    We have the JBL system in our older HIghlander. It's good enough to keep me from spending thousands on a new system but it's not great. Sound deadening is the key. Spend some time and a couple hundred bucks sound deadening the doors, rear hatch, dash, trunk lid and floor. It's well worth it.

    i've been driving a 2012 camry for a couple years now and i like the car, nice suspension, space, power isn't too bad, mileage is decent enough considering the size... but... the audio system!??!? OH MY GAWWWWDDDDUHHHHHHH listen to that bass!!! it's like MISSING A WHOLE OCTAVE, boomy, and just... oh god the treble... i could go on... i'm running an external lithium-powered headphone amp in the signal just to make it loud enough. some soft stuff? black sabbath or i wanna say jimmy buffet... you gotta put it up to like 56 (out of 64) (with the headphone amp up 65%!!!) just to be able to hear it at 40mph!

    Speakers wise 2015 > 2023
    Camry 2023 speakers are so terrible compared to 2015.
    one song the bass/mid/treble is good next one it sounds terrible you always have to adjust the sound depending on the song

      my car did not come with with factory JBL so i replaced all factory audio speakers with JBL and even added a 12 inch JBLsub in my rear deck, and yes i figured out the rattling ,, { well in my car ) i did use sound deadening on top and some on the lower part of the deck , also wrapped the seat belt cups with foam weather striping, but the main thing was the rear deck panel is real thin metal, so i did use some metal strips on the underside to help brace the rear deck panel for the better part i have little to no rattles in the rear deck now

    • @Powersproductions130

      A solution to this is to put foam in between the rear window and the deck. Something they should have done from the factory. lol

    Have a 2019 Camry XSE with the JBL “premium sound system” and my rear speakers just died. My 3/36 warranty has expired so replacements at the dealer, $1000.00 usd. Sounds Crazy, it is. Don’t be fooled by the JBL badge on this system. These factory JBL speakers are cheap. Upgrading to aftermarket replacements. Speakers + mounting hardware, front and rear doors, $150.00

    • @AndreNguyen7
      @AndreNguyen7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you have the JBL upgrade or just stock? I'm considering getting the stock system option then get a shop to add a bit of bass since the upgrade from Toyota is so expensive. From most of the reviewers I've read and seen the cost for what you get isn't as good as getting a bass upgrade elsewhere.

    • @kristenanderson8315
      @kristenanderson8315 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AndreNguyen7 I believe I have the upgrade but it came with the model I bought. My car is currently back at Toyota because of the noise the speaker was making and they sent me home with a rental Camry with stock speakers. I’d rather have these stock speakers over the nosies coming from the upgraded ones

      I have the same problem here. I’ve wanted an xle or xse with Jbl sound system and now that I got it I kinda regret getting one with jbl because the door panel and subwoofer in the back rattles almost on all of the songs i play. Did they anything about the noises you had? Because I’m also about to bring mine to Toyota and tell them about it.

    5 years ago in your 2108 review, provided a musical demonstration of the JBL audio system in the 2018 Camry and gave it a grade of "B - ". What is the difference now with an upgraded Infotainment system and possible JBL upgraded to their Amplifier that sits under the driver's seat? In this video for 2023 you gave it a "B". Personally, Mid-Range is the focus for my listening since I dislike thumping Bass. My 2009 Hyundai Sonata GSL 3.3L V6 with 6 speakers delivers better audio with its factory stereo system than Toyota's JBL and Honda's Bose. We're paying for the Brand Name and not getting a real Premium Sound system.

  • @JohnEboyee
    @JohnEboyee ปีที่แล้ว +2

    JBL really dropped the ball on this setup. The tweeters are tinny sounding and the front center stage is literally dead front center with a narrow band rather than directed toward the driver or passenger seats evenly. The rear seat door speakers add a strangely balanced 'surround sound' to the cabin when fading slightly rear and the free air sub provides "sub bass" tones that sound no better than a decent aftermarket 6x9. Not to mention the rear deck rattle out the box at specific hz absolutely kills the entire listening experience. If Toyota integrated a simple 3 band parametric equalizer and sub control into the HU, then tightened up the rear deck/cover with more dampening instead of weird foam, I think this could have solved a lot of the issues, but their aim was a flat response and lack of quality control that just didn't make it. AND to top it all off, the crossovers are set in stone, so upgrading to aftermarket would add little benefit without introducing a standalone DSP to override the HU factory settings. Not to mention that the front speaker and sub wiring has to be tapped in to to get full range control with an aftermarket sub. For the price of the upgrade, the entire system makes no sense to me and Toyota and/or JBL provides zero useful specs for the installed amp. Very disappointing.

      I would be surprised if a JBL engineer even saw these speakers in real life before putting the signature on the marketing deal. Most car manufacturers use their own speakers or 3rd party ones and just license out the name for advertisement.

    • @comebackszn57
      @comebackszn57 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      stage front audio should be center right above your dashboard, the average customer has no clue what parametric is for it to be baked in oem.
      Also you didn't need Dampening for panel resonance, you need to decouple, which is why they used foam. but really you need to decouple the pillar And the panel leading to the boot if the car.

    • @JohnEboyee
      @JohnEboyee 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@comebackszn57 I added sound deadening to the thinner parts of the rear deck and had to insulate the plastic seatbelt trim covers and deck cover grille, then fashion a wedge between the C pillars and rear deck cover at the pillar's edges, out of sight, which helped. But there's still some resonance at certain times, during certain frequencies, at certain volumes, although never consistent. The headliner clips and a specific edge at the moon roof needs work too. I also had to disassemble the front passenger's side window control cover and methodically dampen that because the front door full range started buzzing it. The assembly (or design?) on this thing is unbelievable. What do you mean by decouple and how could I approach that?

    I got the 2023 Camry XLE Hybrid yesterday with JBL and love the audio system. However, when I connect Android Auto and try to use volume buttons on the steering wheel or car's head to control the volume on TH-cam, they activate Poweramp on my phone. This is so annoying! Basically, I cannot control the volume on any other player because Poweramp would turn on. Is there any way to disable that from happening? I never had this issue on the 2017 Accord Hybrid.

      Depends on the city. In metro Seattle people generally drive safe; hardly change lanes and stay at or under speed limit. I travelled to metro LA recently and drivers there drive all sorts of ways. Defensive driving is required in USA regardless for safety reasons. Meaning Change lanes behind the passing car not in front of passing car.
