I’ve tried everything :/ my adapters are working I have a strong feeling and so are the mics I just bought but all I get is static sound, nothing overrides it. Idk what the problem is so it has to be the gopro. I even can charge the gopro with the cable but sound just doesn’t wanna work, I received 2 of those 50 dollar ones and I know they work cuz I get a charge from it too but iI am clueless on this. Can I still contact gopro about this problem and see if they can fix it?

So the microphone in you used had the TRS Jack? I have GoPro session 5 and hero 6 also GoPro mic adaptor. When I tried connecting the collar mic to the mic adaptor it was not able to capture my audio. So I browsed the GoPro website and saw that the microphone Jack should be of TRS so that it can capture the audio perfectly. The collar microphone which I have has the trrs Jack. Please throw some light on this particular topic. Thanks.

I prefer using the external mic. Helps reduce wind noise and handling noise, and makes it a more direct sound. Without a mic, it's a much wider, more natural sound, but you get a lot of external ambient noise that you may not want.

Hi. Thankyou for the review. Im new to Gopro, but have got myself a gopro hero 5 along with a Feiyu G5 gimbal. Unfortunately, theres audio issues with the build in mic when using with a gimbal. But since this gopro audio adapter is relatively big/heavy, it would definitely affect the gimbal's motors, so I was hoping to attach the audio adapter to the gimbal handle itself, but this would require the adapter to be connected to the gopro for an extension cable. Do you know if the adapter still works if it was connected via some sort of usb-c extension cable to the gopro? Many thanks

Hello, a question please. I dabble with video recording a bit, but not an expert in any way. I never used my GoPro 5 hero black with a MIC, just camera's mikes; and whatever sound was recorded on the videos came out ok. Meaning I heard the sound on both ears using my headphones or earbuds (I use them a lot, mainly to avoid bothering other people). I never even questioned if the sound was stereo or mono because it was not important to me. What was important is that I heard the videos on BOTH channels. Yesterday for the FIRST time I used a little lapel mic with the $50 adapter that allows you to record using a mike. But the sound that came out only sounds on ONE channel / ear, and that really bothers me. Also when editing the clips using Vegas Pro 16, the same thing, I can only hear sound on one channel. You would think Vegas Pro should be able to split the "one channel sound" so that I could hear it on both channels, and it probably can! but I am just not familiar with this issue and how to fixit using VP16 if there is a way.
Meanwhile, not the end of the world, but I was wondering if you have an idea of what I am talking about? and if so, how could I fix the problem?
    TIA E.M.

    Hi Jordan,
    Quick question for you.
In the beginning of the video, when you are inside, you are super clear and the sound is great as well.
I am looking to get either a gopro 5 Hero or something else, but I kind of do not want to walk around with a dslr with a shotgun mic if I don’t have to, but the gopro sound is not great either.
What camera and mic are you using at the beginning of the video?
    Ozcan

Would a USB-C extension cable with this still allow the go pro adapter to work?
I'm thinking of making a custom handle and mounting the adapter inside the handle, at least that's the plan.
Or ill just end up getting a zoom H1 and externally get my audio.

What would you recommend for in-helmet audio? I am using a Sony AS20 with lapel mic and when I get up to highway speeds, the audio is very bad. I have tried the standard foam mic cover and have tried a deadcat, but if you go over some of my videos, you will see what I mean by bad audio at highway speeds.
