  • This is a close up video of the engine bay of my 1.2L MIVEC 3 Cylinder Mirage G4 SE CVT. With the 2017 they added 4 more horsepower to up it from 74 to 78 horsepower. It also got a new roller cam shaft for 2017 to make it smoother to drive and it really does. The shaking is normal as it is a 3 cylinder and they are naturally unbalanced. I loved my 2015 Mirage and love my 2017 Mirage G4 even more!

    I have the 2015 one, that is ultra reliable up to now. Only had to change front tyres and three sets of windscreen wipers over 60.000 miles (and the fluids of course). No issues with the CVT except the small detail that is too slow going from low to high gear in the first mile after cold start. It had that from new, but it sloooowly is getting worse. When warm, no problems. I saw a report from Consumer reports that the CVT of Jatco has improved a lot since 2014 in terms of reliability and longerivity. I drive the car until it is old and unreliable.

      Hahaha yep! I love it gives them charcter and was the main reason ai bought my Mirages was the uniqueness of the naturally aspirated low horsepower engine as I always loved the 1998-2000 Chevy Metro LSI automatic sedans lol when I started driving in 2002 I wanted one so bad and don’t know why I never got one. I guess cause I wanted to buy new.
      My first brand new car was a white 2002 Kia Rio 5 speed I got new at a Hagerstown Kia for under $10,000.00 they had Kias on sale back then buy one get one free haha and you only paid taxes on the second one and got the cheaper one free. My brother got the 2001 Kia Sephia and I had the Rio lol. Neither were that great lol and the Sephia was really really bad and at the dealer monthly for transmission o/d issues and tough shifting and the muffler would split at the seams every 1,000 miles on the Sephias. That was back when Kia was just starting to improve year by year.

    Is every component under the hood Mitsubishi? For example in my Infiniti G20, I have a Mitsubishi distributor and possibly an alternator. They are both incredibly reliable and have never been replaced. I like the Mirage's warranty and mpg's in the city. Do the rear back windows go down all the way? This car would be great in a big city for zipping around!

    • @kmckenzie2461
      @kmckenzie2461  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Joe Smith Yes to my knowledge this engine was specifically designed for the Mirage when it came out in 2012 in other countries and is 100% Mitsubishi. They have been making 3 cylinders for a while. This is a world engine and is in the Mirage all over and it has proven to be very reliable with no major issues that are common. They also make a 1.0L 3 Cylinder with like 70 horsepower in other countries where as we get the 1.2L 3 Cylinder with 78 horsepower. Earlier US version Mirages had the same 1.2al 3 Cylinder but it made 74 horsepower. When they updated the 2017s they added roller cam shaft and smoothed out the engine at idle, made the suspension lot better, added some sound deadening material, improved steering feel, and updated the interior and exterior styling and materials.
      Yes the windows in the rear do go down all the way and did in my 2015 hatchback as well. The MPGs are great in these cars and when you are just cruising on flat the MPG numbers you can get are insane!
      Like I said before we have been extremely happy with all of our Mitsubishis and the several people I work with love their Mitsubishis and all say the same as me “we will only buy Mitsubishi now”.

She always used the 0w20 Mitsubishi oil and never had 1 issue at all the 5.5 years she had her 2015 Mirage and now issues with her 2019 Mirage G4.?

    Thanks for the video. I don't see power fluid reservoir. Does the car have electronic steering instead?

    • @kmckenzie2461
      @kmckenzie2461  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DK L yes they have electric power steering. A belt driven system takes power from the engine to run it just like the A/C System. You can feel when the A/C System cycles, power wise where as belt driven power steering wouldn't affect it as much but would use a tad bit of the engines power.

      DK L If you want a car that is reliable, feature packed, great on fuel, has a long warranty, and is fun to deive you ahould get a Mirage or Mirage G4. I have owned 2 and my co worker has had her just shy of 3 year. No issues to speak of they are little champs. They also do quiet good in the snow! The 14 inch tires on my 2015 Hatch did a tad better than what the 15 inch ones on my G4 do but they both go good in the snow. I always loved the Metro LSi Sedans (2000) in the Burgandy color but never owned one so these are my modern day Metros haha I finally got to get.

      I really liked my 2015 Mirage ES and 2017 Mirage G4 SE they were neat unique little cars with the 3 cylinder engine being one of my favorite parts. I now own a 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL with Touring Package and S-AWC I got new in October and absolutely love it and its Turbo engine and its 8 step CVT and engine combo is super smooth and refined.

    • @kmckenzie2461
      @kmckenzie2461  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tony coffee from what I read the key to CVTs are keeping up with the CVT fluid changes and Maintenance Schedule. Time will tell but I usually trade every 3 years so don’t for-see any issues for me but the 5 speeds are peppy!!!

    • @ronaldderooij1774
      @ronaldderooij1774 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitsubishi and Nissan have the same CVT. Mitsubishi has less torque and a transmission cooler, Nissan has more torque and no transmission cooler. Nissan's CVT's break and Mitsubishi's (identical) CVT's do no break. It remains important to change the fluid on time (once every 100.000 km at least).

      Scowler Mitsubishi says save all slips of oil changes and such and parts slips and you are good. Now as for a cvt flush I would only have it done by a dealer. My dealer says every 30,000 miles to do a cvt flush. My coworker had her Mirage cvt flushed by the dealer at 30,000 and 4 years old and it was $149.00 not bad. Plus Five Star Mitsubishi is great with covering the warranty and taking good care of our cars during service They change the oil (0w20), change the oil filter, wash the car and wheels, rotate tires, fill fluids, do tire pressure and do a 27 point inspection with print out on brakes, tread wear, battery, starter, lights and more. All this for under $50.00 is amazing!

      joe b I know how to change my own oil but I have all my work done at Five Star Mitsubishi as their prices are great and service is amazing. For $49.99 I get my Oil changed (0W20 Synthetic Oil), Oil Filter Changed, all fluids checked and filled, air in tires, tire rotation, and a good car wash each time. Even though it is Synthetic I have mine done every 6 months or about every 5,000 miles. I know it can go a lot longer I just feel better taking really good care of the car.

      Nope. Look up the 414,000 mile 2014 mirage still running fine with not one engine or cvt transmission issue. These are reliable cars. Many online for sale with well over 100,000 miles and close to 200,000 miles still running great.
      Any car not taken care of or run to death all the time and abused will have issues. The Mirages have great reliability in all countries they are sold in.
