      Early 80's were the best years ever in Sports and Entertainment. The NCAA tournament was insane with all the talent. Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna all came on the scene. Everything was awesomeness back then.

    Curt Warner, was the first great Hawks, RB, over 1400, yards rushing in his rookie season. He could cut back against the grain and leave defenders grabbing at thin air. I had his Sports Illustrated, poster, when I was a kid. If he didn't tear his left ACL, on opening day , 84, he might have joined Dickerson, in the HOF, he was that good, but that injury and others sadly derailed a lot of his career. Go Hawks

    What about 2011 draft? Von Miller, JJ Watt, Cam Newton, Patrick Peterson, Richard Sherman, Chris Harris Jr, Justin Houston, Cam Jordan, Cam Heyward, Ryan Kerrigan, Tyron Smith, AJ Green, Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, Rodney Hudson, Randall Cobb, Demarco Murray, Jurrell Casey, KJ Wright. At least 7 of those have a chance of making it to the hall of fame, and the draft was just more well balanced.

      Used to be the best, and legitimately dominated the league in the 30s and 40s. We even had half of our team go to fight in WW2 and came back and still won another championship or two w/ Sid Luckman. The Bears and Cardinals (formerly a Chicago team) are the only two original members of the NFL remaining (GB joined the following year). The Bears are a historic franchise and the league wouldnt be anywhere as popular as it is without da bears!

      Not mentioned in the video is the several undrafted players of note.
      Bobby Hebert, who (like Jim Kelly) would play with the USFL, would prove to be the best quarterback after the first round. A native of Louisiana, he would become the first quarterback to lead the New Orleans Saints to the postseason in 1987.
      The Dallas Cowboys would discover three undrafted players who would become stalwarts: offensive lineman Nate Newton (who tried unsuccessfully with division rival Washington), defensive tackle Mark Tuinei and safety Bill Bates. Yet another undrafted defensive lineman from the Class of 1983, Brian Sochia, would reach the Pro Bowl with the Miami Dolphins.

    8 Hall of Famers SO FAR. Not HOFers as of now: Chris Hinton 7 Pro Bowls, 5x All-Pro - strong case; Joey Browner 6 Pro Bowls; 4x All-Pro - good case; Roger Craig 4 Pro Bowls, 2x All-Pro, 3x Super Bowl champion - very good case; Mark Clayton 5 Pro Bowls, 3x All-Pro - good case; Karl Mecklenburg 6 Pro Bowls, 4x First Team All-Pro - strong case; Nate Newton 6 Pro Bowls, 2x All-Pro, 3x Super Bowl champion - good case. I think 2-3 of these players eventually make it. Hinton, Craig, and Mecklenburg deserve a very close inspection.

    After the LA Raiders won the SB in January of '83, the following NFL draft there was a record 6 QBs taken in the first round.
    All the teams that chose those QBs were in the AFC.
    The NFC then won the next 13 SBs.
    Those 6 QBs were a combined 2-9 in the SB. The 2 wins came in the last 2 games.

      Actually, the '89 draft wasn't that great. It was extremely top heavy. After the first few picks that you mentioned there was only a handful of good players. There have been several drafts that were better overall.

      @byrongammonbyrongammon9937 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Musicvidsetc .....THANK YOU!!!! The 1989 Draft is overrated. Barry Sanders is the gem of this draft. He got 4 out of 5 votes to be a First Team All-Pro as a rookie. Derrick Thomas was an incredible pass rusher but in his team’s most important game of his career, 1993 AFC Championship Game vs the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs benched him for the entire 2nd half because he was a liability against the run. Aikman win 3 SB titles before injuries sat him down for good.
      The 1981 NFL Draft was SICK!!!
      6 players made the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team:
      Lawrence Taylor
      Ronnie Lott
      Kenny Easley
      Mike Singletary
      Howie Long
      Russ Grimm

    This draft class had a classic overachiever and a classic underachiever-both were QB's. Also, one QB-Dan Marino had 5 possible Super Bowl runs stopped by other QB's in this class of '83. Tony Eason stopped Marino in '85, Jim Kelly stopped him in '90, ;92, and '95, and John Elway stopped him in '98.

    • @dennismumford6108
      @dennismumford6108 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The classic underachiever in this class was Marino. No other QB had so much success a majority of the time IN THE REGULAR SEASON and then played so mediocre to bad and had so very little success IN THE PLAYOFFS as Marino.

    • @dennismumford6108

      The classic overachiever-Jim Kelly. The Bills were 9-4 in the playoffs in their 4 S.B. years but they were the worst Defense on the field in 12 of those 13 playoff games by OFFICIAL NFL Rankings.

    • @dennismumford6108
      @dennismumford6108 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the Bills were OFFICIALLY Ranked 27th (out of only 28 teams) on Defense in both '91 and '93 yet they were in the Super Bowl both years. No QB did more with less than Jim Kelly.

    • @jab1289
      @jab1289 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dennismumford6108 This is ridiculous. From 1985-89, Miami's defenses were ranked in the bottom third of the NFL in yards allowed. Kelly's defenses weren't great, but they were usually better than what Miami had from 1987-96 (especially in 88 and 89. Those defenses were better than the SB defenses).

    • @dennismumford6108
      @dennismumford6108 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jab1289 But, Kelly did lead 2 teams ('91 and '93) to the S.B. that were actually Ranked 27th on Defense by OFFICIAL NFL Rankings and you have to give him EXTRA CREDIT for that. How did Marino play in the playoffs when he had the 26th Ranked Defense in '97---he was terrible. He lost 14-3 and had a Passer Rating of only 29.3---that is what you might expect.
