Kevin, You are a totally natural teacher and one of the greatest teachers that I have ever seen. I know that, not only because I am a retired teacher who for forty years observed hundreds of others in the teaching profession, but also because of the specific opportunity of being able to compare your online explanations to other people's online explanations of exactly same things. They are working hard and are certainly doing their best, but few of them seem to have the level of skill that you have--that precious skill that a great teacher must have--seeing the subject that they are teaching from the position of the students to whom they are teaching it. You are obviously an expert in the hundreds of subjects that you explain, but some of the worst explanations I have seen come from experts, even the experts who created what they are explaining, because they just cannot manage to view it like the neophyte who lacks their knowledge. Teaching is certainly a skill that can be taught to some extent, but my experience suggests to me that it is primarily an inborn skill. I can tell that you have done a tremendous amount of work to perfect your videos, and they are a close to perfect as you could get them. But, sadly, even hard work isn't enough for those who lack your natural teaching ability to match your natural results. Thanks for doing what you are doing.
Ok, Now i get it. You forgot to mention that these computers are logged into the same account. You might have added to this, that you can access a 2nd computer with a different account, but you must use the Remote Support Share Screen to control of someone else's pc. BTW, its not just a share screen, you have total control of that 2nd pc via that control method.
Brother, do you if this works even when the computer you want to remote in is on the lock screen? I’m going to MX and I need to access 2 computer that I’m not taking with me.
Was just about to go the long route setting up RDP through my carrier then this gold nugget of a video came to my feed. Implemented it and tested it and glad to report it works awesome. Kevin you are becoming my favorite ❤ TH-camr.
Brother, do you if this works even when the computer you want to remote in is on the lock screen? I’m going to MX and I need to access 2 computer that I’m not taking with me.
Unfortunately all computers have to be online for you to remote in. You can't wake it up remotely if it is shutdown or even in sleep mode. Goodluck friend !
DUDE! Seriously, I'm a Technical Writer and IT Trainer with 20+ years' experience, and every single thing of yours that I've seen here and on TikTok is absolutely TOP DRAWER stuff. There isn't another IT content creator that I've ever had more confidence in, or respect for. About Chrome Remote Desktop -- it seems too good to be true. How does it compare with Windows RDP for features, stability, and security? Thanks, Tony,
Thanks for this video. Please take note - the PC should be signed in with admin privileges - Remote Desktop cannot remote into the Windows Sign-In - you could lose remote access when the PC goes idle
If my understanding is correct, then google's remote desktop name is somewhat misleading (assuming they are implying that their tool is a Microsoft Remote Desktop alternative). The Remote Desktop utility that comes with Windows (server version requires Windows Pro or higher) is not a help oriented tool. The screen on the remote computer's end will remain locked. So, for example, you can access the computer in your employer's office, and not worry that someone is there that can see what you are doing. It seems as if google's version is more like VNC, or Microsoft's Quick Assist, that allows the parties at both ends to view the activity on their screen, as well as both parties having full keyboard control and full mouse control. Also, unlike Microsoft's Remote Desktop, it looks like google's version requires an internet connection, and your trust in having all of your data go through a google server, somewhere on the planet. So if you have two PCs, side-by-side, and you use google's remote desktop, then your session is going out into the world and back, just to access a PC that is two feet away. With Microsoft's Remote Desktop, no internet connection is needed. If your two computers are on your own network, then you can connect directly. No one needs to approve your connection to the remote computer. You just log-in to that remote computer as if your keyboard was connected to it. Kevin, is my understanding correct? By the way, I mistakenly installed Windows 10 Home (instead of Windows 10 Pro) on a computer that I want to connect to via Microsoft's Remote Desktop. That computer does not have an internet connection, but it is on my local network. I could upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. But that is expensive. Is there a Remote Desktop alternative, that does not require an internet connection? I have not used VNC in 15 years. Is it a viable solution? Or is there a better option?
I have Windows 10 Professional for RDP but I also use TightVNC for that "assistant"-style remote control that requires a monitor connected. Pretty sure Microsoft RDP doesn't require a monitor connected to the host and allows concurrent sessions. I think your only other alternative to it is Tailscale or some Citrix product, or perhaps RoyalTS. I would avoid any SolarWinds software as they've had major security vulnerabilities and a poor record of security in the past few years.
I use Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) to connect my Windows desktop computer to a Window virtual machine that I setup on my NAS. It's all on the same network and works beautifully. I have confirmed with SpaceRex ( also here on YT ) that using Tailscale as my VPN of choice, I will be able to remotely connect to that same virtual machine using RDC if I install Tailscale on the virtual machine ( internet connection required of course ). Now my connections are all direct, machine to machine, without going through Google's servers. If you have never used Tailscale, it's worth a try. Free, easy to setup, and pretty much seamless.
Kevin is awesome, great teacher, very informative and whenever I am searching out how to do something and his face comes up I just click on it because I know I will get the explanation and solution the first time 👍 Awesome work Kevin thanks for all your work that goes into producing these videos. Lots of time and effort 👌
this is so cool. i have a chromebook, and it obviously can't open exe's. my main computer just can't really handle anything anymore, so this is great for me.
Hello, I really like the way you explain the topic. I do however want to know, when remoting into someone else's computer, do they need to download the app 1st, or just accept the access code you described?
Can Chrome Remote Desktop also be used to give support to family member's Android phones from my Win11 (w/Chrome) computer, or from my Android phone? Thanks
Great tool. I have been using this for years especially if there has been restrictions in the user being able to download and use quick support for TeamViewer or unable to get to grips with windows support
Brother, do you if this works even when the computer you want to remote in is on the lock screen? I’m going to MX and I need to access 2 computer that I’m not taking with me.
I came across this video just yesterday and went to google to get the download and it works. Question if anyone knows: Windows 11 will sleep/hibernate but I will be able to access computer on my phone (shortly). If the computer goes to hibernate/sleep for a while is the computer still in "hibernate/sleep" mode or is the computer shut down as I see the power key light "off"? I guess I will test out later today...
Are you able to remote into your work computer without them knowing? I'm trying to travel but keep my system at home but then be able to remotely connect to it from my personal .
@@tokscole9358 You have to download the app on the computer which is being accessed. After that you can access it through the google website on any other computer. So in your case, you would download the app on your home computer, then use the website(or app) on your laptop/phone/whatever. Make sense?
Do you have to be connected to the internet or can it be through any wifi? I run sound and connect my tablet to a wifi router that is connected to my computer which controls my mixer app. Many times i will not have access to internet. Yes i can control my mixer remotely but i would like to share the screen as i have other plugin apps that im unable to control this way. If i could share the screen then i would be able to control them. Hope that makes sense. I thought if i could somehow connect both computers to the same wifi that is not connected to the internet, maybe i could still share the screen.
Hello Kevin. I recently found you on TH-cam and let me just say that you are simply AWESOME! I am learning a lot from you when it comes to tech stuff. I have one request: Can you do a tutorial on how to create a good podcast?
I was having problems setting up RDC on my PC / Laptop can't find it. I assume that my firewall might have a port blocked. Do you have to unblock any ports to use this one? Your demo looked great. Is it safe from Hackers?
Do you have a detailed video on doing the key mapping and shortcuts and all that? I can't seem to find anything on the internet that discuss es and shows exactly how to do that.😊 Thanks!.
Hey Kevin/other people. Can you use this over a different network when installed? And if so, how can you realise that? Mine keeps telling me to connect to the same network, while I need it to work when I'm on my mobile 4g/5g
Hi Kevin, this video was great. But I have a question. If I am remoting in from my laptop into my desktop, what happens when my desktop falls asleep? After I can lock screen with Control-Alt-Delete, remoting in with Chrome still works for a few mins, but it won't work after an hour. How do I fix this please? Thanks for your great videos.
Also worth mentioning is that you do not need to be on the same wifi. Like you could just be connected to your phones 4G network and you are still able to connect to your PC remotely! I also found out that it's possible to remotely connect to your PC even tho you are not logged in to Windows :)
Hey kevin, can you please help me with the popup ?When you share your screen to Remote Desktop after 30 min it will throw a popup with two options (whether to (stop sharing or Continue) ). So I want to disable this popup , is this possible to do it ? Please help me with that.

Agreed he forgot. Thanks for sharing this I also having the same issue, I'll make sure the other PC is loggon to the same google account.
Probably wanted to keep it easy to understand
❤
I noticed that too. It has to be logged into same account
Thank you.
Thank you, Kevin! We tried it and it works! This will save us money and time. I agree with the others who call you and your videos awesome!
Brother, do you if this works even when the computer you want to remote in is on the lock screen?

Yes.
Of course.

Good One ....🙂 I tried it and works flawless...
It has potential of replacing anydesk as the full screen mode is really immersive
Another great tutorial from Kevin.Kevin, you're amazing. thank you
For me, the video was confusing at first. A few steps was left out to assume. Once I figured those out, I was golden. Thanks!!!

yes its extremely ironic that this does not work on chromebooks.
Awesome tips here, installed the extension and was connected to my remote PC in minutes!

It has to be noted that, the same Gmail account must be logged in with, at both ends.
