I'm Chinese-Indonesian, and the video games bit is too true. Literally no asian parent has ever wanted to just TRY video games. Even if you were a kid and you invited your dad for some reason for a co-op session, he'd just be sitting there completely clueless on how to do things, not even after you give him a run-down of the basics. They'll forever see video gaming as a silly waste of time, and us growing up in this generation, they'll never understand that video games and their existence are so much more than they think.

Asian parents actually struggled more than their kids. They immigrated from Asia and it was really hard. Even though they may be harsh on their kids, they're just trying to make them feel at ease. Because asian parents don't want their kids to struggle like them.

This applied to me ever second of every day as I was one of those disabled kids old school Irish Protestant and English Catholic families do NOT want but out of some twisted cultural or religious thing don't believe in putting their kids in an orphanage for a better life besides being their self hating punching bag!!! Yes my father is like this and my mom isn't. Neither are Asian, but my dad is an immigrant from South Africa and my mom just is ... ancestrally American? Hahah. So anyway yeah, I feel that's a common thing with immigrant parents to want to provide for their children and not have them work. My mom worked all through high school and college so I thought that would be expected of me, but it was a big issue because my dad didn't want me to... I didn't end up with a job until senior year because of that.
***** Well polish parents are like that cause when they were kids they lived in communist Poland. And since we can become nearly anything we want here our parents are like "better use it to the best of your ability because we weren't that lucky when we were kids" that's why my parents are like that.
