    Thank you so much for doing these tutorials! I've had this camera for a year and finally had to pull it out for my first photography class. I learned more from this video than I have in two weeks in class. - and you have a dreamy accent so that helps too ;)

    Hi Tom great videos, can you please suggest setting to use for firework. Thanks

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Riz B Several ways of doing it. A very slow shutter speed whilst on a tripod is best. If very dark, you can leave the shutter open for a minute or more and put some black card infront of the lens between fireworks. It does involve a bit of trial and error. If there are lots of other light sources in the frame, then that method won't work as well. If you want to capture individual blasts, than a fast shutter speed and very quick reactions are best.

    Thanks for your videos about the D3300, it helped me a lot since im not so familiar with the DSLR.
    I got one question.Why on my movie settings i dont get 60p but i get 50p?

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +klitoni1 Its due to the video settings, either PAL or NTSC. Change it to whichever its not and youll get 60p

    Hello, and Thank You. I live in the Arctic and would know What the best setting for my Camera should be? Thanks !

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m afraid there is no answer to this. There is no such thing as a best setting. Every situation is different and has to be taken at face value each time. Light, movement, depth of field all are individual to each photograph and the settings have to be changed to suit what ever you are trying to convey in each photograph.

    Hi, do you have any idea why my D3300 doesn't seem to have 1080p 60fps ?
    I only seem to have up to 1080p at 50 fps for some reason.
    Nice video by the way!.

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to change from PAL to NTSC or the other away around, I forget which.

    Can anyone here help me with this issue with my D3300: During playbacks on a recorded video, the audio is running about 2-3 seconds ahead of the video. Can someone tell me how I can get them in sync?

  • @Spasmaticus
    @Spasmaticus 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nooby question so forgive my formulating of it, when you shoot RAW, how do you put it on the computer and use it? I tried to open mine via GIMP for example but it didn't want to work. I had to convert down to TIF and later on also to PNG for posting on Instagram. I'm sure there is an easier way, should I should JPG fine right away perhaps? I would love to learn RAW from the beginning though... :D

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Case You need a program like adobe lightroom to import your raw files, and once edited you export them as jpg for sharing on the web or whatever. You can also use nikons free software that came with the camera, but it's not all that good.

    • @Spasmaticus
      @Spasmaticus 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, thank you for the quick reply. I really like your videos and how you compartmentalize the material. So GIMP wouldn't be able to handle the role that Lightroom fills then right? Is Lightroom free? As you might notice I'm on a budget haha :)

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Justin Case I've never used gimp so I couldn't comment on its fictions. Lightroom is not free sadly, although they did used to have a free 30 day trial. The lightroom/photoshop cloud package is about 8.99 a month I think. If you really want to shoot in raw then you need a decent program not just for edits, but for storage and cataloging. Lightroom in my opinion is by the far the best.

    • @TomPhotoix

    If I used Paint to open a raw image then saved it in jpeg would the jpeg quality be the same as if I shot the image directly in jpeg? Also would a raw-to-jpeg conversion in Paint be of same quality as any other program, like Photoshop or Gimp?

    • @xbeanx3000
      @xbeanx3000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I say 'Paint' I mean the prog that's found in Windows itself, MS Paint.

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +xbeanx3000 I doubt paint can even open RAW files, but if it could, then yes the jpg quality should be more or less the same as shooting in jpg. But if you are t going to edit the raw file, there is no point shooting in raw, just shoot jpg.

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Manish Sankari I don't have a d3300 to try it on, but try main menu then custom setting menu then shooting/display then d2 is viewfinder grid display.

    • @ManishSankari
      @ManishSankari 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well thanks for reply. Unfortunately In D3300 there is no custom setting. It has Playback menu, Shooting menu, Setup menu, Retouch menu and Recent menu. so I did not find shooting/display :(

    • @TomPhotoix
      @TomPhotoix  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Manish Sankari looking further into this, the d3300 doesn't appear to have this function in the viewfinder. It might do in live view though, I didn't look Into that part.

    Hi Tom, should video setting be PAL or NTSC

    • @tahmidt
      @tahmidt 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Choose NTSC, that enables video recording at 60fps. Pal limits the frame rate to just 50.

      The d3300 doesn’t have wifi, you have to use an adapter. I guess Nikon changed the firmware so the menu option doesn’t show unless the adapter is plugged in.
