Oh Ramin and Serria, the definitive Phantom and Christine. They have so much chemistry with each other in these roles I think becuase neither were afraid to really go for it. They both really put some teeth back into these roles I've seen way too many Christines that become very mousy but Serria's Christine is so passionate and heartfelt in everything from truimpth to grief that when you pair her with Ramin who did not pull a single punch with his Phantom; yes we all Phantom but he is still the villain of the story and Ramin played him like an absolute maniac. Genius and madness. And Ramin and Serria both have a vibrato and they are not afraid to use it!
YESSSSSS We love Ramin appreaciation!!! Would love to see you do more of Ramin in general! It's a long one but down once more is amazing between Ramin, Sierra and Hadley unf fireWORKS
Shout out to the incredible makeup and prosthetics teams on the West End, Broadway, and for this 25th anniversary concert! They work collaboratively with every actor playing Phantom to make sure the makeup isn't too restrictive and that they don't have to worry about peeling up a prosthesis when they sing on stage. Difficult thing to balance (as you say), and they are the best in the business.
Honestly, I don't believe Ramin hasn't been trained. I know he said that. He may not have been trained early in his career, but that doesn't mean it's the same now. In fact, he definitely is trained, his voice is clearly technical and the vocal cords are well maintained.
@@grewicicaRamin has done interviews (the ones with Seth Rudetsky were very entertaining) stating that he has no formal training. He has no idea how to read music and is clueless on the terminology. I love him❤
Ramin is the Callas of the Broadway musical. His sense of drama is unsurpassed, yet he doesn't necessary have a beautiful voice. Although it is a very expressive and powerful voice. His rendition of the "Music of the Night" is absolutely incredible!
He has a "gravitas" (not sure if that really should be the word?) to his voice that draws you in. "Till I Hear You Sing" brings tears to my eyes, it is so raw and brilliant.
What's good for Sierra and Ramin is that they already had good chemistry as they originated The Phantom and Christine on "Love Never Dies," which they did before the 25th Anniversary of "The Phantom of the Opera." One of my favorite songs on "Love Never Dies" is "Beneath a Moonless Sky." Worth a listen if you haven't heard it. Nice reaction. Ramin Karmloo and Sierra Boggess are my favorite Phantom and Christine.
Nice one Nick. Anytime Ramin and Sierra are performing together it is always a glorious masterclass! Hope you get to perform the Phantom one day. That character will certainly change you and you get the fun a waking up glued to your pillow, lol. Take care.
this is easily my favorite musical, and I've been dying to see you react to this. I've loved this musical so much I took time to learn the main song in (French, Italian and Mandarin) the live orchestra and the combination of Ramin and Sierra are amazing. Obviously, they compliment each other SO well, but the thing I love is their non-verbal chemistry, how they're so comfortable with each other and Ramin almost draws out the song of Sierra. I know the Phantom is supposed to "make Christine's song take wing", but this is a great demonstration of it to me. I saw a production of it in Oklahoma City and it's what made me love musicals. I really also would love to hear your cover of the Phantoms part Nick. LOVE THIS VIDEO Side note: the person playing that electric guitar has no right to go that hard! lol
Meh, I’ve had some great Phantoms to be honest. Henk Poort, John Owen Jones etc.. It really depends what you are looking after and prefer. Most of them are terrific
In longer running performances (replica productions) the following parts of the musical are usually pre-recorded: - The Phantom of the Opera, title song. All the singing is recorded. The Phantom’s “Sing, my angel of music” etc are not recorded, and many actors sing along with the song once on stage, but the sound isn’t coming through their mic, we’re hearing the recording. - The Phantom’s notes, in the Notes scenes. - The Phantom’s laughs, when he drops the chandeliers and Buquet’s body. - The Phantom’s lines as Red Death in Masquerade, while he is on the stairs, as he needs to focus on not tripping down them and singing with the large Red Death mask is impossible! His lines to Christine (“Your chains are still mine…”) are live (and the cue for the trap door). - The Phantom’s “seal my fate tonight, I hate to have to cut the fun short…” section. This is one that can vary from production to production. - The “I’m here, the Phantom of the Opera” lines, before the curtain up on Don Juan Triumphant. Also, the “Secure”s in response to “Are the doors secure?” in this section. - The lines before “Il Muto”: “Gentlemen, if you would care to take your seats?…” - The lines before "All i ask Of You": “To the roof…” - The managers’ lines in the chaos after Piangi’s body is discovered: “Oh, my God, my God” and “We’re ruined, Andre, ruined!” - The Overture is mostly pre-taped, with a live orchestra joining in.
Ramin is my favorite Phantom, and then maybe Hugh… (I have to say I don't like Michael Crawford's voice), but Sarah Brightman is still my favorite Christine, although Sierra is good, she and ramin have the most chemistry.
The Phantom's costume and makeup is really going to be uncomfortable and they knew it so they made Ramin rehearse with the full makeup on most of the time so he gets used to it. I have to say I am amazed every time I hear his voice and your reaction when he started singing and you gushing all over, yes same here! Sierra as Christine was brilliant, I can't even stop going on about how smooth and stable her vibrato is and how she sustains her notes so well even though she has to go low and high in a very short amount of time. Absolutely fabulous performance it was and thank you for reacting to it!
7:19 100% guarantee that Ramin and anyone of his caliber practices with the full costume on before performing live. If I was Ramin and doing musical theatre, I would never practice without my costume and make up. Just get it on, you can afford the team to do it. Whats more likely is that you dont have your actual counter-part in the rehearsal with you, so you gotta make do with supporting actors. And yeah look at 11:06, her neck is soft and untensed. No tension whatsoever, she isnt pushing that note. She's letting it out naturally. If you cant hit it, then you cant, stop forcing notes you cant sing properly
Nobody tells me when or when not to speak, so put a lid on it. And don’t call me darling. We will agree to disagree. Can’t wait to see Ramin in Titanic and The Pirates of Penzance.
What about a reaction of Sarah Brightman and Chris Thompson singing it (at Live in Vienna 2008)? You would love their matching and their pop rock opera ❤
If you haven’t seen Anthony Warlow, I believe him to be the best Phantom ever and I’m not alone in this opinion! Anthony is Australian, like Philip Quast he is our musical theatre superstar!
the best Phantom, in my opinion will be Michael Crawford, his tone and the color of his voice are unique and, still in my opinion the best fit for the role
Soprano’s voice is unbalanced! Singing is only balance between word, tone and air... Sound is vibrated air, her vibrato isn’t correct, that’s why her high nots are not accurate. Singing is simple, to gain simplicity that’s is difficult.
@nickhiggsthesinger Have you seen the film version starring Gerard Butler? Although not true to the novel, it's a visual and tidy vocal masterpiece in itself. I'd like to know your review for vocals/singing styles, techniques for ORIGINAL musical stars Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman...my favorite vocalists, although this version was excellent. I agree with you, Phantom of the Opera is the most epic and entertaining musical ever created with this song being only one of it's jewels. I've seen it performed in Florida, England, and Las Vegas. It never disappoints **I'm new to your channel, but enjoy your reviews very much. I appreciate your expressions while watching and listening as they're similar to a friend I knew who played the Cello in the New World Symphony out of Miami Beach in the 80;s. Musicians and Singers hear on a different level which evokes a more ethereal and emotional response. You're very observant and pick up on the special details which makes your reviews interesting to even non-singers. As a retired teacher of English, Oral Interpretation of Literature, and Public Speaking, I relate your teaching to language and speaking skills, so I enjoy your reviews beyond just a musical application. Some of the same techniques and exercises can be used to improve speaking skills. More Phantom songs would be great, b/c can there ever be too much Phantom? Keep up the good work. A new fan!!
Andrew Lloyd webber Prefers The phantom To sound Untraned. It's highly possible That he was singing this way On purpose. Check out some of the other work he has done..
Whether he is trained or not, I don’t have words to describe his voice and how I feel listening to it. It is positively hypnotic with a passion unmatched. He is an actor as well as a singer (watch those hands!) And of course, my favorite Enjolras! Saw him last year in Funny Girl and live at The City Winery in NY last year. His voice might have changed as he matured, but he sure sounded good to me! And he still can still move me to tears with Love Never Dies.
@@elliotretour-_- It simply means I don’t care if his voice is trained or not. There is something natural and magical about it that I adore. It moves me as well as millions of other people around the world. Frankly I don’t need your educated approval and neither does he. We are doing fine, thank you.

Good to know someone else shares my visceral response to Ramin's voice.
So so good
RIIGHHHT?!
His rendition of the "Music of the night" is mesmerizing. I can't stop watching it!
dude has a truly godly tenor voice, like its so good. So much power. Personally I think he is up there with the likes of Pavarotti
This 25th Anniversary production with Sierra and Ramin is my absolute favorite one!❤
More Phantom of the Opera! I want to learn more about Ramin’s and Sierra’s voice please!!!
Yes absolutely! Stay tuned

This is the best version of Phantom of the Opera. My favorite is all I ask of you with the trio. All 3 have a nice blend.

I learned a lot from your commentary. To me, Sierra, Ramin and Hadley are an awesome tri-fecta❣️
This opera gives me shivers
The way Ramin says "My Angel Of Music" towards the end 🔥🔥
Love it when I hear Ramin's incredible voice and of course when I remember he is originally from my country Iran 🤩🤩❤️

Not that you would but if you do listen to "Beneath a Moonless Sky," the version with Ben Lewis and Anna Osborne is the best quality.

I'm Glad someone else is phangirling over Ramin's gorgeous voice like me too.
Not just the most popular musical, but the BEST musical of ALL TIME!

Yes!
You got to react to voiceplay's cover of this, it is a beautiful rendition of the OG one.

Ramin is always the best phantom.
Anthony Warlow is the best phantom imo - his view has been shared by many in the industry 😊
Best musical ever! I love the book as well.
I remember seeing the musical on Broadway with my mom and the atmosphere of a live performance is like *nothing* else 😳
It’s incredible!
I'd love to see your reaction to Dan Vasc's version of Music of the Night!
You'll love "The ballad of jane doe" from the musical "Ride the cyclone", the singer Emily Rohm manages to sing upside down. I would love ur reaction❤
Not gonna lie, the first time i heard ramin’s music of the night, i cried. Actual tears streaming down my face. Never happened to me before. Crazy.

do ramin singing the sequel love never dies
just like woodwind string quartets quintets aggreeing on vibrato and deliberately mistuning sharp or flat so everybody tunes to each other for blend
can a singer do lieder oratorio opera abd theatre in a same career?
Just fyi, the ending is pre-recorded, there is no way a performer can do that 8 times a week. But still, they have to sing it at least once.
It's pre-recorded for the daily performances yes, but here at the Royal Albert Hall for the anniversary special?
remember she has to sing nine performances per week
Christines typically don’t do all 8 shows in a week. That role usually has an alternate that will do something like 2 or 3 shows a week.
can singers control vibrato consciously
Please could you react to Ramin Karimloo Music of the night from this performance 😊
can soloists sing choral

Have you Ever heard Nick sing? He has a gorgeous voice That is very technical and trained.
...He's a vocal coach?
