So that one lady has been in the UK for 15 years and has been denied asylum 3 times, but now she has a child so it’s all ok? What is she seeking asylum from? And why, after 15 years can she not speak English?? And she’s working illegally but hey, whatever right?!

I remember 20years ago, a girl from my country gets a scholarship to study in UK in the same Uni I studied. She brought along her boyfriend whom she married in secret without their parents knowing, the boyfriend was also enrolled in Law course but never attended a single day of the course. From day 1 worked in bar and then the girl slowly stopped going to her class.
I got my degree, worked 2 years under work experience scheme, then left. Now I'm in living in NZ. The girl and her boyfriend were deported on the 4th year.

I guess that's the same situation in a lot of countries. I guess the reason is that when you're abroad, your passport is the only documents that can identify you. Therefore, if you destroyed it, the immigration officers couldn't deport you just because they believe you're from a certain country. They need evidence. But I believe that they officer in the video said that the African man had to report to the immigration office every week, or he would've been detained until he had gotten on hold of his new passport and been removed from the country, if he had been apprehended again.

We had over 300,000 overseas students studying in Australia. 180,000 were found to be fraudulent. Also here, anyone who is found to be here illegally are kept in detention, not released into the community, even if they appeal. If you are found here as an illegal and you have no documents you are shipped to an offshore detention facility and repatriated anyway. If you arrive by plane and you present to immigration having "lost" your documents, you are placed back on the plane and its the airlines problem to return you home. All appeals for asylum are processed by the UNHCR.

To be fair to the chef I can totally understand bringing her knives with her legitimately to use whilst away. If you're not in a trade you might not realise the significance of your own equipment. As in the classic rifleman's creed "This is my rifle, there are many like it, but this one is mine". Your trade tools are personal and it's probable you could travel with them. Likewise it's probably keeping a few copies of your CV in a laptop bag, the problem is with so many copies AND the knives AND the current situation back home... it doesn't make for a very compelling story when you factor all the evidence.

In the websites of Consular Offices, it is stated clearly that the issuance of Visa doesn't fully assure you of entrance to the country. At your port of entry, the immigration officers or border officer has every right to check your documents. The immigration rules are the same in every country. Proper documentation is needed. Immigration officers are trained to do their job. They base their judgment on the documents presented to them and the answers to their questions during interview.

Submitted all the documents, my return journey tickets booked with BA etc. Showed 15000 pounds in my account to cover the costs. And guess what happens next, my visa is rejected, and the letter stated that they don't believe I would be coming back after my course is done. Called the School and they asked me to take a punt by paying the full course fees, downside would have been that they would've taken 10 percent of the 12000 pounds fees if my visa gets declined again. Applied again and it got through. Lost roughly 6k in Indian currency for the failed visa application and quite a lot on the BA air tickets also the declined stamp on my passport.
