    Another great video Mike, the yellow wagtail was a nice bonus. Certainly looks as though the Sony is living up to the hype.

    OMG! That's insane! How did you manage to fill the frame with sand martin in flight from the hide? I struggle to even catch a swift in flight from a bench.

    I have a colony on the riverside in my city, they nest in drainage pipes. I use the Olympus in pro-capture high to catch them while flying out of the hole. They are so used to people that I can take photos of them "naked". Unfortunately they have left now. Funny that thousands of people walk by and they don't even notice one of the rarest nesting birds in my country.

    Brilliant! Inspiring Mike! What a great time with Sand Martins! I really hope that Olympus brings a new Camera with first class AF (with better and improved AI for birds eyes). Because I will not invest in a new system. For my work (Real state, Food and commercial web videos) the mft works great! Wildlife and Macro are a hobby, and again, the mft is great. But when we compare with the new Canon and Sony, the Olympus falls behind…

    Very good Mike location is key ! We have an artificial bank for Sand Martins at a local nature reserve, but the hides have only just re opened . Next year may be ! Great to see you enjoying the A1 no regrets yet at breaking the bank then ? Lovely video and tips cheers Mark !

      No regrets on buying it, but hope Olympus catch up on the AF so I can go back to one system. My brain is too old to cope with two systems.

    Another inspiring video Mike. Thank you for sharing and the time spent assembling the "footage". Do you ever use the E-M1X any more? I remember that you totally gave up your Canon gear after finding it impossible to work with two totally different cameras when it came to button positions, features and so on.

    • @MikeLaneFRPS
      @MikeLaneFRPS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I still use the Olympus gear, but two systems is very difficult to do. I only have one lens for the Sony. I am still hoping Olympus catch up on the AF and can just use one system.

    It's sad if the squirrels develop the habit of predating the sand martins' nests. It could have a big impact on their population, and it's hard to know how that could be prevented, as the squirrel is clearly not worried by the mobbing.

      Me too Roger! I have just traded in most of my big Canon gear to move to Olympus - influenced in no short measure by this channel 😊

    Love how to you buy a super expensive camera and don’t have a back up battery 😂 You can charge Sony cameras with an external battery charger like you’d use for a phone through the charging point on the camera. I couldn’t get the fancy new cards for the A1 but found an SD card with good read write speed ok, but I wasn’t doing a lot of high res video nor 30fps bursts
