    That "A diminished that nobody gets right" is Eb dominant(13no11). (voiced as Eb2 - Eb3 - Db4 - F4 - G4 - C5)

Also, when it resolves to that next cadence, it's not Dm - C - D. The first arpeggio is actually Bbmaj7, so it's a Dm with a Bb in the bass, not Dm with D in the bass.

Great video. The Japanese city pop is actually kind of Steely Dan sang in Japanese imho. Cheers from Japan. P.S. I recommend the band called Kirinji. Their latest album sounds like modern city pop for 2020s.

I'm feeling it! Just change the brazzer to a straight just saxophone or trumpet. Then the singing is near perfect, you do have a singing voice, especially for this genre, along jazz. Just a little bit more pushing and you got a BANGER.

May I ask for the plugins you used or synth specials like for the wind & brass in the video tutorial? and also I loved how the way you explain it so well, the thing is I've been looking for tutorials on how to make the original city pop but clearly, you are the first.. keep up my guy love and support from the Philippines.

We need to address the elephant in the room. The key ingredient in city pop you don't mention is extremely sharp musicianship, something you don't get with straight tempo locked midi drums and a all over the place "slap bass"
Go check RIck Beato's recent tips to being a better bassplayer, where his main advice is you gotta have that pocket. Go listen to Plastic love right now and listen to the bass part, so simple, but always totally locked in with the groove

You should check out Yukika if you haven't heard of her yet. She's a Japanese artist who is in Korea, releasing citypop in Korean. She's just come out with her debut album (entirely citypop) recently. I recommend Neon, Soul Lady and pit-a-pat.

If you ask me, the Germans are the last ones to create music as beautiful and advanced as City Pop. If you wanna hear some typical German music, just look up "Schlager", and you'll know what I'm talking about. The German rap scene has evolved lately, though, and it's a bit more unique compared to American rap.
