  • In this video I test out some Vallejo Game Washes and see how they take my fancy. They're a heck of a lot cheaper than GW, but are they better than GW?

If you apply this with a brush, without mixing the jar, the wash dries very shiny. But if you mix the jar, the wash dries matte, and looks way better. But yea, it's a trick with the mixing...if you mix too fast bubbles will form and they will immediately dry at the top and you'll have to scoop out dried bubbles. That's the only thing I don't like about this wash, having to mix it carefully or else it won't work right.

It's strange that it isn't more common in hobby shops. Thanks for watching!

I didn’t know that Vallejo did dip products. I used to use the Army Painter dip but it’s very much a blunt tool and normal washes are so much easier to use

Absolutely! I really like that these are just a big tub of normal washes.

Vallejo call it dip, I call it a cheap giant tub of soft black wash!

What is the difference between a wash, ink, and blend?

I think that usually inks are just pigment and binder, though the Vallejo inks may also have some medium. Washes should have all that plus medium and something to help break the surface tension to flow into the recesses. I haven't seen blend as a hobby product but rather a technique used to transition one wet paint to another.
