Until you sit in the middle of the wings, then you get this really really loud/obnoxious high pitched noise from the hydraulic pumps that causes you to go insane. It starts from having the take off flaps set to climbing during take off and then during approach and landing when flaps and gears are being used. According google, even dog transported on the B787 had to go to a therapy. Beside that, if you sit in the back or the front, you don't get hear the noise much. In the front, you just hear the GEnx. (I know from my own experience on the B787)

Funny thing is, there was even an article saying that a captain complained that it is too quiet, when he was trying to sleep during his crew rest, he couldn't sleep because the passenger noises/using toilets, kids. Etcs.
I’m thankful for it too because it is a shorter video instead of a long 20-25 minutes of plane taxiing to runway and then have to skip all the way to the takeoff that’s why I like videos when they skip recording the pushback and taxi and go straight to the takeoff and the first few minutes of the flight
@@simonev97 LOL too powerful… They don’t just crank them all the way up. Most jets take off with 85-95% power…and even if they *did* kick the throttle every time, it’d be fine. It would obviously cause more wear on the engines, up the fuel costs and financially burden the airline. But those engines are bolted the fuck down. When’s the last time you heard about an engine falling off an airplane? Donnie Darko? Some tiny country with zero safety standards? The activity in this video is statistically safer than almost anything you’ll do today.
Real answer here, it bends up a lot compared to other airliner because it has higher aspect ratio (skinny and long) and it also made from composite material which further increase the flexibility compared to aluminum construction.

Very smooth and quiet engine! That said, I truly miss the old TWA, Pan Am, and Olympic Boeing 707's I flew on as a kid and teen from JFK to Athens, Greece! I can still hear those Pratt & Whitney JT8D's screaming on takeoff!

Just initial take off shaking. Planes fighting high pressure under the wings during its climb for altitude as most planes do. Once it levels off its literally the smoothest passenger plane built today.
My almost last flight was American 191, a DC-10 from Chicago to LAX on May 25th, 1979, age 26. I booked Albany to O'Hare to LAX but changed my mind waiting for the cab in Schenectady. Somebody on Standby got my seat thinking he won the Lotto. It was Memorial Day weekend and everything was booked solid. 273 people went to Heaven. I'm still here. I filled a 32 page USA passport in 16 months, flew to every jobsite all around the world. I loved flying everywhere even after that incident and I am glad you got to go and enjoyed it. I hope you can go more!

There are a lot of people saying this engine is really quiet. While it is compared to other engines, what most people fail to realize is that videos are terrible ways of judging how loud/quiet an engine is. Too many variables at play from the time the sound is made by the engine to the time it makes it to your ear in the video to accurately attribute differences in perceived video volume to objective engine loudness: seating location, thrust setting, digital encoding of the sound by the device, alteration of the audio signal by software in post-processing, youtube's own volume normalization for uploaded videos, and of course the individual device you're watching on. To illustrate, I could easily change the audio gain on one video to make even a 707 sound quieter than a 787. It's why volume comparison videos of aircraft are completely worthless. So just be aware that how loud an engine sounds in the video is not representative of how quiet/loud it is in real life because of all the variables involved.
I live not too far from Boeing's Everett assembly plant where the company builds widebody jets. The 787 is the only aircraft that I can watch standing about 500 feet away as it revs up the engines for take off without covering my ears.
But, from seats in the cabin, it's always quieter in front of the plane....it's noisier if you sit behind the engines / thrust, as you move back to the rear of the plane.
Nice I prefer Rolls Royce but overall I love the view n the position of the camera as well as the best seat in that plane for sure its where I luv to seat all the time when I travel 🇦🇺 ✈
That instant acceleration has always been my favorite part of taking off. At 1:00 are they just slowly ramping up the power/throttle? (idk what it's called). Maybe a lot more rumbling? Just a lot of sounds I'm not familiar with.
Basically they are spooling the engines up so they both accelerate at the same time and sometimes they use a button called toga which can instantly accelerate the plane
I will be taking my first 787 flight next month, San Francisco to Athens. I LOVE the sound of screaming engines in flight, but this is BY FAR the quietest engine I have heard on a recording. I listen through Audio-Technica headphones, and when that plane crossed 1000, the sub-bass kicked in. Very low frequency. I'm looking forward to this flight.
Hey any EWR experts or any pilots on here can explain something for me? I noticed when the plane took off he banked to the left for a bit then did a big right turn. I’m curious as to why he didn’t just bank right to begin with? Last time I took off from EWR it was the same thing left bank after take off then big right turn. Im curious as to why they do that
I love how they painted on the spiral so it looks cool. Surely it serves no functional purpose, well actually maybe it's an instant visual of how fast the turbines are rotating. I bet it's both though.
The ratio of dudes to chicks that record takeoff/engine awesomeness is probably all of us to zero them, but there's no diff between us, right? They studied infants and found that girls habitually fix their gaze on the face of mom or the person holding them, and boys do the same - for a few brief seconds before shifting it to that funny spinning thing on the ceiling or the rectangular flickering noisy thing on the wall, etc.
I bet it was over 7 hours because it is a bigger plane and bigger planes can go further then smaller planes because they can carry more fuel and more passengers

I've flown on the 787 and how they have managed to get engines that quiet is beyond me, truly impressive.

The wings bend up like they do on take off because the FAA requires people that take up two seats to be placed in line with the wings.
