    Eric, you are a lifesaver! The last few months I have spent many nights awake all night trying to learn how to do this and researching and crying! FINALLY I have found your video here! I'm trying this out tonight! Thank you so much! I just hope I have free access to google meet and not just hangouts or that this will also work in hangouts. My school is paying for nothing and is providing nothing!

    I want to watch more of your videos, just because you explain things slowly (but not too slowly) and thoroughly. Lately, I've been watching videos where people just zip through the steps and you can't even see what icon they clicked! I tutor kids 5 to 8 years old and for part of the lesson, they need to be able to control the screen. So this is very helpful!

    • @TonyBevers-SOCSDIT
      @TonyBevers-SOCSDIT 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they need to have the extension installed. In our school district, we've deployed the extension to all student machines so staff are able to remotely connect to student machines, or vice versa. If students don't have it installed, they'll be prompted to install it upon the first attempt to use it. Many school districts block the ability for students to install their own chrome extensions. If your district does not block students from installing their own extensions, they'll be able to install it. If your district does block students from installing their own Chrome extensions, your district's IT dept will need to deploy it to student Chromebooks before it can be used.

      I have the same question.

    • @TonyBevers-SOCSDIT
      @TonyBevers-SOCSDIT 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The students would have remote control of other computers or Chromebooks only if someone had given them the one-time access code. Even with the access code, a user on the computer being controlled will still need to grant them access when they attempt to connect. The downside to this is that students will be able to control another student's Chromebook if given both the access code and granted permission. The upside is that student's won't be able to, as an example, remote into a home computer to bypass a school's webfilter because someone will still need to be at the computer at home (that will be controlled) to grant access when the control request comes in.

    Great video but what’s with google not providing this feature without adding an extension? I don’t trust these extensions; neither does my employer. Google sells these products to enterprises and yet features are not designed for enterprise use. It’s like they took free stuff and shoved it down company’s’ throat. This is one among many issues with google chat, google hangout and other products.

      When you are in a Google Meet session that is using both audio and video, then add a Chrome Remote Desktop session to the mix, it will consume a large amount of bandwidth (will use a lot of your Internet connection). This is likely why you are seeing the issues you're seeing. The two work extremely well together if both sides have a solid, fast Internet connection. In rural areas where the wired Internet connections may not be that fast, or where one or more of the participants may be using a satellite Internet connection, you will definitely experience latency (delay) issues.
