@@ThePurringJournal My cat’s favourite warm spot is on the heat register in the bathroom or bedroom. If I’m in bed it’s on the bed or sometimes under the covers with me.
My cat is usually just hanging on me when we go to bed he sleeps in my arms he's my little baby
Underneath the covers of my queen-sized bed. I have seen her slide right in!
laying on the heating vent
My lap :)
Otherwise, a "cave cat bed" and/or on top of my comforter.
Our neighbor's outside cat has adopted us. We are usually home and started letting her come in when the winter weather got very cold. Her owners are hardly ever home and only see her as the mouser. She is only allowed in the garage when they let her in. But the dog is allowed in their house.
She's been at our house for several days now because of the extreme cold we are having.
We even made an insulated container under our shed's porch roof in case she ever needs it.
I hate people that do that. With dogs, I don't get why you would get one then stake in yard on chain no running no play JUST THERE. I just don't get it. I even took a horse from people in Florida I don't go for abuse
I had neighbours like that too. They had a dog and a cat. They treated the dog like royalty, but wouldn't let the cat into their house. They eventually just abandoned him. Some people don't deserve cats.
Terry and Denise
Too many people don't deserve pets. They have them for the wrong reasons.
After we lost our last cat to cancer, it took a long time to get over it. Then our lifestyle changed, and we couldn't be good pet owners. But then this cat widdled her way in. Though she is still theirs, we fill in some of the care she needs. She fills in some of what we need.
We do know that when this cold snap breaks, she will head over to her home, but if they aren't there, she will come back here. Just so she leaves some tracks in the snow so they know she is still around.
That's very thoughtful of you. Cats aren't as tough and hardy as some people think. Yes, they have a fur coat, but they need more care and protection when the conditions worsen. I'm sorry your kitty got cancer. It must have been so hard to watch the poor thing suffer.
@@barbaram5787 KEEP HER, PLEASE!
My cat sleeps between me and my wife every night and we have a throw blanket that's there just to cover him up. He loves his spot and we love him being there bc we get to cuddle with him.
My dog sleeps wherever he wants on the bed and it changes everyday..even though temperature is the same unless i forget to reduce the temp at night.
I'm a bit jealous. My kitty does not like cuddling. I have a box with a blanket in it, on the botton half of the pther side of the bed, and he sleeps in there. Sometimes. He likes to be near, and only when he feels like it.
We live in the mountains where average temp in winter is low teens and lower. My heated throw wore out and I got a new one. The old one had a dial for turning on and setting temp. The new cover has a push vutton controller and my cat has figured this out. At first I thought I was just getting forgetful and then I caught him pushing it on and when he heard the click I watched as he turned circles and got all comfy. It turns off after 3 hours so I just let him enjoy it.
@userused3199 I have a cat who would turn on the window AC unit when he got to warm. He's a big fluffy one-eyed white kitty.
@@gpilsitz1783 My guy is 12 yo and I'm 62 and we don't handle the cold like we used to in our prime. I'll have to keep an eye on the AC unit now. LOL
That is absolutely adorable! Cats are so clever when it comes to finding comfort-he’s mastered the heated throw life! Sounds like he knows how to stay cozy during those chilly mountain winters.
@@userused3199 You trained your cat well :) Enjoy the warmth :)
I have an electric blanket, and 2 of my cats have figured out the warmth and enjoy a snuggle :)
I also have self warming beds & blankets for my super seniors, one has arthritis, and it makes a huge difference.
@@userused3199 People that have not owned cats usually think they are not intelligent and cannot be trained but I have found this to be just the opposite. In November 2023, we had a kitten follow my husband into our house and I taught her to scratch cardboard scratchers. She is the perfect kitty and has never done anything destructive in our house. She just loves to eat and be loved! When I previously had to put my last cat down, I prayed to Jesus and told Him I would not look for a cat but if He sent me one I would take care of it. Four years later and after my heart had healed some from losing Princess, Molly walked into our home and my husband and I are in love with her. Thank You Jesus for our baby.
I had a Siamese who learned to turn the heater on when she got cold.
That is great. You gave me an idea to look for a new heater, with a switch they can turn off. Thanks
@MaggieLogue That's really smart! My cat tought himself how to get under all the blankets and top sheets on our bed and tuck himself in.
@@KimCarter-pd5lk touch buttons! My cat will use those non-mechanical touch sensitive buttons but she has trouble with anything that has to be clicked in-out or flipped. A freinds' dog taught himself to use a fan with same kind of buttons.
@@MaggieLogue my cat would jump and turn up the thermostat, it was round (30 years ago) and easy for her to do.
The kids got blamed for it, until I caught her jumping.
My cat has his own bedroom, (my home office), and I keep a Lasko heater in there set to 80 degrees year round, and keep the air vent there closed. This is because we like our home at around 68-70 during the day and 65 to sleep with. He's also 20yrs old, very thin, and is dealing with kidney issues. I want my little old man as comfortable as possible, and he has two beds, a big fluffy grounded blanket, and a thick persian rug to keep his feet warm too. Happy New Year to my fellow cat lovers! 🥰
@@Nightbird. I keep my house at 28 degrees Celsius at all times for my old cat
Ditto. Mine is almost 21. I just got him a heated bed, but he wants none of it. He’d rather curl up on my hip into a ball.
My cats keep their bellies warm by hugging each other while sleeping, added bonus is that it looks incredibly cute
Kittens will huddle together also.
I wonder if that’s why my 2 cats started sleeping together all of a sudden. They never did before about a month ago. It is nice and warm in here but maybe they feel cold. Thank you for this information.
@@AdrienneMint Cat’s body temperature is generally a little higher than humans. If you give them a warm bed in the same room you hang out and they choose that spot consistently, they may need a little more warmth.
@@AdrienneMint so why don’t you create a warm place for them?
@ 1. I have a heated cat bed, big enough for both of them. I have a cozy soft bed with a blanket for each cat, next to the radiator. My cat tree is also next to a radiator. I even sued my building to get new radiators and i got them and have very good heat now. I don’t know what else to do for my cats, i have done all i can think of, honestly.
I have several outdoor cats that I did TNR on as they are feral, some became pets and came inside, some are still outside and still friendly, some I still cannot touch. All my outside cats have insulated shelters filled with straw, protected from wind and rain/snow and they are able to do well in that environment. Straw is the best insulator for shelters to keep animals warm with their own body heat. I also have had heated houses for them kept in protected areas, but most of the shelters are insulated coolers which makes them even better to hold the heat from the straw. I have a large covered and enclosed feeding station, as well, where they can eat without getting wet in bad weather. I wish all the cats could come in, but lol... that is just not possible. 😺
@@nancyh697
I made insulated ice chest type shelters for the community cats, but they won’t use them. Any tips to attract them to the shelters?
@@Tootsie806 Supposedly they should have 2 openings so they can escape if an another animal comes through the door. I think you can put curtains over the openings to keep the heat in.
@
Thanks.
@@JohnHoranzy Jupp this and also put the openings on the long sides at either end, a shit load of STRAW not hay and can use a tarp around the shelter that both gives extra insulation and wind protection and also pull it down so covers most of the opening but not all and put the openings so that they are sheltered from the wind. if possible situate in the lee of a house or sheed or trees bushes for wind protection and direct the openings towards the house or shed wall with enough open space to run either way. Also the tarps can help conceal the true nature of the shelters which is important as not all people are good people.
Very important to use straw and not hay, yes. I had a barn cat that I finally took in. There are new cats dumped off in our rural area constantly but townies. Yeah we like that they keep the mice away but we feel responsible for them. I live in northern ny…it gets cold and very windy on our mountain😢
My cat tends to burrow in to the covers on my bed and sleep in the covers for a few hours in cold mornings
During the winter months, I feel so horrible for ferals - especially horrible, that is. When I had my own home, I always put out a homemade cat "den" that was waterproof and had warm bedding (not cloth). Now, however, I can't do so and wish I could.
Aww that's sad ❤
@@scottstrain8388 We feed them all Year and warm up their food in the winter ❄️🥶 and put carpets down so they can eat on a carpet instead of ground..It is sad and horrible.
My granddaughter is my caregiver. We adopted a left behind cat , though we have to share him with our apartment complex of 60 apartments. He is so friendly that h is GeForce and invited inside whenever or wherever he goes.
We built a cat house for the winter cold that just hit Central Virginia. He loves it if he doesn’t have a home to visit.
He really hates to stay inside . The only 18 hours he spent straight inside was our first snow day in
5 years- his first ever snow. We love “our” boy.
My husband is an electronics engineer and has built warmers for our cats that we have spread throughout the house and outdoors for our neighborhood cats. They LOVE them!
My 15 year old female Ragamuffin has a heated cat bed in between my wife's and my pillow. She loves it at night. During the day, she likes any window the sun is shining through. 😺
Very smart kitty cat
My girl cat wakes me up to steal the warm spot where I lay. My indoor/outdoor guy sometimes is very cold when he won't come in. I roll him up in my lap blanket and he will stay there until he warms up
My husand bought a heat cat house that we set next to garage. The 3 feral cats love it.We already have 3 fixed inside cats.We feel sorry for them and glad they are using the cat house and keeping warm.
I emptied one side of my interior bathroom vanity and put a towel hat is only used by her as a nest.
When she wants to be warm, dark, and/or quiet, she can paw the cabinet door open as it is not latched.
I go in, open the door, meow at her, then shut it again.
She may or may not come out of that time. 🐈⬛😸
Another place is the inaccessible to me recessed cabinet above the fridge.
She runs atop the kitchen cabinets to the refrigerator, jumps to there, then paws open that door the same way
So I put a self heating cat pad up there.
I’m short anyway, so I can’t use that cabinet. 😹
In the winter I keep a heating pad with the lowest level for safety and they love it.
Yes, it is a good idea. I have 2 heating pads for mine
Just got one for our 3 cats and a heated water bowl. Got tired of watering several times a day.
When I had my indoor-outdoor cat for 15 years, we BOTH liked the house at 75 degrees F. One of the fun things we enjoyed was taking naps together. I would lay on my back and my cat would lay on top of me. It's nice to drift off to sleep with a purring, furry friend.
Of all of the myriad reasons to thoroughly insulate your home, doing it for the comfort of your cat has to be the most unique !:-) 😽
They deserve to be warm and cozy! 😻
She lays on the floor as we have under floor heating !!!!…otherwise on her cosy cushion or she sneaks under the duvet 😂…she’s an indoor cat 🐈⬛…she loves snuggles with us too ❤❤❤
I had a cat that used to love the heater so much she would get so close to it. One day I smelled burning hair and she was so close to the heater that her fur on her side had singed.
PLEASE KEEP ALL KITTIES WARM, ESPECIALLY IF YOU FIND ONE OUTSIDE. PUT A SELF HEATING MAT OR A HEAT INSULATED TENT OUTSIDE. THEY CANT SPEAK BUT THEY HAVE FEELINGS TOO💔🙏☹️
Our Sophie tunnels under the blankets on the beds in the spare (formally our kid's) bedrooms. She starts purring when I pet the "lump in the blanket". She knows I located her, but leave her to herself which she prefers. Once we go to bed, she joins us in our bed.
its summer here in NZ, so everyone has summer coats on
we have an outside cat with a very short coat, he spent the last three nights in my bed, under the covers as we have had snow flurries not far from us
Puffball has been a great hot water bottle for me, i will go call him in before it gets dark
My sweet baby girl lays on the heating pad and she quickly falls to sleep. She also gets in the bed with me and my husband and lays between us under the blanket.
My cat’s favorite warm spot is on my lap
@judyl5260 that's where one of mine is right now as watching this video. My other one is laying right beside me.
One of ours likes to curl up beside me on an old recliner in the garage.
My cat only likes to sleep on natural wool blankets or old sweaters. I put one on my bed, I knitted a wool blanket for his cat bed.
I almost didn't watch this video. Not for the video itself but because I lost my oldest baby before Christmas and I've just been avoiding these kinds of videos since. But I still have 2 more so I thought maybe one like this would be good.
@@hazeltifiaeh6196 I'm sorry for your loss
I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know that profound grief. Hang on. You have other fur babies, they will help
You get through this ❤❤❤❤❤
My condolences on losing your baby. May it play in heaven with my lost babies forever and ever.
I lost my senior cat a month ago. I found him 4 years ago on a cold dark November night. He was somehow special in his own way, and I took it VERY hard and I still cry at his memories, and still telling him I love him after I lay down to sleep. So I know how painful it can be. I've lost multiple pets, cats and dogs, it never gets easier!
❤ My heart goes out to you
Big hugs ❤❤❤❤
Back in 2015 we got hit with an ice storm so bad we were without power for a week it got down to 17 degrees in the house, our tortie didn't shiver once but our tuxedo kitten obviously did so we kept her close to our bodies under a few jackets
17 degrees is not extreme, though. I’d say it’s pretty common during winter.
@Koreviking in Tennessee its extreme, we don't get snow very often let alone 18 inches which we got in a day and a half and under that snow was almost 2 inches of ice
@@blackrosespitfire Not really relevant to wether or not the cat is cold though, is it?
I have a cat who is 19 years old now. We have had him since he was 2.5 months old. I had a fixed thermostat on 25°C in our apartment, so he is not cold. Being an old cat, he sleeps for longer hours and eats less than before. But he is in good shape and health. Consider him as a happy cat.
thank you for making this video, I am always telling people about how cats prefer it warmer than we do. I often see people living the van life with cats. I worry about them being too cold, especially when I see them bundled up and obviously cold themselves.
My cat parks on a heat vent. Toasty Kitty needs captured and cat hugs to share that Toasty Kitty warmth!
I have two cats and two cat heating pads that I keep on 24/7 in winter, they are designed solely for animals with long cables that are chew resistant they don't overheat and it's safe to just leave them on. I have them both on different beds in the cat tree covered with furry blankets, I put them high up so there's no draughts, plus the cat tree is next to the radiator so there's extra warmth. They do snuggle on the bed with us at night as, well.
My boss (the cat) is weird. Last week I looked at the outdoor temperature. It was 10F. I was in my pajamas and it was a nice 74F inside. He has his own dedicated cat door. I saw him outside sitting on the concrete patio. He was out there for about an hour before he came back inside right before dawn. This week we have our first snowfall of the season (late, too little, but hey! At least we got a bit of snow!). I can see his paw prints on the patio. Weird. But he is currently asleep on the back of the loveseat. I can only assume that if he gets cold feet (literally) he will just come back inside.
We're expecting a delivery today, which also contains a 2 in 1 cat cave. They'll be cozy now that it's cold but most of the year it's hot here so we can collapse the cave into an uncovered bed. I love this idea and I hope they will too. We have enough nesting places for 2 cats and a dog but I'm sure the latter will appreciate having his bed back all to himself unless they want to cuddle with him 🤗
We live in Northern Michigan so every winter we leave out an electric blanket for our babies to sleep on at night. They love it!! We love Bambi Anne and Bumblebee Tuna.
I live in the Caribbean wheres its hot. Our cat sleeps with us in the bed in the air-conditioning.
My cat Tiger-J likes to be on my bed in the winter ❄️.
My cat has a cupboard above my bedroom door which is not real accessed by anyone but is cosy and warm.
Jeez, I really feel sorry for our cats when we had them because our house is big and drafty and never really got that hot in winter. And also stray cats must really suffer in winter. It's horrible out there currently, windy, rainy and cold
Weight loss from shivering is another sign your cat is too cold! You shouldn't be able to feel the vertebrae on your cat's back. The back of the skull shouldn't be too prominent either. You can't always base their body condition on what you can see because some cats grow a longer or thicker winter coat. Other causes of weight loss should be ruled out if it's not because of the cold. Cats will often need to eat more if temperatures are colder. A cat without access to proper shelter probably won't be able to maintain a good body condition no matter how much they eat.
This is why outdoor cats need access to an insulated windproof, waterproof shelter that isn't too much bigger than themselves. The winter shelter should contain a deep bed of straw, not blankets and not hay, for it to be dry and provide insulating value. Blankets and hay get wet and then freeze. There are many instructions online on how to make good winter shelters. Using a hardbody cooler is often ideal.
Allowing a house cat with poor body condition to stay outside in cold temperatures without access to food, water, and proper shelter could be considered negligent or abusive.
Strays are more likely to form close groups in the winter so they can sleep together for warmth. If they can access regular food and water supplies then their main priority will be a dry small space.
I abhor seeing feral cats with evidence of frostbite on their noses cos can pretty much guarantee it'll be worse on their toes 😢 but it's not like they'll let you bring them indoors
In a home sans heating (and it is uncomfortable!) I kept a pair of thick towels for my tigger's bedding and a low temp heating pad for him. He loved it and slept there day or night.
When I’m lying on the couch or in bed, my long, lean boy cat, Spike, lays on my chest and abdomen for warmth and snuggles. My girl cat, Emma, owns one corner of the bed. When she’s curled up super tight, I cover her with a lightweight fleece blanket; if she stays asleep, I know she was cold. Both fur kids like the baseboard heating vents in the kitchen, too.
I wonder if Emma sleeps on the corner of the bed bcos Spike is the dominant and has dibs on you (the heat provider). Some cats like to sleep together or share their human. Others can be quite territorial
I have a heating pad at my work desk to keep my toes warm during winter. Kahli the Destroyer likes to borrow a corner of it when it’s on. Otherwise, she’ll just steal whatever sweater of mine is on the couch and snuggle into it.
"Kahli the Destroyer" 😂 love it! We had one of those growing up. No insect screen was safe and he could shred a book in seconds
Don't leave a down jacket laying around. You will find that it is not yours anymore. The nicer the down, the more they like it.
I am a crafter so there are knitted/crocheted blankets and quilts in every room. My cat cycles through her sleeping spots every day: my bed, the back of the couch, the balcony in warm weather, and her cat tree. I made a baby blanket for our local Family Parenting Support group, and since Kitty was up on my lap every time I worked on it, I used the leftover yarn to make her own blanket which is on the cat tree.
I have several cats and generally keep my house around 68. This worked out great for everyone for years until I rehabilitated a feral cat a few years ago. He has much thinner skin and fur than the others so he gets cold in the winter. I had to buy him a sweater and that solved the problem. It threw me for a loop the first time he started shivering.
I do my best-blankets, thermal pads, etc., but after 7 years, my landlord refuses to give me any heat. It's 11 degrees out now, and 52 in here.
Isn’t that illegal?
I have the same situation in NYC...finally got myself a pair of space heaters, before I had my friend's three American Shorthairs over, from Thanksgiving morning until December 9th...put one in the living room, and one in the big bedroom...so we could eat, watch tv, and play in the living room, and nappie in the bedroom in comfort...only had one on at a time, in the room we were in, and the gang understood not to play with, or knock over the heaters...🐈🐈🐈
@@janewasson4845 that's illegal because it can cause death!! Call your local legal aid.
I don’t think that’s legal. I’d call Code Enforcement and see if it’s something they handle. If not, they can probably tell you who to call. Sounds like your landlord is a slumlord. Good luck!
@@janewasson4845 put your rent in escrow until he raises the temp!
My cats snooze in front of my LED fireplaces with heat. If they are really cold, they will "spoon" until heated up, then they snooze apart. Mostly, they lay at my feet near the heater 😊
Years ago, during a very cold spell in Cincinnati, our family cat adopted the "loaf" position, tucking her front paws underneath her. She did this often. But for a few days, she put her right front leg against the vent delivering heat from the natural gas "forced air" furnace down in the basement. I'm sorry we never thought of getting an insulated cat bed. But I'm not sure she would have used it.
Thank you for this. I know it's cold upstairs in my bedroom area where my cat is, but I didn't realize how much it's affecting my girl. Her paws have been cold, and she's been vocalizing and acting odd. I've just turned the heat up, and will be monitoring her more closely.
Hi there😻 I like to sleep w soft music playing from my tablet, which I keep on a pillow above my head. ( I'm hard of hearing). I usually wake up to find her laying on my pillow ON the nice, warm Tablet. I love her So much 😻😻😻
I know my fur baby is cold since I live in a very cold region, but when it gets cold, my fur baby will crawl under covers with me, and then during the day my fur baby will grab one of their sweaters for me to put on them, and lets me know when to take it off. Kitties are really smart.
If my fur baby gets to cold or hypothermic and blankets and sweaters don’t work, then I will call the veterinarian for an immediate appointment just in case of illness. I don’t want anything to happen to my fur baby. 😻💞
My fur babies (cats) are strictly indoor cats. My fur babies have cat beds and warm blankets all over my home.
My cats favorite spot is on top of the radiators
Our indoor kitties also have jammies for when it gets cold. We have neighborhood cats that some of us feed. We bought a heated water bowl for them to make sure there is always clean water during the winter.
We have 6 cats. They have multiple blankets and pillows as well as our bed. We keep them inside and thermostat at 65 to 68 degrees. They seem quite comfy and are so cute when they snooze in their favorite spots.
My two are thoroughly enjoying their heated cat bed!
My husband and I have 5 cats and they have more beds and than they know what do with. They have 7 enclosed (cave) beds, 6 open cat beds, a foldout princess foam chair (says princess on the backrest), a velvet cat sofa, 3 cat condos, 1 stair step scratcher and a ton of fluffy baby blankets and handmade quilts that I handed down to them (mainly for my tuxedo princess) that I had made for my Maine Coon. They also have our bed they can sleep in.
Guess you never been around barn cats in Kansas.
My cat has a bed I set up in my wardrobe in my bedroom. Currently she's snuggled up under the covers in my bed.
She sounds like she’s found the perfect spot to stay cozy! 😻
My cats favorite spot to keep warm: My bed! They love the electric throw i put on low for them. They LOVE it!
Very good video thank you very much.😺🐾🐾💖☃️❄️🌨️
My Baby Oreo sleeps with me. He is 1 yr old now. I have his bed on the foot of my bed. Hes very warm or he will sleep on my chest❤ He is part of my family & I love him so much!!!
My kitty years ago found herself sheltering from an ice storm under my car. I tried to call her in, to no avail. Then I called, "Night-Night.". I saw the instant recognition in her eyes of the signal for our bedtime snuggle routine. With a look that said "damn the torpedoes," she dashed indoors, and under the covers. I wrapped her up and rubbed her down till she was comfy, warm, and purring again.
Oh my gosh, the cuteness. My cat would lay on the windowsill in the sun.
I could not tell if my cat was lethargic. She is a sleeping beauty. She sleeps 16-20 hrs a day. Lol.
Her comfort cave is behind the sofa on a cushion under the radiator.
Or on the back of a chair that hangs over the radiator.
I have heated areas for my feral cats. They love it.
I had a cat that liked to go under the heated blanket which was far too hot with a heavy blanket on top of the heated one. One morning her eyes were completely clouded. Vet said she was overheated and is temporarily blind so try to never let her get overheated again because she's susceptible now. Happened once more on an extremely hot day while in her cat carrier. The blindness lasted about 3 days each time
Every cat I have has their own heat pad. I also have a cooling pad for hot days, but I live in Northern Britain so it doesn't get used anything like as much.
I got a heated bed on sale at Petco just after Christmas and my cat has absolutely loved it! This is our first winter in an actual house instead of an apartment, and she's a senior cat with arthritis, so I definitely can see how navigating the stairs has become an issue. The heated bed is on the same floor as her food and litter so she has a cozy warm place to snuggle and sleep that's close to her other space.
Anyone who leaves their cat out in the cold weather is a monster and shouldn't own pets.
It’s so sad. 😿
I stayed in an Airbnb in Colorado in the winter where the cat asked to be let out multiple times a day. She loved being outside and it was kind of hard to deny her this, she’d meow profusely.
I agree-pets rely on us for their safety and comfort, especially in extreme weather. Keeping them warm and cared for is so important.
A stray cat started sleeping on our front porch chair. We live in the country and no one near us claims her. She is very affectionate, but won't survive the winter due to cold and coyotes. I can't bring her in the house because she is paranoid of the dog and vice versa. She does love my heated shop, so she lives in 50 degree winters. She goes out in mornings for a while but comes back after a few hours. I hope 50 degrees accommodates her because propane is spendy.
You forgot the feral cats.
Thank you for this valuable information. So many don't realize this 👍
I'm glad it was helpful! 😺
My Edward sleeps very near me on the bed, sometimes under the covers, which is very cosy, and lovely.
Thank you for this important information!
I'm so glad it's helping people keep their furry friends warm and cozy! 😻
A warm room with warm and soft bed is perfect compromise during colder winter days and nights
My cat is so weird. I knew it! His thing right now is to be outside when it's bitter cold. He'll tromp through the snow for an hour or so, come back in and thaw out, then go back. He has access to a door, and keeping him inside is unbearable for all of us, but at night he sleeps on us all.
Omg - I thought that I had the only cat like that! It's like he's trying to be a tough guy outside - but he's right there when I go to bed, all purring and drooly 😅😅.
Our tuxedo is currently out in the 40 degrees and rain. He enjoys hunting and climbing trees. He will ask to come in later. The cold definitely doesn’t bother him.
Great information. My cat is seems to be cold a lot as he does just as you mentioned here in your video. Early in the morning, he meows the crap out of us and we open the door. What does he do? He jumps in the bed with us, curls up and sleeps next to us.
My Ace has too warming mats. I also have a space heater he loves to sleep near to. His favorite place to sleep is on top of my daughter's warm down comforter. He also loves to snooze in sunny spots., especially on top of my daughter's dresser that's right in front of the window were he gets plenty of sunlight and warmth.
I have a few ”bag-like” fleece beds for my cats, and every mornig and evening I heat their bed warmers (microwaveable flat round things, made for pets, SnuggleSafe - mine are several years old, I don’t know if they still sell them) that stay warm around 8 hours when wrapped in fabric and put under their beds.
It’s good to have the A/C or heat on to keep your cat alive while you’re gone
I like the top of the fridge!
The cat should be comfortable in my bedroom, it tends to be warmer than the rest of the house.
My friend has an outdoor cat and during the winter it gets as cold as -30 degrees F at night. As the cat is getting older, it began coming into the house and staying the night, until somebody put a mirror next to where it slept. It saw itself and bolted and hasn't been in the house since. I've often wondered about that cat, how it survives the winter nights, but it does.
The ferals my sister had burrowed a hole under the porch next to the foundation. Despite her allergies, my sister eventually made them a bed in her attached garage.
I have a bunch of cats, including several ferals. Even the FERALS are loving it living inside, including Miss Midnight the Spoilt Feral Queen of the Cat Tree, who I never thought would ever enjoy being inside. But, almost 5 years now she has lived inside exclusively and has never even ASKED to go outside at all!
Wonderful video, thank you! Very informative and helpful, well-presented.
I'm so glad you found it helpful! 😻
My cat loves his cat tree and stand or next to me ❤
My cat is fine thank god. I’m so paranoid when I see videos like these on TH-cam because immediately think what if something is wrong with my baby. But fortunately she’s happy and active as possible.
My Batista has a big padded office chair in my room next to the radiator he uses after being outside. He uses his fleecy blanket on top of my bed during spring/summer.
Another sign could be if it literally meows “I’m cold.”
MOL (meow out loud)! 😹
I love that cat video 😂
For heat, consider a SnuggleSafe microwavable heat pad. It's supposed to retain heat for up to 10 hours.
I often find my cat hunkered down in front of the refrigerator, enjoying the heat that comes from underneath the fridge.
My cat likes taking over my bed after she is brushed and fed. She tunnels under the fleece blankets and can stay there for hours while I'm gone to work.
My cats love their he electric blankets in the winter. In the sumner they absndon them for sun on the patio.
My 4 furfolk have their own 5 heaty pads! One extra so they can shift around! ❤
There is some tricks i found over the year's that cats love. You can get a larger storage tote one that is a bit larger then your cat. Cut a hole in one side place the tote over a heat register this makes a nice warm box they can crawl into when he wants heat. My large male cat is a bit more spoiled i have made him his own house with a huge storage box mounted the box on basement ceiling he can get in it about halfway up the basement steps i made a step for him to go right into his home off thw basement steps. I installed a heat vent into the6 box so its fully heated and the whole exterior is fully insulated 4 inches.. Needless to say my cats love me 😜😁 my females seem to like an electric blanket also when they are cold
I live in Minnesota I've seen temps here 65 below at times can happen staying warm can be tough but the old homemade storage tote over a heat register is simple and very effective place a thick blanket inside for them once done
My cats love snuggling in their cozy beds which are next to the gas fireplace, and will sometimes reach their paws out towards it.
My rule of thumb for my older short haired tuxedo cat was no more than 20 mins outside when temps dipped below 14C (57f) ,after that i'd bring him in to warm up. My young (2yrs) long haired female seems comfortable at quite low temps as long as there's not much wind. Her coat is very thick, similar to a Siberian cat , and she's always moving around if she's outside. Even so I check on her frequently in cold weather to see if she wants to come back indoors. Current favoured sleep spots include a folded fleece blanket on top of a tall cupboard, her hammock next to the living room heater and behind the rolled up summer duvet in another cupboard.
My cat Moses' favorite place to find warmth is under our blankets next to both my mom and me and especially when we have our heating blanket on as well
I bouight a heavy wool blanket for my bed and my cats immediately adopted it. Most winter mornings I'll find both cats and the dog in a pile on one of the AC vents near their food bowls so I'm not worried about any of them being cold.
Both of my cats like temps between 65 and 70 F. Anything higher, they definitely do not like. This past summer, when it got up to 72-75 F in my flat, I had to buy them a fan.
Yep. If the house is 80, the cats will be hogging the fan
