Smart getting the next size up. I had a mod that was full of lead filings.

I own a lot of 0db moderators. What would you say has the most sound suppression? I love my 0db moderators, but I'm looking for something to quiet my .30 western sidewinder compact s. Currently, it has a 0db magnum moderator, but it is still very loud to where it leaves your ears ringing. I was wondering if the donnyfl yokozuna would be better.

Same thing. UNF just indicates fine thread. 1/2 UNF = 1/2-20.

It's a shame that you shoot without ammunition and unfortunately we can't see the difference with and without a sound moderator.

I agree, it's a good idea to go a size up on moderators. Great video.

if there are sizes ... just follow it ! there is no reason to go up a size ... unless you have a bad quality riffle ....
Moreover if you fit the size of your pellet/Slugs to the size of the moderator, you will have a less louder shoot

For some ridiculous reason, suppressors are illegal in Canada. Even the Crosman "Quiet Fire" plastic baffle kit on their beak-barrels is illegal. In fact, it's illegal to make a moderator for an airgun, even if it's not a firearm! A 'toy' airgun (< 500fps) isn't even allowed a homemade suppressor. Of course, gangs in Toronto are 3D printing whatever they want & getting probation when caught, but a hobbyist wants to be polite to his neighbors? Out come the fangs.
Until Canada gets better leadership (and definitely not Poilievre), I'm stuck with looking for ways to get the "naturally" quietest airguns. A nitro-piston isn't loud if it's subsonic, so it's kind of where I'm stuck on.
I saw a review recently with a Gamo Swarm Magnum vs a Crosman something or other with a "QuietFire' insert, and the Gamo was reliably 275fps faster yet 4dB quieter, no matter what kind of pellet was being shot (.22 cal) - and it didn't have a plastic suppressor on it. So it looks like Gamo have found a way to make their gas-piston break barrels 'better'.
Anyone with suggestions (other than "making my own suppressor which is allegedly quite simple" since I'd never dare break that law) on how to keep an airgun quiet without suppression? Is most of the noise in a break-barrel released from the breech, or the muzzle? What about basement plinking? Acoustic foam under the door? Anything that deflects noise that isn't attached to the rifle?

If you're in the USA, airguns and airgun moderators are not federally regulated. Check your states laws if you're in a commie state!

I wish somebody would test the db with a loaded gun from say, 50' away. Maybe 25' away. Then I can hear what the neighbors would be hearing. Your dryfire test is basically worthless imo.

We’ve done those tests on the GTA channel. We’ve stopped doing DB tests as they are just too unreliable. I’d rather provide subjective feedback vs bad data.
