My father has MS. He's in the final stages of the disease. He's been eaten alive by this monster that we still know so little about. It's frustrating that he has the best care and despite his doctors doing everything they can, somehow it's still not enough. Every day I speak to people with relatives diagnosed with MS and yet they ask me, "what is it anyway?" If you're interested in learning about the disease, MS Society and MS Foundation are great places to start.
That's really upsetting that your father has it. I will definitely look into it more especially if I talk about the PSA again as I should have gone in depth about the disease as not many people know about it
my mum has recently been diagnosed with MS. really she should have been diagnosed 10 years ago when she first lost her sight and had symptoms of an episode but they refused to do a lumbar puncture. i completely understand your frustration because so many people, so many DOCTORS don’t listen to people when they say something is wrong. sending best wishes to you and your father ❤️
Always had a thing for PSA's, I spent a lot of time on tvark back in the day, downloading all the road safety ads I wouldn't have grown up with as they were before my time, but all much better than what the UK makes now. Keep it up man, subbed.
there were two PSAs that stopped me from watching tv past 9pm when i was a kid (in england for context). number 1 was this one about trains. a family were playing i spy in a forest while they were cycling around. they’re saying “trees?” “train?” and whatever other T words they could think of. then it ends with a young girl saying “is it track?” and she gets run over by a train. the second one was from think called lucky where this girl is sat on the side of the road bruised, bleeding and with broken bones. it goes in reverse correcting all her injuries from before she was hit by a speeding car. “if you hit me at 40mph there’s an 80% chance i’ll die. if you hit me at 30mph there’s an 80% chance i’ll live” will forever haunt me.
Yeah, I kinda knew for the "What's Missing In This Car?" PSA. I wasn't sure because I thought it might just be angling and you just can't see his seatbelt although that was the only idea I had.
Well yeah he is Australian but for a film to be considered an Australian film most of the cast and crew have to be Australian and it has to be made in Australia
Nobody: Some local small town media company: Everyday Beanie Babies kill at least 6 pet cockatoos when left unattended to eat whatever they can find. Put and end to sudden cockatoo colic, Beanie Babies are NOT for beaks.
A few more things: 1. For me, Scavengers didn't scare me because of the imagery. It was just a bunch of (although a bit disturbing) gore with maggots in it The thing that made it scary was the sounds! The screeching noise was very VERY disturbing, and made it really scary! 2. Once again, Countdown itself was extremely scary! One that made me wonder how it even aired on TV in the first place! So how on earth were they able to air MULTIPLE PSAs, one being similar to it!? 3. Honestly, the "Red Banana" Psa made me sad for multiple reasons. Not only did they explode a little girl, but the whole time I was there I was like "Where is this child's parents!?" They weren't in sight anywhere, and it made me have so many questions! Did they willingly let them do that? Were they forced into this? How are the parents feeling knowing that their daughter was killed!? Or is the girl an orphan??? So many questions! 4. One PSA that scared me that WASN'T on here was "Don't Give Fire a Chance" It, once again, followed a man having a nightmare. One of which involved different ways a house fire could start. Already pretty scary, but to add insult to injury, THERE'S A CRAZY LADY TALKING IN THE BACKGROUND OF IT! The addition of the crazy lady makes it seem like she was causing all these things to mentally torture the man in his dream as well as hurt him and his family! And the creepiest part is that her voice is heard even after he wakes up! Once again, I had questions! Was he still dreaming? Was it some kind of ghost? Is there a voice talking in the back of his mind?! WHAT IS SHE!?
I used to watch those CCA PSAs all the time. I always liked them because they weren't super scary, but just scary enough for me to pay attention and remember them
On the Sandy Hood Promise - Evan one, I actually did the same thing that our Protagonist did, writing on a desk to communicate with an anonymous student. 9th Grade Biology, on a particularly pencil-friendly table. I'm not gonna lie, I love the iceberg format. The way they are set up really helps refresh you with what you know, Then introduce new ones based on relevancy? (I believe that's the word I'm looking for.) To give you places to go next or see if your knowledge can help elsewhere.
I learned by watching you is a memeable classic. And so is 'this is your brain on drugs'. They're not the best at how they handled their message of drugs are bad but they're memorable in a funny way. The beautiful thing about the Samaritans scream PSA is it can simultaneously be about mental health awareness AND suicide prevention. At least from what I gather. Your mileage may vary. I love the Devil PSA. Mainly because the actor for the representation of Satan didn't look half bad in his prime. Yes I know this is a silly reason and misses the point of the anti smoking message. For the record, I first saw the PSA because it was in a compilation of anti smoking PSAs from around the world. Yes it was the compilation compiled by Hello I'm A Pizza. God I love the internet. It Never Stops was how I first heard the song Mercy Street. And I think it handled domestic violence very well. At least pizza wasn't involved. Monsters handles parental alcoholism in an interesting way. Not the best mind you. Hell, the film adaption of The Shining handles this better. But it's good for what it is.

I remember a PSA here in Scotland. I think it was to do with a drink driver. He was in an interview room and speaking to the audience (as if we're the police) about the events that lead to his arrest. I can't remember the name of it though.
There is one anti-drug PSA I never see discussed, its called Ten Little Indians. Essentially its a parody of the song of the same name but it shows the side effects of drug addiction. I think it was made in the early 70’s but I have no clue what organization made it
Ngl i feel like that one playhouse domestic abuse PSA could be more than just portraying a kids show-type thing; to me, the costumes the actors are wearing as well as the set they're on remind me a lot of dolls and dollhouses, i've watched the original PSA and the characters are shown calling each other "mommy" and "daddy" so i feel like it could also be a representation of how children who live in domestically abusive homes sometimes reinact what they see and hear with their toys. I've never seen anybody else point this out; kinda interesting, don'tcha think?
The Scottish anti-drug psa isn't scary, just REALLY uncanny. Especially the face he makes at the end. I don't get unnerved easily, but yeah, didn't enjoy the sight of that. Perhaps because of how unexpected it was.
It's dumb that this is age-restricted. Jack the Ripper victims photos and an entire short video about the Byford Dolphin incident are allowed, but not this?
I know but it still doesn't count as an Australian film as only the director is Australian and Hugh Jackman. Edit: did find out it was a joint effort between America and Australia, some work was done in Australia (the VFX) and everything else in America

I can't even look at it without getting scared! It's THAT scary! I don't know how they decided that this would be the thing they wanted to air on TV to send their message. Let alone how they even GOT it to air! And the worst part is not just looking at the deformed hands, because "Throwing Fireworks" had a deformed hand and it wasn't as bad! It's the color choice! It's like looking at these hands in a pool of blood without there being a pool of blood! And I know the cheering and stuff was meant to be oblivious to the injuries these people got, but it feels like they're cheering on the fact that they got hurt! And that's another thing! My father has MS. He's in the final stages of the disease. He's been eaten alive by this monster that we still know so little about. It's frustrating that he has the best care and despite his doctors doing everything they can, somehow it's still not enough.
Every day I speak to people with relatives diagnosed with MS and yet they ask me, "what is it anyway?"
If you're interested in learning about the disease, MS Society and MS Foundation are great places to start.
That's really upsetting that your father has it. I will definitely look into it more especially if I talk about the PSA again as I should have gone in depth about the disease as not many people know about it
@@Zach.R I appreciate you as well as your work, PSA Archive. Looking forward to your future projects. ✌️
@@star7communicator thanks heaps! I really appreciate it! :)
my mum has recently been diagnosed with MS. really she should have been diagnosed 10 years ago when she first lost her sight and had symptoms of an episode but they refused to do a lumbar puncture. i completely understand your frustration because so many people, so many DOCTORS don’t listen to people when they say something is wrong. sending best wishes to you and your father ❤️
@@lucywing8490 that is absolutely horrible, it's just horrible that someone has to go through that
Fantastic. I so appreciate what you're doing, please keep making stuff like this!

damn, can u say that to me? hahaha that would be funny
Always had a thing for PSA's, I spent a lot of time on tvark back in the day, downloading all the road safety ads I wouldn't have grown up with as they were before my time, but all much better than what the UK makes now. Keep it up man, subbed.
Thank you!
there were two PSAs that stopped me from watching tv past 9pm when i was a kid (in england for context). number 1 was this one about trains. a family were playing i spy in a forest while they were cycling around. they’re saying “trees?” “train?” and whatever other T words they could think of. then it ends with a young girl saying “is it track?” and she gets run over by a train. the second one was from think called lucky where this girl is sat on the side of the road bruised, bleeding and with broken bones. it goes in reverse correcting all her injuries from before she was hit by a speeding car.
Actually, George Miller (the director of Happy Feet) is Australian, so technically Happy Feet is an Australian movie lol
Well yeah he is Australian but for a film to be considered an Australian film most of the cast and crew have to be Australian and it has to be made in Australia
But at least we can all agree that the Mad Max films are awesome
Nobody:
Some local small town media company: Everyday Beanie Babies kill at least 6 pet cockatoos when left unattended to eat whatever they can find. Put and end to sudden cockatoo colic, Beanie Babies are NOT for beaks.
Little known fact: Charlie the cat from the Charlie Says PSA's is voiced by Kenny Everett, who was a famous comedian and DJ here in the U.K.
A few more things:
1. For me, Scavengers didn't scare me because of the imagery. It was just a bunch of (although a bit disturbing) gore with maggots in it
The thing that made it scary was the sounds!
I always liked them because they weren't super scary, but just scary enough for me to pay attention and remember them
Australian RSPCA: hey we help animals! Please donate thank you!!
UK RSPCA: WATCH THIS ANIMAL DIE. WE NEED YOUR MONEY OR ANIMALS WILL DIE.
i literally love this vid… ive watched it nearly twice. this is so incredible. kudos
Thank you!!
On the Sandy Hood Promise - Evan one, I actually did the same thing that our Protagonist did, writing on a desk to communicate with an anonymous student. 9th Grade Biology, on a particularly pencil-friendly table. We had a little friendship, until her mom told me to pound sand. It was nice while it lasted, drawing little characters and making them talk.
That's interesting actually
Have you seen that Australian PSA about drink driving where there are a bunch of mates are calling each other pet names like ‘sugar plumb’ and the message is ‘don’t kill the bromance’ or something like that?
Yeah I have seen it, not a big fan of that PSA to be honest
if im being completely honest im an amnesty international stan account. i loveee their psas. and human rights psas in general. but this is a great list man. good work :]
Thats definitely fair and thank you!
Oh maaan I mandela effected myself into thinking that the tentacle one didn't exist! I saw it once in a yt video years ago and no one has used it in an iceberg since until now
personally the worst psa's ive seen is the rsa ones from Ireland, they are much tamer now after the one released up north with the kids on a school trip but they had young me traumatised to the point i still get anxious when i hear the song in one of them
that one smokey the bear ad you showed with the "woman" taking off her mask when he says "if you knew it was me would you have listened" i swear i watched the ad one day at the end of it he lets out a little chuckle i don't know if i was imagining it or it was a mandela effect
We had to watch the “most shocking second a day” psa in school the other day because of what is happening in Ukraine. It was really fast-
Fantastic work, dude. An hour and a half of PSA goodness.
Also JSYK, I streamlined my PSA iceberg. Left off a ton of scary PSAs (including some classics, sadly) but added a few new ones (partially thanks to you). IDK how to share it, though. And I don't want to post it on Reddit cuz then I'd have to explain everything and I don't wanna do that lmao
That's understandable why you don't want to post it to Reddit but also thanks heaps!!
I'm not gonna lie, I love the iceberg format. The way they are set up really helps refresh you with what you know, Then introduce new ones based on relevancy? (I believe that's the word I'm looking for.) To give you places to go next or see if your knowledge can help elsewhere.
I completely agree that's why I wanted to make icebergs about PSAs as I feel like the topic isn't talked about much at all
How do you not have over 100k yet??? Your content is amazing!
Thanks heaps! I am just surprised this video has got as many views as it does atm 😅
But it's good for what it is.
yo I saw the icons in a dvd once, scared tf out of me though when I was younger.
17:12 I just got a lot of nostalgia because i remember that PSA playing before my dark knight rises dvd
Yeah it was on a lot of different DVDs. I vaguely remember seeing it on a DVD but can't remember what exact DVD
Nah bro I also remember seeing it all the time watching it on my portable DVD player but mine was the Incredible Hulk
I used to watch a lot of psas growing up so finding this channel was a gold mine!

so for the “Countdown” psa, the “Only jerks mess with fireworks” was actually originally “You’re an ass if you mess with fireworks”
People say that but the real english translation that SIRE released for the PSAs actually ends with Only jerks mess with fireworks so I see the you're an ass if you mess with fireworks as a myth. Who knows it might be legit
also there’s a slightly alternate version of “Can’t Look”

I think I remember watching the 20 seconds PSA and the Beach Babes PSA when I worked as a camp counselor. We did lifeguard training for pool days, although that PSA got mixed in with clips of actual drowning deaths…. Yeah. Not fun but very effective.
Anyway there was this other PSA, I’m not sure if it was on the list but it was really disturbing to me as a kid. It was called “Shards o’ glass”, it was an anti smoking PSA about a brand of popsicles that contained pieces of broken glass. I think it was also a Truth production.
Yeah shards O glass was a truth campaign that was apparently their most effective campaign which is interesting
Omg that Icon feature just unlocked so many memories. It was on almost all the dvds I watched.
When I was a kid I loved the crash test dummies
I had the toys and the plushies that you could pull apart and stick together
I wish I had the toys. I think the only crash test dummies toys we got in Australia were the hot wheels ones because Tyco was brought out by Mattel and they decided to use crash test dummies for hot wheels
Hey I just stumble on your channel looking up the crash test dummies PSA, you seem like a real hidden gem
Thank you! I am actually kind of surprised that I showed up when looking up crash test dummies PSAs but to be fair I did make two videos about them 😅
Looks like you REALLY liked the "welcome to the battery" psa, haha

@PolygonalPot Thank you so much!
@PolygonalPot Yeah there would be but who knows where they are aha. Some PSAs are extremely hard to find :/
Also Queensland Transport has the Welcome to the Battery title. Just thought I would point out.
Pretty sure Charlie was the cat because it's charlie says and the cat says the thing with the boy translating
@@Tusskie Yeah I legit only realised that after making this video... I don't know how it took me so long to realise unless I just forgot when I was writing the scripts
if i remember right, Padlock has an alternate ending where the worker's stopped by a supervisor before anyone gets hurt. thought it was worth mentioning!
also, some of the title transitions say Welcome to the Battery for different entries, im not sure if anyone else said so.
either way good video! i never learnt about the companies making these PSAs until your channel.
Thanks heaps and yeah I'm aware of the title issue, I forgot to change a few titles haha
ONE HOUR 32 MINUTES! Wow! I’ll be excited to watch this video when I get back.
Im from Canada and I will never forget that MADD commercial with the baby crying called "Emily".
It's funny to watch this because a lot of the PSA's here are ones I covered, so it's like "Oh yeah, I remember that one" xD
That's cool aha
21:18 Woah dude. The new Katamari Damacy looks awesome.
I don't understand the reference
@@Zach.R Katamari Damacy is a game series where the main character rolls up objects - including people and houses - into a big ball.
It's more fun than it sounds.
@@patnewbie2177 Thank you my friend.
god just remembering "My Little Puppy" psa makes me wanna cry, i remember seeing it as a kid and sobbing my eyes out, especially because I grew up around animal mistreatment (no animals died, don't worry) great video btw!!
I remember the Truth PSAs a lot growing up, as they were shown with commercials on TeenNick. I mostly remember the "Sunny Side of Truth" PSAs. There were characters breaking into upbeat songs either making light of or trying to dismiss facts about smoking (much like the Focus on the Positive PSA) complete with genuinely good animations to go along with them.
Only at the end of the song, one of the characters dismisses the song as ridiculous. I liked them simply because of the comedic contrast with up beat songs about a dark subject matter. Whether they can be considered effective or not, I dunno. I never liked smoking in general, so I'm not the best to judge.
no wayy this video is vv underrated :o
keep up the good work!^^
Thanks heaps!!
Seriously, the photograph psa give me a lot of fear. I watch the entire video except the part of the psa
the focal point of the shoe box PSA wasnt the dead bodies, it was the implication that babies and small children are dying and they dont have enough coffins to bury them in, so please send your shoe boxes so they can be buried with some dignity.
I know it wasn't the focal point
I think a really good PSA but also technically an AD was the japanese tire jumpscare. Like legit it had a fucking "not for the faint of heart" warning on it it

I certainly remember being scared by it when I was younger. Then again, I was only nine at the time.
PSAs are one thing that I love for absolutely no reason. It's just such a niche interest, I love it!
For those who are interested you can look up some of the old UK PSA's on TH-cam. Also there are some new Charlie says PSA with David Walliams narrating. BTW archive the cat is called Charlie not the kid.
Yeah I think my pinned comment addresses that, idk why I accidentally said that in the video haha
The old Charlie says ads had a guy named Kenny Everett doing the voice of Charlie who some people thought sounded like a demon. There was a PSA countdown some time ago in my country and this campaign was one of the ones featured along with Apaches. It might be on TH-cam but I don't think it will be if you can find it I woul recommend a reaction video to it.
A disturbing PSA I remember is what first seems like a goofy cartoon kid getting a lil hurt that turns into a real child dying from abuse
Holy shit an hour plus iceberg video on PSAs. Time to get comfy and watch this masterpiece

Awesome video. Always been interested in PSA's.
I'm pretty sure Happy Feet was directed by George Miller, who directed all the Mad Max films, so it is an Australian film.
Subscribed!
Thanks heaps and I am glad that you enjoyed the video! But also that isn't how a film is considered to be Australian, sure George Miller is Australian but a certain percentage of cast and crew have to be Australian as well for it to be considered an Australian film
@@Zach.R the computer graphics were produced in Sydney, so I guess it's an Australian-American co-production.

@@FatherStack yeah, honestly a lot of VFX and stuff are done in Australia which is interesting

the clown in the Argentine alcohol PSA reminds me of a cross between the original Ronald Macdonald and Pennywise
Fair enough, but its from Finland not Argentina (if you are talking about the Monsters PSA)
@@Zach.R thanks for explaining
You should’ve added “Dumb Ways to Die”
I was thinking about adding it but decided not to as it isn't really scary at all
There is one anti-drug PSA I never see discussed, its called Ten Little Indians.
That is definitely an interesting way to see the PSA as the title of the PSA is 'Playhouse' so it definitely makes sense
Yeah TH-cam is biased as fuck but I can't do much about it. Just going to have to start censoring stuff unfortunately :/
Actually, Happy Feet was directed by George Miller (yes, the same man who directed the Mad Max films), who is Australian
I know but it still doesn't count as an Australian film as only the director is Australian and Hugh Jackman.
Edit: did find out it was a joint effort between America and Australia, some work was done in Australia (the VFX) and everything else in America
@@Zach.R ahh. If you ever do a sequel to this iceberg I recommend the “I am a stroke” PSAs from the early 2000s. The one with Michael Clarke Duncan scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Even scarier and more tragic since he ended up actually dying from a stroke.

Bro, I remember seeing those Dutch fireworks PSAs w the hands and the red background when I was younger, that shit traumatized me and still does to this day. Didnt even know the name of it or that it was Dutch, but when that shade of red came up on screen I had to look away because I KNEW that it was those PSAs.
But now I'm very careful around fireworks, so I guess it worked lmfao
Also made me have minor PTSD from seeing that shade of red tho--
They are really getting creative with these names
I was terrified by the Mides PSA when I first saw it, but now I love it.
Minor nitpick: The cat is called Charley.
Fun Fact: The band The Prodigy made a song sampling those PSAs. It’s a banger.
Excellent iceberg!
Corrected it in the new iceberg I posted yesterday that's actually another half an hour longer than this one and has another 70 entries aha
I'm awaiting your video about Truth now lol. I remember they used to be good. The first PSA I saw on TV was the Shards o glass commercials they used to play. They had some ads on the beginning of some DVDs as well. I remember "Splode" being on one of "The hangover" DVDs. Then they started playing those meme ones on TV and on TH-cam ads. I hated the Logan Paul one. I used to change the channel every time I saw those "it's a trap" ads
The idea for the bowling AIDS PSA was a really cool fact. I'd love to know the reasons and ideas these companies had for their PSAs. I wish some of them had behind the scenes videos of how they filmed their ads. I've always been interested in being in a PSA.
I honestly wished they had behind the scenes as well but unfortunately a lot of PSAs don't have much info about them :/

Countdown is probably the scariest PSA I've ever seen in my life. With any other PSA, I could just watch it without any sound and it wouldn't be as scary. Not Countdown tho!
You KNOW this was more than one person! They had to get more than one person who made that same mistake to do this!!!!
