Wong though lol
Gravity Falls is a fictional town (like "The Simpsons"s Springfield, and "Family Guy"s Quahog) with no specific location beyond "a quiet logging town in eastern Oregon", but we can make a few guesses:
- According to Alex Hirsch, Gravity Falls was inspired by the town of Boring, Oregon, which he remembered from family road trips as a child (specifically, Boring's roadsign that said "The most exciting place to live!").
I don't know if Chuck-e-Cheese was popular with kids, but I think I can explain it's popularity with parents in 3 words: "They serve beer."
Did they? I never went there as an adult. Never knew that...
Can you imagine the animatronics that they would have if Chucky Cheese had started in Scotland?
I feel like putting animatronics in Glasgow would be the easiest way to teach robots violence. If only by osmosis.
Also robots are rad as hell 😎
@@A.MNeverP.M that’s true. Big robot nerd right here, high five 🖐️
I thinks it’s a combination of all three
@@tahraethestoryteller6079 ok, that might be right.
Would you believe that this isn't Stan's first Vegas wedding? Who was the first, the one who got away? Why, it was only EDA THE OWL LADY
Of course, Eda only went along with it so she could steal his car and winnings.
And by "got away" I of course mean in a full on police chase that ended when she dove into a canion and "disappeared"
Not gonna lie, saying Soos is "Out of his league," seems kinda mean, considering he does almost nothing except help other people all day, every day.
Paul Robertson--who pixel-animated Rumble McSkirmish--also pixel-animated Giffany for this episode.
15:48 the arcade is the main appeal and the animatronics are just there for merchandising
Gravity Falls predicted FNAF and Doki Doki Literature Club! 😱
Over the years, I think Soos became my favorite character in this show
Same.
All hail the Handyman of the Apocalypse.
2:35 that's a cleaning product reference right?
9:46 I think someone probably already mention it but that's a reference to a very good game called Octodad
Flights within the US are still expensive, but Melody said she was from Portland, so she's still in the same state as Soos. She'll only be a few hours away by bus.
Call me crazy but i LOVE Giffany and was sad to see her go
She's definitely one of those villains that I am conflicted about whether I was fully against.
I am a sucker for evil ai, so yeah I agree. She's canonically still alive though which is revealed in the Journal 3 book
19:41 Yeeaaaaaahhhh, you may be underestimating the amount of - well - *geography* over here. That said, it sounds like she isn't moving out of the same state he's in. That's more promising.
The four fingers thing is just an animation style for certain characters. Makes it easier to draw their hands.
I must say, i personally found this episode most relatable. Back when this episode first aired, i too was awkward around the ladies and didn't know where to begin about learning the ropes. Needless to say, Soos became my favorite character after this episode.
Yep you are correct, a lot of this does stem from Chuck-E-Cheese that spawned five nights at Freddy's, and I feel like the world has gotten worse for it lol
Also know they don't put together pieces of old pieces to make a new pizzas to serve, they just have a really shity pizza cutter.
Also: Soos could visit Portland without flying--it's probably a couple of hours by car (Gravity Falls is a fictitious town, but the maps in the show place it somewhere just southeast of Mt. Hood, which would be just a few hours from Portland).
This isn't a spoiler, we never actually find this out in the show, but fun fact, Dipper's real name is canonically Mason
It's weird how a psychic told me I was going to die in the dark cold and alone... probably the only time she got a prediction right lol
How do you know? Did you already die.
@@Brasswatchman not yet
Just to say, most everyone I know who went to Chuck E Cheese as a kid didn't go for the animatronics. They were just there to give the kids something to look at as we shoved pizza in our faces. The real draw was the arcade games and the prizes you won for playing and getting tickets.
SOOS IS 22 DONT DO MY BOY DIRTY LIKE THAT
The fingers thing: back when this show first aired that was noticed and became the focus of some odd fan theories. One being it was an age thing, like characters born before a certain date had five fingers and those born after only had three.
Such a great episode. I’m so glad Soos met somebody.
7:15 I’ve played one dating game, and I think you can probably guess which one.

SO happy my mother never caved to my demands to take me to Chuck E Cheese as a kid...
I'M HERE, I'M HERE, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
this is definitely giving me Five Nights at Freddy's vibes especially when the robots at a kids arcade go psycho killer on the characters.
Chuck-E-Cheese: the animatronic floor show is creepy and weird, but the gigantic arcade is amazing. That's it in a nutshell.
Love this episode, I love SOOOS!! This is so relateable and so much fun and cracy.
such a fun episode, and yay for soos finding a nice girl who likes him for who he is :]
Those have got to be the third most horrifying animatronics I've ever seen in a cartoon.
"Why do kids find this fun?"
Even as a child, I hated the animitronics. I did like Chuck E. Cheese, but only because it was basically an arcade with a restaurant that serves pizza.
As an adult, still not a fan, even if it is more psychological horror than actual fear.
If you look closely, you can see the government agents from the Zombie episode hanging out in the mall.
Animatronics aren’t popular anymore, but they absolutely were in the 80s-90s
Travel is SOOOOO expensive here in the States. Like, it can cost hundreds of dollars just to fly within the country, and thousands to fly out of the country.
She wouldn’t need to fly she’s from Portland. That’s also in Oregon and she’s likely just a couple hours away.
A shinigami in seireitei, huh, what would your Zanpakuto be like?
Gravity Falls comes first, then Amphibia, then The Owl House but they all take place on the same Earth and same multiverse
Stan does crazy things in Vegas, like getting married to Eda.
I think Chuck'e'Cheese is so popular more for the arcade and prizes than for the mouse.
And Billy Bob's Wonderland. XD
One of my favorite episodes!
Much like a romance movie or a romance novel, dating Sims are usually unrealistic but not necessarily wrong either.
Like it's dramatic, exaggerated, and often highly specific. But also not the worst if you're looking for a place to start. I mean, you're awkward anyway right
5:38 You dug your own self into this hole, nobody's gonna dig you out of it... :D
They will meet again. We don’t know where. We don’t know when . But we know they’ll meet again some sunny day.
Soos's grandpa was Isekai'd, that's why he isn't in heaven. In fact, he' a character in another Disney show.
You’re talking about Dr. Heinz Doofenschmirtz, right? Abuelita had a falling out with him because of his obsession with building Inators…
