Howitzer style 30mm Cannon (HE part 2/2)

- The problem is that the shell is too light and has low density, so it may not even reach 100 yards.
I made everything with 3D printing except screws, wires, and springs.
Q: "When it comes to targeting humans, how would it fare?"
A: "They might get angry. It's quite painful."
Well, over the past few weeks, many people have been curious about how dangerous this can be. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

Hey! Are the CAD-files also available when I buy the Patreon? Or is it just the STL?
@Flasutie I really enjoy your stuff and i want to follow it but when making the HHO gas you can get electrolysis, explostions, chlorine gas,and more deadly stuff so please make a video so i can do it without being dead
you also never told me what specific lighter that sparky thing came from
I didn't think redneck nerds existed
It's the fact that it is all 3d printed, and that pretty much everyone with a 3d printer big enough can just make this, that makes it so cool. Plus, it was way stronger than I expected!
and at the same time so dangerous, imagine a mental nurse creating a rifle based on a 3D printer
@@kar7899Its also really good for WW3
@@kar7899mental nurse?
Not everyone with a 3d printer can "just do it" have you seen the tolerances of those prints? Also the surface finish. The dude either tuned his printer to perfection or has a pro grade printer like Ultimaker. Watch TH-cam closely, not mentioning any names but most 3d printer creator channels don't hold a candle to the quality this guy managed to output (some even "showcase" points with voids in them).

As an artilleryman, I appreciate this a great deal haha. I'm a seperate-loaded howitzer kind of guy, but I can appreciate the fixed/sem-fixed ammunition sorts just as well! This looks like an awesome project!
Yeah I was looking at it and just thought "this man just straight built a 777" (777 guy here)
@@sgtsnake13B Felt the same!
Well, as Gunner of OTO Melara 76/62 naval artillery I confirm that.Cheers

i noticed something. the HE round has more kick than AP round
You have a keen eye! To achieve a more dynamic "movement," I completely removed the vent cap.
how about trying a one away vavle design!@@Flasutie
thank you! i think the HE casing has more combustible gas in it. i want to recomend to change the gas you use into hydrogen + oxygen but nevermind that was too dangerous to use but maybe on shell
@@marcelinosanantonio2161 he already used hydrogen and oxygen
he used a hydrolisys reaction to break water down to its basic components hydrogen and oxygen and took the mixxed gas and put it in the shell
this gas is also known as oxyhydrogen

Everyone out here impressed by the fact it's 3d printed and how much planning you did, but seem to forget that it's all done INDOORS
I think the fuse and the amounts of fragments is the best part. He must've used flash powder or black powder right? Maybe C02 or compressed air?
he uses hydrogen/oxygen mix of gas if im remembering right@@Austin-cx2xe

Yep it‘s HHO. He says so in the video and he used it for his hand grenade thing in a previous video.
Is it lethal

I can never sleep, but it’s cool to watch him build it
"just as the founding fathers intended..."
That is stupidly cool, i thought the recoil mitigation cylinders were entirely useless but they actually work, allowing the barrel to slide back, this is an underrated channel!
I never comment on videos like this because theres always just SOMETHING wrong, but this time I was genuinely SO impressed with the amount of thought put into it! Please keep up the amazing work!
This is honestly one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen anyone make on TH-cam! The creativity and precision on display here is phenomenal.
The time, effort, and money it took to create this, even with a 3d printer, makes this a legendary passion project. This is awesome.
This is such an incredible use of 3D printing. Really impressive design
this might just be my favorite channel. the videos just keep getting better and better and are always fun to watch
Hello!
i was waiting for this
Hi you doing great!!
Hello
Yo
Keep up the good work!
The cannon is beautiful - and, aside from the actual experimentation done on this channel, I keep learning new mechanical elements to apply in my future 3D prints.
The breech system looks very fun, and I really enjoy your attention to detail whrn it comes to safety, like that disconnect able plug to avoid any potential of a misfire.
The shell... I think we can call it an LE shell lol - but that water splatter says it all, the reaction really did happen!
thats actually amazing! as someone interested in weapon design adn 3d printing, i find this so cool and inspiring. You should make upgrades to this cannon and implement the other projectile styles that you have made.
This might be the coolest video I have seen on TH-cam for quite a while. Thank you for your fantastic work.
Implementing all mechanisms of the howitzer with 3d printer and gas. Beautiful !!
Wow, very nice job! I really want to see more ammo types from you. I'd REALLY enjoy watching HEAT and HESH shells in action :)
Probably be incredibly difficult and probably illegal/dangerous, since both of them need a) solid explosives and b) and actual high explosive to work.
Heat might work if you’d put propellent inside the big shell and put a sub projectile inside it so it can point blank blast thru a wall
@@catfwish I mostly agree, though he could make a HEAT shell that uses a liquid instead of a solid so he doesn't have to make a truly destructive jet or anything. That and making a HESH round might just be an air filled balloon that is squashed against the target and popped by a fuse triggering a CO2 canister at the back to increase pressure until bursting. Might work, might not work, but at least it isn't miniaturizing actual munitions.
I love these videos so much! As someone who is interested in this stuff but doesn’t understand it fully, this is very informative
The way his videos just scratch and massage my simple mind are sooo satisfying and therapeutic….
Feels like being a kid again playing with our lovely awesome toy
STL file sir ?
This is a work of art. I love your videos, it’s exactly the type of stuff I’m in to and it’s so hard to find videos like this.
I waited so long for part 2 and it's better than I could ever hope for.
Your HE shell did work lad, its just the material you used is weak and thin but it did work like it's intended to do. It worked almost similar to the HESH round fired by artilleries and tanks. And its so damn satisfying
personally id compare it to a APHE shell with a low trigger penetration
At this rate I expect this guy to eventually make either a railgun that shoots at 6 times the speed of sound, a Warhammer 40K Bolter or a micro tank that can take out a care in no time.
What are you talking about
Look up half these ideas and you'll see
This is excellent content! Your 3D printing and design skills are highly evolved.
Your work is truly impressive! Always exceeds expectations.
Keep up the fantastic work! 👍👍
Do some testing with different barrel lengths, Twist Rates or muzzle brakes. Would be interesting to see the results
Would be interesting to see if brakes have any effect on recoil. My initial guess of there’s not enough volume for it to really matter. Only one way to find out!
“Nothing special” WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU LITERALLY CAN MAKE A HOLE IN MY BODY
This is actually crazy impressive. Amazing work
This is one of my favourite channel now
All I can say is, it's a damn good thing 3D printers weren't available when I was a Network Engineer. This would have been awesome for the cubicle wars. Only the idiots I worked with would have used actual gun powder or something to make it explode on impact. Cubicle Wars could go from Cold War Arms race / build up, to an endless back & forth escalation over literally anything.(Anyone from 2000-2010 knows exactly what I'm talking about, back when you could get by with doing that crap.) I miss those days so much, as well as the mid 90s.
Did y'all use Febreze grenades, or was chemical warfare banned at your office?
@@DH-xw6jp No, never heard of those & that's probably a very good thing. Now colored, scented smoke bombs like you get on the 4th of July is an entirely different matter, that I know nothing about....would you like to hear the back & forth between my self Network Engineer (Windows weenie) & the Network Engineer Cisco guru)???
@@Administrator_O-5 lol.
A Febreze grenade is just a can of Febreze (the aerosol air freshener) with a ziptie wrapped around the trigger. As you are leaving a room you tighten the ziptie (so that it sprays continuously) and drop it as you close the door behind you.
@@DH-xw6jp nice! I don't want to bore you with the story unless you want to hear it.
@@Administrator_O-5 oh, have at it.
An entertaining story is always appreciated.
But I'm not a network engineer, so I may not understand all the lingo.
Which artillery is better real or 3d printed? lets find out

this person is so good, most underrated channel I've ever seen
This is the most amazing thing I've seen in a long time. Just amazing.
Dude these are incredible. Please continue this!!
my two cents on what could be done as improvements
+stronger spring on the shell ejection
+mechanisms that can:
-hold the round in the chamber during loading and when the gun is at high elevation angle
-engage the ejection mechanism only after the round has been fired and the breech subsequently opened
+some sort of sealing around the projectile base so that less propellant pressure is lost during firing, or switching to smoothbore.
+probably a cradle to guide the round into the breech
This is absolutely insane. Well done!
I am fascinated by how smooth your prints are especially fillets. A tutorial on that would be amazing.
I'm very glad I subscribed to this channel. Love the content!
finally part 2, great job, love your content

This is pretty cool. I've been thinking about designing a miniature cannon for a while now.
A little tip: you can rub graphite on parts that make contact to lubricate them

You are definitely on the list now. Only a matter of changing materials, finer tolerances and finer finishing. Steel and titanium can be 3D printed.

Not sure if you are a part of that 3d printing community but I imagine many would love the 3d print this 😁
this 3d printed howitzer is AWSOME!
My man casualy building a canon in his home 😅 damn.. astonishing work, as usual !
As a lover of weapons and things that go boom, this had me giggling throughout the whole process, a shame the sparkplug system doesn't allow for a simple firing mechanism, otherwise you could've had a sliding breech setup for a way more scenic loading and ejection sequence, but this is amazing!
When the ATF looks at this video they’re going to somehow assume that this is a weapon of mass destruction and they’re going to be knocking down your door
That print quality is insane
Wow you even managed to pause on it, this is incredible lol
I've been waiting for you.
Looks like, this man is an engineer, Awesome 🤙
The is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in my life
And they were afraid of ghost guns. This dude is printing artillery. I like it...
Closer to SAP shells than pure HE but beautifully done regardless. It’s amazing you were able to make it with just 3D parts that so cleanly fit together despite the meticulous detail. Most complicated prints I’ve seen people do take a lot of sanding to fit together properly. Just wish the plastic sliding against plastic wasn’t the worst sound to my ears because it makes it hard to fully appreciate the loading and unloading.
the HE shell is amazing!!!
Man, that just AWESOME! Homemade howitzer - its supercool
Was wondering, I winder if making the shell case TPU could aid in gas sealing? When it fires, instead of the case having to withstand the pressure, it'll expand a little, sealing against the barrel and hopefully making firing more efficient.
ive watched a few of your videos by now.
you are insanely impressive, earned a sub without much of a second thought :)
or as we would say in germany: "passformen machen mich geil"
