Nostalgia for me since my 1st 1/144 is the NG Epyon, I also have the old HG 1/100 and MG Epyon. Would to see you compare this new RG Epyon to the other versions of Epyon.
Disappointing that it doesn't come with extra hands to recreate the pose from the opening with its hands interlocked with those of the Wing Zero. The Metal Robot Spirits can do it, so it's a shame they didn't think to include that here too.
It's still possible a TV version Wing Zero RG kit will include those parts down the line. And since these RG kits just keep getting better and better, I'm actually kind of glad they're waiting to make the TV version Wing Zero. Fingers crossed it will have an opening cockpit gimmick option, but doubtful.
I have this on pre order from a local shop, and can’t wait for them to get it in. The Epyon was my first MG, and is also my favorite mobile suit, so I can’t help but be excited to finally build the RG.
also how the Epyon transforms into its MA mode is almost similar to the Hambrabi from Zeta Gundam with both involving their legs folded up over the back of the MS and the arms becoming "claws" granted the Epyon is based on a dragon while the Hambrabi is a manta ray.
that's interesting that they made the heat rod out of advanced MS joints because they already had a heat rod in the p-bandai RG tallgeese III that was made by stringing a bunch of parts onto a wire if i remember correctly
Overall fantastic looking kit! Just wish Bandai would have continued including an opening cockpit gimmick in the RG kits, or at least given the option parts to have opening cockpits rather than a tiny bit of added poseability in the torso.
Cool to see the model kit for Epyon. Just so you know, the "gimmick" of Epyon's transformation is that it's Revelation's 666 beast. That's why it has the dragon heads in mobile armor mode. As an additional note, Wing Gundam Zero is both the Archangel and Angel of Death, Alpha and Omega. 👍

The MG has two downsides: One is the annoying and tiny Wing MG kit base adapters which struggle to hold the kits and the other is the four leveraged points of articulation, namely the two arms holding the weapons (weighed down by the big weapons, although the wire helps a ton) and the wings which are not plugged in securely. Bit of glue solves both issues. Besides that it's a nice build. The quality is a little better than the other Wing MG kits, it's not as floppy as they are but it has some annoying nubs, not in the least due to the colored plastics. As far as aesthetics go it's more of a different take than a replacement in my opinion, this one is more anime accurate while the MG is the Endless Waltz redesign. Kind of ironic, but then again this is typical for the Wing part of the franchise, it's kind of complicated to discuss.

I can't wait for USAGS to ship my preorder of this beauty so I can finally build my At Least One Kit of the Year... and hopefully that doesn't become my kit of next year. 😭
Probably not. They haven't been bothered to make a Wing EW Ver Ka, despite the wings already existing for the P-Bandai Deathscythe Rousette, and the body literally being identical to the Wing Zero.
@@noonethatspecial No, that would be the early Wing EW. The one that was so bad they took away the Ver Ka label and changed it to EW. There is no Wing EW Ver KA. That's what I'm saying. They could make THAT, but with the new detailed Ver Ka body and the new wings from the Rousette unit. They just don't.
Im so glad TV version Wing kits are getting the attention they deserve. The TV series is what we all love and remember, im sick to death of over designed, caricature Endless Waltz kits. More TV version kits for Gundam Wing! Ill defo be picking this up!
well, to be honest RG epyon doesn't look like the TV ver, at all :P While MG also isn't 100% accurate, it's proportions and colors are still superior to the RG.Heck, they even got the size wrong, it doesn't scale to neither the HG nor the other wing RGs. But I agree with you, I'm still disappointed that retail MGs are some weird caricatures from manga reboot, while the MS from the actual EW OVA were pushed to the p-bandai. At least HGs are mostly ok, but they too have weird compromises (no gems on Shenlong, weird detailing on Hells head that leaves huge gaps between white and dark parts) and lack the details that MG/RG would have.
@@acidous Is the RG Epyon taller than the RG Tallgeese? RGs are always a little bit of a re-interpretation of the design (and in some cases they do decide to make them bigger, like the Hi-Nu), but they should both be about 4.76 inches/12.08 cm to the top of the head if taking a totally lore-accurate approach.
@@LordofCicadas yes, even RG tallgeese is a lot smaller. Wing kits are usually bit bigger than they should (closer to 1/132 scale, only the old RG Wing Custom was in actual 1/144 size), but even accounting for that epyon is way too big. It should be around the height of the tallgeese, not towering over him. Check this pic from schizophonic review schizophonic9.com/re8/rg_epyon055.jpg
@@acidous Good points. I think the RG TV Version RG Wing Gundam is brilliant example of how good the TV gundam kits can look with the RG “improvements”. I would like to see all the TV series Gundams get this treatment. Imagine a TV ver RG Wing Zero! If I see another angel wing I’ll be sick lol!
gotta say I wasn't too sure about this one when it was revealed, and I still think the feet look goofy as all hell, but I do quite like it overall. The interpretation as MUCH bigger and bulkier than other Wing suits works well, reminds me of ZZ era suits in UC. Though I think I'm still gonna go for the MG.
I'm really hoping that we finally get a HG or RG Gundam Aquarius to go with this as Treize's other gundam design that was supposed to be paired with the Epyon tactically. There's only been SD versions of it though. It also seems like we might get a full line of remixed RG kits for Mars Century stuff, a version of the Wing Zero (EW) and this one are ones that it wouldn't be to hard for the Snow White and the Epyon Ares...the Warlock is probably the only one needing a full design, though the Maganac swarm could be interesting as well. It also feels like a P-Bandai thing
Correct me if I'm wrong. Zechs' beat Char to complete his Mobile Suits in RG. Zechs' already have RGs of Tallgeese 1 (and PBandai TV ver), Tallgeese 3 and now Gundam Epyon TV ver. (Discounting the EW ver., but almost they are the same). While Char only have RGs of Red Zaku, Z'Gok, Zeong and Sazabi,. No Char's Gelgoog and Nightingale.✌️
I wish wing kits were not so tiny ,i feel like this will be the size of the crossbones RG and that is hard for big hands to build ! Kit looks awesome though !
What I love about shoulder-flap armors is you can move your arm forward without rotating the shoulder armor. Makes posing even more flexible.

I no longer have my MG but from what I can remember the wings and legs/dragon heads on the MG aren't as good looking as this RG kit. Its amazing how these RG's can have equal to if not better looks than the MGs sometimes.
I'd hope that with ~12 years of advancements, they'd be able to produce something that looks better. The MG Epyon came out in 2011.
@@TheMattTrakker They need to do a Kai version of Epyon to equal Wing Zero.
I can't wait for USAGS to ship my preorder of this beauty so I can finally build my At Least One Kit of the Year... and hopefully that doesn't become my kit of next year. 😭
Still waiting on mine from HLJ
I never really liked the Epyon's design. Sucks, because I love my RG's and I feel it would be a great addition. Maybe I should just give it a shot.
a hair dryer can remove the stress marks
I have my MG Epyon sitting on my desk next to me.
I wonder if they’ll take this RG design of Epyon, and scale up to a master grade Ver Ka to go with the MG wing zero ew Ver Ka
My thoughts exactly
Probably not. They haven't been bothered to make a Wing EW Ver Ka, despite the wings already existing for the P-Bandai Deathscythe Rousette, and the body literally being identical to the Wing Zero.
@simpleanswer8954 ... Bandai made it in the mid 2000s, and re-released it in the early 2010s...
Technically the MG Wing is already a Ver.Ka. as the design is Katoki's redesign of the Epyon.
It seems like there's a whole lotta folks in Korea who found nasty deformed surfaces on the wing parts.
Imagine trying to paint the heat rod lol
Review mg acguy please
The detail, articulation etc.. all cool..... But the Epyon design and colors make it look like a Cheap Toy Villain...
gotta say I wasn't too sure about this one when it was revealed, and I still think the feet look goofy as all hell, but I do quite like it overall.
The back skirt in mg epyon seperate in both side but in gimmick and detail l rg line way better than mg.
Stress marks on a newly designed kit is really disappointing.
The RG on Epyon beats the MG
I wish wing kits were not so tiny ,i feel like this will be the size of the crossbones RG and that is hard for big hands to build ! Kit looks awesome though !
