I’ve gotta say, as someone who has never been into modeling and has absolutely 0 intention on getting into the hobby (don’t have the budget, time, or patience for it), I am absolutely in love with your videos. While this hobby isn’t for me, I get a ton of satisfaction watching you put a ton of care and attention into every model/diorama, down to the last detail. It speaks volumes to your talent, video quality, and ability to eloquently describe your artistic process that you’re able to captivate an audience that has 0 knowledge about the hobby

Nice to have such longer and more in-depth videos! I personallly believe them to be incredibly "valuable" to watch, as many techniques and ideas are coherently tied together and make a really nice reference point when thinking about one´s own projects and how to tackle them. Most definetly worth waiting a couple of weeks even!

  • @chev2500hd1
    @chev2500hd1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

kinda a bummer you gotta give a disclaimer about when your next video will be as to not upset people. I watched your last video about you experimenting with upload scheduling and I for one get it man. in my opinion your a damn artist that's very articulate in your techniques take however much time is needed. I don't feel we need an explanation cause I know when I see an upload I'm in for a treat regardless of duration or how long since the last upload.
I'm not even a modeler, but I get some serious entertainment out of your videos. I mean it's impressive what you do, so thank you for sharing your passion with all of us. take it easy brother and take care of yourself, health is more important than an upload schedule.
    much love from Cali 🤙

This model was definitely an Uncle Night Shift level event! Whenever I have a problem with a model I think to myself "What would Uncle Night Shift do?" and all I have to do is go through your videos. I bought an Australian version of the Abrams tank but the only thing that made it Aussie was the kangaroo and Australian armour decals. Your videos helped so much in fabrication and becoming friends with Tamiya paste and putty that my cousin who was in Amoured Corps gave me the thumbs up 🙂 Stay Happy and thanks🙂

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this video my friend. I set it up and then pressed play as I started chipping a 1:72 T35. I confess, I struggle with oil pin washes, all I seem to do is move the dark stain around rather than clean it from areas I don't want it. But, I have not done the technique much and it can be so many reasons why it isn't working for me, for instance that I am not applying it to the right surface (I did it over a dot filter but didn't put a varnish between the two!!). So, keeping it short. Thanks for this and once I get to teh end, I am going to replay it, just so I am modelling with a buddy!!!😂😂👍👍😉

Legendary work. I've had fun adding metal edges early on with metal enamel paints. The side of the brush hazing the edges till they pop, almost like dry brush. When painting over with acrylics, I just rub the edges with whatever to bring them back. The enamel won't rub off..
By the way, your filming is also fabulous. I'll rewatch on a big screen just to get screen grabs!

Your weathering, and your exhaustive (and time consuming) approach to layering, is amazing and creates some stunning effects! Not a big fan of hi-lighting individual rivets but you do tone them down in subsequent steps. The final effect though, is a vehicle covered in different shades and tones that truly is a piece of art! Superb work, as always! 👍

    Welcome back : )
With another awesome project : O
Just fantastick all round - and very inspiring. You are helping me back into modelling shape with new and great techniques.
One thing: You need to apply a small amount of fat black/brown greas to the gears elevating and lowering the barrel.
    Just a kind hint : )
    Thanks again, Martin :)

The most important thing to remember about rust on German vehicles, the soldiers had hobnails on the bottom of their boots. Hobnails are nails. Nails are metal, thus they scrape the paint which leads to rust. I was told years ago that tank crews removed the hobnails because they made walking on the armor very difficult. Add frost to the equation and someone is going to fall off the tank.

Hi, have you considered using a vacuum chamber to remove air bubbles when blackening the tracks. I've seen people using some small ones for various epoxy resin projects. I'm not sure how it will affect the overall process, I suspect temperature will increase so it might affect the look or the time it takes to fully treat the material. Anyway great video as always, cheers.

The hydraulic pistons could use a slight dulling down I think. Real hydraulic pistons on large machines rarely look super shiny and they get a very slightly aluminum-ish satin finish from the grease and hydraulic fluid inside. Happens more on large machines where slightly larger tolerances on the oil seals let the oils out onto the silver surface.
Also maybe making some straight oily coloured streaks lengthwise along the piston could break up the look.

One thing I would dig is a list of paints and things you used for each video, in case people want to follow along! It would beat going through 30 mins of footage for the combined 1 minute's worth of frames that show what you use!
Also I know it is less of a tutorial, but I like to follow you sometimes to get a feel for it

In watercolor the "best" painters tend to use multiple tones to paint one area by adding colors together as they go. This model really seemed like one begging for more than one color for the pinwash - you mentioned that the first bottle was too blue, which might have been amazing to use for "shaded" areas, allowing it to mix on the model (or dipping into the cooler toned wash with a semi loaded main color if full cool was not required). This could give even futher variation on the model, limited to the pinwashed sections.

Not going to lie for warm fuzziness. I liked it when my weekend started with Nightshift and ended with Corporal's Corner. THAT said. As I said on you disclosure video, you only get one ass.
I TRULY understand how hard it is to stay inspired to build/paint. I have painted just shy of 100 complete table top armies from pretty much EVERY time period/genre. There's only so much you can do to individualize one or another model after that as I also do dioramas though that has slowed down due a lot in part to over all lack of patriotism in my country's latest generation. I balance out my work weeks between WORK, and my various model projects with at least a day in the woods sometimes using the quiet to sketch out and idea for a colorscheme.
I don't film my builds. The only records I keep are purely account related i.e. paints and materials used for this or that project. If I take a picture, it is for the customer.
Anyhoooo "Thor" is looking pretty damn good. Catch ya next time.
