Touching story...I did go to Maeteng few years ago with 2 Thai friends when a holy monk Parinibana ( Passed away) ..the monk i respected so much. I didn't know any elephant sanctuary... Maybe next time I will stop over ...

I have been to a elephant santuary in sri lanka and memories came from that trip. They also made paper from the poo of the elephants. Enjoyed the bonding. Thanks for the content. Keep enjoying your thai exploration ❤

That Sunrise right at the beginning brings smiles back to my face .. just like it down south in the Pakse region of Laos after a night of Lightning strikes throughout the night .. then the blast of fresh clean air 🤗☺️. Fun fact, Thai elephants like to be call P Yai’ or Por Yai’ then follow by their name. It means big brother or big father, they like to hear us showing respect to them. People only call only elephants name to baby elephants.
So, does that mean that Note's family are from the Karen ethnic group in Thailand? I've read that members of the Karen tribe in Northern Thailand have long been the main handlers / caretakers of the elephants in the country.
@ 20:14 the care taker says male elephants like to be alone because the herd leaders are female and they don't likle to be under a female leader, UNLIKE HUMANS...LOL!

We agree, Chiang Mai city itself is lovely but there's a lot to see in the outer districts like Mae Taeng, Chiang Dao, Mae Rim, Mae Wang etc...

It's definitely easier to find a ethical sanctuary in Chiang Mai than some of the other cities in Thailand.

No he’s not related to the Karen tribe. His family is from Esan (northeastern Thailand) and moved to the North to live and work.
