12:10 The House Hippo PSA is the absolute perfect example of a PSA backfiring. It's a huge running gag among Canadians who watched it in its heyday that literally none of us paid attention to the message at the end (think critically about the media you consume) and instead started plotting how to catch our own house hippos lmao
Kids are really that stupid. But so are adults. Remember when grown adults that were legally allowed to vote firmly believed horse paste would cure covid because social media? Humans are morons.
Eh, the most disturbing is the one that I saw on MTV about 20 years ago - it scarred me a bit. The PSA is about a young guy who gets on a plane and takes a seat, a woman is sitting in front of him and is reading a book. He smiles and wants to start a conversation but the girl puts a finger to her mouth to silence him up and points up to the older guy that is sleeping next to her. When young guy looks back at her, she turns her book to him with no text except for a huge-ass HELP ME written on it. Now bear with me, here comes the creepest part: woman opens her mouth wide, same with eyes and her hair slips off so that she looks like a mannequin/sex doll, the camera zooms out to show that the plane is full of mannequin dolls like her, then it cuts to black with some domestic abuse info. Wanted to face my fear and watch it on youtube but no luck in finding it for now.

I actually used the Top Chef one from Canada during a WHS meeting at our work. We aren’t a restaurant, but I thought it gave a message of how a moment’s inattention can lead to an accident.
It's not really scary per say but the MADD PSA Emily got me every time. Just the crying baby... I grew up with the CCA PSAs in Canada...I hated 'Don't you put it in your mouth"
I know I'm late to the party (found your channel yesterday thanks to YT algorithm), but thank you for mentioning the Embryo one. I'm from Czech Republic and seeing one of our PSAs in any creator's video is always great! Also, my country kinda ripped off the DoE with the "Better think or you'll pay" campaign (dunno the direct translation, the original name is Nemyslíš, zaplatíš) from 2008. I think thanks to seeing this as a kid (the PSAs were non-stop in TV at that time) I was left in shock along with being really scared (I was 7 back then), but also my curiosity for PSAs began and I found Think!, Vince & Larry and TAC here on YT. So thanks for a great video, it's great to have another PSA dedicated creator in my subscriptions :)
I found a video that showed more material about the "AIDS is a mass murderer" campaign. They had posters that looked like box art for pr0n featuring figures like Hitler and Stalin.
I wanna know if this is a Mandela Effect or not; So remember how you mentioned the MTV ad campaigns? well i’m from the US and i DO remember them releasing some PSAs about human trafficking around the mid 2000s, does anyone else? i think they’ve made some bullying ones and date violence as well but i don’t remember them as vividly as the human trafficking ones
I wasn’t even born when this PSA Came out, but it was the Top Chef PSA by WSIB. I came across it from a scary childhood memories video and the woman says she’s going to get married but can’t because she’s about to be in a horrible accident, and then BAM! Hot water falls on her face and she starts screaming her lungs out, that traumatized me, this is why I’m choosing to be a pet groomer, I’m too afraid of hot stuff, unless it’s food you can eat. Because when I was little I was going to a friend’s birthday party and my mom was ironing and I touched the iron and I burnt my hand.
What I love about PSA icebergs is that most of them are available to find easily especially in TH-cam But usually the ones that's really hard to find are the ones very disturbing, for example there's an ad in Japan where a real dog gets into a gas chamber and gets gassed, the message being not to throw away your dogs. Pretty hard to find because it's deleted on TH-cam for obvious reasons
I've actually seen A LOT of these. And kids channels were all I could watch for most of my time having cable. Pretty sure I even saw The Real Cost on PBS Kids.
God I really liked this iceberg, but I was having such a hard time hearing you? I couldn’t tell if it was MY volume or AirPods or your mic, but the volume was so quiet, I had to keep rewinding to go back and hear what you would say- Either way!! This was a great video, I look forward to more of your content!👍✨
Thanks heaps and honestly I have only heard one other person have this issue. When I edit the videos my audio isn't that quiet at all so I am not sure if it's just on your end or if it is an issue on my end. Will have to look into it :)
Hey - I actually made this iceberg a few months ago, I didn't expect someone to make a video about it. Thank you! I probably should have revised it at some point. What was I thinking putting "Don't You Put It In Your Mouth" on there? LOL
Also, something I thought was worth mentioning about "Sunday Lunch": The older guys are talking about potential gun crime/gang related activities. It's really hard to parse that through the accents and jargon, but you can hear "Anton flopped the shot" (i.e. "Anton" missed shots at someone) and - just before the mother shoots the child - "that's why I stay indoors _while the beef stays outside_ ". That's why the tagline is what it is, because the mom knew what was going on, but didn't snitch. And about the Italian anti-drug spots: "Se ti droghi, ti spegni" literally translates to "you do drugs, you switch off".
@@Zach.R I'm glad you do. And honestly the "Se ti droghi" campaign goes in my personal list of scary PSAs. I dunno what it is but it just freaks me out. Allegedly (and by that I mean according to PSA TH-camr Peachy) they scared the s#*t out of Italian kids. There were magazine ads and even billboards (although I couldn't find any billboards online).
@@patnewbie2177 that's understandable, I personally don't find it that scary but some things can scare people and not scare others. Honestly doesn't surprise me that it scared kids aha
Brazilian Partnership against drugs also has a similar PSA as "strings" from Partnership for a drug-free America, and let me tell you, that thing was a nightmare fuel for 7 years old me.
This is kinda irrelevant but the guy getting beat up/using at 8:09 is Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides when he was like 16. If I'm remembering correctly he went to California to see how he'd do in acting and booked the PSA. Ig I just find it interesting that two popular bands are connected to the MMP even if one is only indirectly.
Fact: In my country, theres an organization called "Luchemos por la Vida" (Let's fight for life in English), dedicated to traffic safety, which is infamous for its "Monstruo al Volante" PSA, which terrified many argentines during the 90's.
Creepy psa’s are so interesting to me. It’s like a small horror movie but about real life. Also I think scary psa’s are the most effective ones. It’s one thing being TOO scary like you don’t need blood and gore. But sometimes scaring a child is the best way to teach them not to do something. I know as a young American child, gun psa’s kept me from messing with them. And driving psa’s have made me conscious of unsafe driving. Also the ad at 7:45 is honestly hilarious. The cut is so funny.
Honestly, the Brazilian org against drugs had some great psas, the sad part is that the good ones were not translated (Meu nome é crack/cocaina, for example). I think one that you should check out is the earring one,(Brinco) which is way better and funnier than the other two. They also installed a banner near a famous building made of rice paper so bugs would consume it live for everyone to see, it was pretty smart.
You’re probably the first person who does psas who didn’t find the photograph drug one scary. Everyone else puts it high on their lists and I’m just not phased by it in the slightest.
I'm definitely going to hell when I die because I laugh my ass off at the 'Fruit-E-Bars' PSA where the lady trips and falls on the coffee table, mainly because the Internet Historian used it as an edited bit in his Fallout 76 video. Edit: The Farrow Islands PSA is pure propaganda by the by. Not only is the Farrow Islands in a region that cannot grow crops and mainly relies on fishing and whaling for food, but they actually have regulations that prevent overhunting or cruelty to the whales they're killing. I just really don't like how the PSA took an important way of life for these people and turned it into some kind of Captain Planet tier shitshow where the citizens gleefully celebrate the mass murder of these whales, when in reality that's not how it is at all.
'Matt hi yu' 😭😭 great video nonetheless, it's nice to be able to see the psas without having to actually watch them cos I get spooked easily by psas😭 I saw some fucked up ones as a kid and can't forget them

You listed a lot of my triggers, but uh.. Triggering myself is my replacement for SH at this point so here we go
but you did listed to ASMR triggers
Thank you heaps for the kind words and that's interesting, I don't think I have seen that PSA that copies doe
@@Zach.R here's a channel with all of them www.youtube.com/@nemysliszaplatis
I found a video that showed more material about the "AIDS is a mass murderer" campaign.
They had posters that looked like box art for pr0n featuring figures like Hitler and Stalin.
I wanna know if this is a Mandela Effect or not; So remember how you mentioned the MTV ad campaigns? well i’m from the US and i DO remember them releasing some PSAs about human trafficking around the mid 2000s, does anyone else? i think they’ve made some bullying ones and date violence as well but i don’t remember them as vividly as the human trafficking ones
They might have but honestly I don't know
I wasn’t even born when this PSA Came out, but it was the Top Chef PSA by WSIB.
What I love about PSA icebergs is that most of them are available to find easily especially in TH-cam
But usually the ones that's really hard to find are the ones very disturbing, for example there's an ad in Japan where a real dog gets into a gas chamber and gets gassed, the message being not to throw away your dogs. Pretty hard to find because it's deleted on TH-cam for obvious reasons
Yep I have that PSA and have talked about it a few times, it's disturbing
I've actually seen A LOT of these. And kids channels were all I could watch for most of my time having cable. Pretty sure I even saw The Real Cost on PBS Kids.
That's wild
@@Zach.R I know, right? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing after watching Between the Lions.
@@pundertalefan4391 honestly you probably are right as wild shit like that does happen down here in Australia as well
@@Zach.R Dang.
Damn I thought I was the only kid that had public service announcements on kids channels
I had the truth ads on nick
The "Monolith" one scared me when I was a kid.
Amazing video
Thank you!
PSA Archive: RSPCA in Australia on the other hand only has one PSA that tries to scare viewers
Me who knew Cruise exists: What PSA?
I was thinking of a different PSA but that counts too haha
@@Zach.R So 2.........
Hit & Cruise are the only 2.
I remember when I was about 8 I saw the terrie hall psa and I was so scared lmao.
14:35 Leaked footage of the new Katamari
i live in texas and i had no idea that txdot made psas. i thought all they made was like billboards lol
makes sense tho
The PSA with the kid with the Pokemon card. I knew I did'nt dream it. This was the reason why I wanted Pokemon cards.
I randomly saw Sunday Lunch in a PSA complication and it’s stayed with me all these years
Can you make more psa iceberg videos
49:01 What better way to make people not wanna do drugs than to make them think they're already on them.
God I really liked this iceberg, but I was having such a hard time hearing you? I couldn’t tell if it was MY volume or AirPods or your mic, but the volume was so quiet, I had to keep rewinding to go back and hear what you would say-
Either way!! This was a great video, I look forward to more of your content!👍✨
Thanks heaps and honestly I have only heard one other person have this issue. When I edit the videos my audio isn't that quiet at all so I am not sure if it's just on your end or if it is an issue on my end. Will have to look into it :)
africare’s shoeboxes was creepy i think because of the music. it’s called “atmosfear” if you wanna look it up.
Hey -
I actually made this iceberg a few months ago, I didn't expect someone to make a video about it. Thank you!
I probably should have revised it at some point. What was I thinking putting "Don't You Put It In Your Mouth" on there? LOL
Also, something I thought was worth mentioning about "Sunday Lunch":
The older guys are talking about potential gun crime/gang related activities.
I appreciate you making the iceberg, it was definitely interesting and I do agree with quite a lot of the iceberg!
Interesting about Sunday Lunch but also ended up finding that out after making this video about Se Ti Droghi, Ti Spengi
I remember hearing about this actually aha
Fact: In my country, theres an organization called "Luchemos por la Vida" (Let's fight for life in English), dedicated to traffic safety, which is infamous for its "Monstruo al Volante" PSA, which terrified many argentines during the 90's.
The ruined, partially missing faces of people who smoked scared the shit out of me as a kid
SSFC was formerly known as MaFMaD (Make a Film. Make a Difference). Yes Mum was under the MAFMAD name, MAFMAD was disbanded in 2013.
The shame on you psa a.k.a. the meme PSA
The Montana meth project one has Andy biersack from black veil brides In it, it was his first acting job if I remember correctly
Honestly, the Brazilian org against drugs had some great psas, the sad part is that the good ones were not translated (Meu nome é crack/cocaina, for example).
I think one that you should check out is the earring one,(Brinco) which is way better and funnier than the other two. They also installed a banner near a famous building made of rice paper so bugs would consume it live for everyone to see, it was pretty smart.
the mom falling into the table PSA will never not be hilarious😂
Great video!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
You’re probably the first person who does psas who didn’t find the photograph drug one scary. Everyone else puts it high on their lists and I’m just not phased by it in the slightest.
42:45 I'm pretty sure it's German? The website for the organisation is German.
Whoever greenlit/decided that that vwr one was a good idea must have been fired
You mean SWR? If so I agree
@@Zach.R I didn't realise I made a spelling error 😅
20:19 she died on my birthday, not the same year tho
The Evan and Back to school ones I have seen in Middle School (I literally freaking cried becuase of the back to school one)
Two sides of the same problem, when you drink alcohol excessively, the alcohol takes you
'Matt hi yu' 😭😭 great video nonetheless, it's nice to be able to see the psas without having to actually watch them cos I get spooked easily by psas😭 I saw some fucked up ones as a kid and can't forget them
I Actually Remember Listening to the Peter Pan One..And Boy Oh Boy is it CREEPY.
Btw It Was On TH-cam
34:58 the father was mad that dinner was pizza, not that he didn't get any pizza.
No no no no NO
The Respect For Animals PSA is scary than others.
"Mat hi eu" is the French/Quebecoise version of Matthew.
And where's "Q-beck"?
Theyre fucking harrowing but bloody hell do their job well.
