I cannot comment on the wifi7 hub but crossing from the bt homehub 2 to the ee wifi 6 hub everything got worse so much so much so i have to reset the hub every few days just yo keep the landline phone working which we never did with the smart hub 2
@xtreme1913 all depends on the size of your property, second box is just really an extender, although as I mentioned in another comment, I placed the second box in my sons room, he has a Xbox Series X and the WiFi on that is capped to about 250mbps, when he connects to the extender via ethernet cable he gets the full Internet apeed
Hi mate my internet is dreadful like 30mbps if I get this I have really good 5g coverage I get like 150 on my phone if I get this will it be good for my Xbox online on 5g?
Can I ask please how you got them to send out the pro hub , I am on the 1.6gbp busiest home package and am trying to get upgrade to the new router but it’s like getting blood from a stone . Thanks for any advice.
@johndukes869 saw a few forums where people were having the same issue, their customer service just didn't budge giving them the new one, I had no hassle getting this new hub sent out even though I only had broadband with them for a couple of months, but I do have to pay a little bit extra every month for it. They also told me on the phone that when/if the 1.6gb becomes available that the new hub would be part of the package, so if I had stayed on my old package and waited I could have got that for free although I'd be paying extra for the 1.6gb. I'd keep at it, tell them you know of people who have got the new hub, lots mentioning it on their own forums. The only thing that may have helped for me is that I've been an EE customer for what seems like forever for my mobile, our household actually has 3 phones with them.
You should have got it in your pack if not call them I know you prob have already, but it is part of your package. Assuming they are messing you around you can connect any other mesh to the hub for example Decco TP link personally I do not use any of EE's kit but if I did, I would use a Decco mesh to connect to the EE router especially as Blck Friday is on the way You should have gotten this email below Full Fibre Busiest Home Bundle Your broadband equipment As part of your package, we'll send you: Smart Hub Pro Smart Wi-Fi Pro device The following benefits are included as part of your package: Smart Hub Pro Smart Wi-Fi Pro Wi-Fi Enhancer
I'llbe changing from Sky Fibre to this with the wifi7 hub, I want the wifi7 hub upstairs, does it have to connect via ethernet or is it wireless? I don't have an Internet socket upstairs to plug It into.
@vanessaslater1760 the smart wifi hub pro that you will use upstairs is wireless and will expand your WiFi range, you can then hook things up to this additional hub such as an Xbox series X which is excellent, that's normally capped at 250mb download speed over WiFi but as it would then be connected by ethernet you get the full speed that the additional hub is receiving 👍
If you are changing from Sky Fibre who are either EE or City Fibre you will prob get the fibre installed in your home, they might try not to do this if it's not a change from BT-EE. You can choose to have the main socket (ONT) anywhere in your house that will be where the router will connect then you can use the extension anywhere you want it will connect wirelessly or can be connected by cable (wired). It's always best to buy a unmanaged switch to give you 4 or more extra ports. You can then connect as many other wifi 7 extenders to your mesh. For example, you could buy a mesh pack from any other supplier like TP-Link (Decco) and have many units wirelessly connected to your mesh or wired connection for full speed
What cat LAN cable do they give with wifi pro unit? Also how much you paying for it? They want £63 I think it is for this and 900mb package (not tried to argue price yet with BT / EE but think we waiting to see if any deals next month - Black Friday as our contract ended Sunday just gone and decide then).
@thegentlemanbadboy578 sorry about the length of time to reply, only just back from work. Just checked the cable and it's a CAT 5E cable that comes supplied with the new Smart Hub Pro. With regards to price, I'm paying £58 for their all rounder package which is 900mbps download and 110mbps upload, this includes the new Smart Hub Pro and the additional Smart WiFi Pro, you'll have seen from the video though that I get closer to download speeds on 930mbps.. We have a few mobile phones with EE and been long time customers so I'm not sure if we are getting some sort of discount on the broadband because of that, would check what the prove is but their website is currently down 🤣. With regards to the mobile phones a couple of them had limited data, because we now have broadband with EE those phones were upgraded to have unlimited data and my sons sim only contract ended up a little cheaper too so save some money there.
Its Cat 5e which at short distance will be able to easily handle that speed At longer lengths you would need to buy a Cat 6-8 I personally use cat 8 throughout my house
Great video Scot, that very interesting. I really need to upgrade my options as I have gigabyte from Virgin my WiFi maxes out at 500mbps. You may have given me the kick up the arse that I require.
@StuTech Thanks Stu, this is the first I've had any decent speed on the Internet for a long long time, Virgin has never been routed anywhere we have stayed over the last 3 houses we have stayed in. Loving the speeds I'm getting just now, there is an option to go to 1gbps which is kinda pointless for me to go for as I'm not far off it but I believe BT are going to make 1.6gbs available at some point 😲
@@BrisyTechBytes I am on 1.6 EE if you want to upgrade it is not straight forward now. EE only offer 1.6 to new customers you have to as I did get them to cancel and make you a new account but this is full of pifalls as they will probably charge you about £600 cancelllation fee which you will eventually get back after you fight them.
The routers can be limited by firmware regardless of their potential so if you are getting speeds well below your 1 gig it could be that Virgin limits the potential of its devices this is easy to check if you have the ability or loan of someone else's 3rd party router although Virgin as far as I am aware does not use an ONT therefore it would not be possible to use many of the third party routers out there as they use ethernet cabling. For example, the EE/BT routers the 6e ones would have been able to handle 1.6 GIG if they were not hard coded to limit downloads to one gig or below. The new Wi-Fi 7 routers from EE has 2.5 gig ports to accommodate speeds above 1 gig ie 1.6 My own router accommodates 10 gig
@uwhat1 I wouldn't be upgrading to 1.6, no need for it to be honest as the speeds we are getting are a huge upgrade and more than enough for our household, plus on top of that avoiding the extra cost, from what I can remember at the time of ordering it was a fair jump in price. Totally appreciate though that it may suit some people if they perhaps run a business from home or something like that.

@xtreme1913 yeah, very easy to do with the WPS button on both boxes...the app also runs through the instructions on how to pair them 👍
