it simply comes down to the fact that Jerry did not want to cede any power to Belichick, Harbaugh, or any other high profile coach available. He's clearly not as serious about winning championships anymore if he's concerning himself with McCarthy's winning percentage in the regular season. They will be back here again a year from now and we'll be having this same exact conversation for like the 30th year in a row.

The Dolphins beat the Cowboys (22 - 19) on a last second, 30-yard FG. The game’s outcome was a bit controversial because of a penalty called on Micah Parsons that many thought should not have been called a penalty. It allowed a Dolphins’ drive to persist, which led to another Dolphins’ score, and ended up seeming to be the difference in the game.

I think the entire reasoning is and has always been "Jerry wants the lions share of credit".
Jerry DIDNT get the "lions share" of the credit back during the 90s run, so he fired Jimmy Johnson. And has since basically only hired B-level coaches (minus Parcels).
Had he hired Belicheck or Harbaugh, and they won SB, it would be same as the 90s: Belicheck/Harbaugh would get the lions share of the credit and that hurts Jerry's feelingz.

There were seasons that Dallas had the least number of starting players from the draft in the whole league. Not until recently (last 5 years or so) that the drafting has significantly improved (Parsons, Diggs, Lamb, Bland). Jerry has turned the draft over to his son, Steven.

I know steelers roster has been weaker the last few years but people forget how good that offense was in '16-'18, they scored at will. Team completely collapsed in '17 & '18 and havent been relevant since (besides '20 but that was an even bigger collapse), but people are baffled when some fans expect better than "the standard"

I've never seen so much time given to a team that hasn't produced anything for decades - not anything beyond the regular season. When they lose, it's never because the other team was really good. It is because the Cowboys played badly.
