      It is an awesome feature. Concept come from Palmo HYMER Germany. If you get a chance, Google or TH-cam, these particular vehicles, you’ll see a lot of similarities and worse some of the concepts were adopted from. It’s one of my favorite rigs.

      Based on European rv design. They've been using that style for a long time over there. Many of the " new innovations " in the U.S. rv industry are in fact lifted from European rv manufacturers.

    I agree on the diesel heater. I saw someone is doing that mod as we speak. I’m happy with the propane genny. It’s park service approved. I think the diesels are obsolete now and I’d definitely prefer propane over gas. The ethanol causes too many problems when things set without running.

    Great overview of the Sprekko. Like the new front area. Got to say, I really love our Trekko and the shorter 23’. Someday I’ll mod the front area to an L-shaped dinette area.

      I keep teeter tottering on the idea of creating a new dinette area as well.
      I just saw a post from one of the folks on the FB group That did their bench and it looked pretty nice.

      One thing we thought was cool about the dinette is that it could function as two children’s beds. The front power seats raise up and line up with the extra seats.

    Again Jason & MIchelle, another well-detailed and complete video...thanks! You are really helping folks interested in considering and/or buying an EKKO. So informative!
    One question: when trying to turn around the front seats, do the driver/passenger doors need to be opened (as they do in the Transit version)?
    I watched the Lichtsinn video regarding the M-B Sprinter ("Sprekko") from a few days ago. Very informative and M-B offers some really cool tech options (like sleepy driver detection).
    Plusses: higher road clearance; the larger approach/departure angles; larger rear garage; larger forward lounge area + flexible dining table/sleeping and more inside storage!
    I wish they could offer a TWIN burner INDUCTION portable cooktop (as opposed to the single "burner" cooktop currently offered). Longer mattresses in the bedroom; centrally located A/C. I DID ask Winnebago Marketing Manager ("Russ" [?]) if the Colorado Carefree awning could feature color LEDs (as opposed to only white light LEDs) and there was no answer back about that. Certain colors are less likely to attract insects at night.

    This RV is awesome, the only thing I am concerned about is the cassette tank. We have a 10 gal black tank which has to be dumped approximately every 3 days. The cassette tank would be a lot more often. Did I hear there is a way to connect it to the 3.5 drain pipe so you don’t have to physically dump the tank?

    Great review. Thank you. You’re obviously an experienced Ekko user. Does the interior fit and finish seem reasonable? Difficult to see small defects on camera? Does the cabinetry seem of decent quality?

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, firstly, I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to watch our video and leave a great comment. Regarding your questions, I'll provide my perspective. My viewpoint might be influenced by my ownership of a remodeling company and direct partnerships with two cabinetry builders. When assessing cabinetry, I prioritize construction quality, particularly in terms of assembly techniques like dovetail joints. Material suitability for specific environments and the effectiveness of attachments are also key considerations. I believe soft-closing doors and drawers could enhance the EKKO’s functionality. We made this modification to the doors in our own and it was pretty reasonable.
      I think RV manufacturers leave the upper cabinets pretty open boxes, for end users to discover their own organization needs.
      I think the drawer bottom construction, which currently utilizes quarter-inch particleboard could be improved.
      The open rear cupboards adjacent to the bed offer customization potential; we installed pull-out shelves in ours.
      I can say, the cabinetry has proven durable over 37,000 miles, a testament to its resilience on the road.
      Overall, they are pretty decent. Like in any class C, I wouldn’t expect a Monaco Class A high end build out.
      Let me know if that helps.

      @robsemeniuk2578 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, First let us say thank you for taking time to watch our channel and leave such a kind comment. I apologize for the delayed response. I would agree on the idea that the outdoor kitchen would have been nice. As for the maintenance, especially the oil change cost. The front living space is very generous, I also like the increased room in the sleeping area. Overall, it a pretty nicely equipped Class C, especially for the size.

  • @arisdaddy2001
    @arisdaddy2001 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This is crying for further upgrades. From the factory it should have a diesel heat/hot water system, like the new Jayco/Entegra knock-offs, as well as a small diesel generator with standard dual batteries. Propane is outdated and dangerous compared to non-explosive diesel. The second standard feature should be a quieter a/c unit, such as Truma or Houghton. Really radical would be a 12 volt a/c unit as they are inherently quieter and more energy efficient. My first after-market mod would be helper springs in the rear. Currently it is 2 inches lower in the rear because the rear leaf springs are sagging under the weight of the rear overhang. It will be worse when that freshwater tank has 400+ pounds of water in it. My next mod would be Super Single tires, when the originals wear or date out. Those doing heavy duty off-roading should get the Super tires right away to avoid the risk of caught rocks slashing sidewalls.

    Jason and Michelle, compared to your 23ft Bad Betty, don’t you think the extra 1.5ft (for a total of 24.5ft) would be an issue for parking in town?

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You know that’s a great question and one we’ve been considering heavily.
      Although we spent three days shooting the Winnebago, Sprinter EKKO lifestyle commercial, we we only parked in a Starbucks parking lot one time.
      And that was because the film crew and the art Director needed their coffee nice and early ha ha ha and apparently they were not into hotel coffee.
      We did, however, park in the parking lot of the hotel in Prineville, Oregon, and it fit in the parking spot.
      The back in overhung the curb which was not a big deal because it was just a garden area for the hotel.
      My understanding is that most parking spots are as follows.
      Parallel parking spots (street side) tend to be between 20’ to 24’. Which really pushes the boundaries. But 5” to 6” split between the lines would not be the worst. Of course I’d have a CaTuned Front bumper on it so that if anyone got real close, it wouldn’t hurt the front of my vehicle lol
      Standard parking lot sizes tend to be between 16’ to 20’ and our Transit seems to fit almost everyone. There are a few lots that have some seriously small spots.
      It wouldn’t be as easy as parking. Bad Betty, but I’d make every effort possible lol

      How's the turning radius of Sprinter compare vs. Transit?@@ekkonesters599

    • @dennisjones4156
      @dennisjones4156 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I can't address any states other than Texas (even though I have parked in a number of out-of-state spaces), but as I understand it, the minimum size for a parking space in Texas is supposed to be 9' x 18' and for a parallel space it should be 8' x 22'. I would suspect they would be close to the same in every state. With my 7.5' x 25.5' View, width isn't usually a problem and would be even less so with an Ekko, although it is a little iffy on the street when you step out, but length is a problem anywhere for my View and both lengths of Ekko. I have parked in lots and just take 2 spaces in length. I have also parked parallel on the street and basically done the same. I've never had much of a problem finding spaces and nobody has ever complained about it, but I try to be away from other vehicles and don't park where there are meters... 😁

    • @ekkonesters599

      That’s a great question.
      I don’t know if there’s a diesel generator that will fit in the designated area.
      Definitely have to do some research and it’s been on my mind.
      I would also say that the generator is pretty efficient, and given the overall times she probably need it. It’s never been something that I think would trouble me much.
      We spent three days in the Winnebago commercial and the film crew use the generator multiple times for all the equipment and I don’t think it was until roughly the final day that we finally needed to refill a tank.
      I hope this helps with a great question. I’ll do some research.

    You guys spend a lot of winter time in your Ekko, do you still use all the water systems? How's your experiences with that been?
    I'm interested in the Sprinter version, and using it to base camp and ski out of. I can park it in a hobby shop when not in use. I'll put in a 30A hook up for it also. I'd also add the Truma antifreeze plug during driving.

    • @ekkonesters599

      Hello, thank you for checking out our channel and subscribing.
      Yes, we use all the water systems in all weather conditions.
      Our experiences has been very good.
      My personal recommendation is whichever version you purchase there is a metal plate when you lift up the rear Bed.
      There’s about 10 or 12 screws that hold the metal plate down.
      Underneath that is where most of your waterlines are coming from the comp or all of the valves and City water fill connections are located.
      You can use ROXUL and fill that compartment. That’s what I did on ours. Of course the compartment will stay pretty warm on its own, but it will provide great piece of mind when the vehicle is store and as a possibility, you didn’t get all the water out of the lines.
      However, the compartment where all the control valves is heated when you’re using your TRUMA heating system anyway. Let me know if that answers your questions.

I love your outdoor pullout - my preference actually - but the portable induction requires power and drawer space. Boon docking requires more battery attention then it should have to. Love the big fridge and the dinette actually looks (more) comfortable... Such a clever RV but this version fails where it counts for me.

      Yes, I agree quite an awesome rig for sure with lots of potential for MODS. The trick to not filling the cassette up so quickly is to limit use of flush water. Typically when using the restroom, if you open the “dump”, and then add a little water after “potty business” and close the “dump” opening, you’ll retain more space.
      I heard a little something about the 3.5” hose, But I can’t see any possible way. I think the reference was to connecting the cassette to the sewer hose using the “americanizer” and that way you could dump it easier at a Blackwater RV disposal area.

      @@ekkonesters599 Even if they created a connection from the cassette to the sewer drainpipe would help. We usually only stay in a location from 1-3 days and usually dump before we leave. For me it’s just having to take the cassette to dump it bothers me.
      Other than the cassette the EKKO is perfect in every other way.
