The first lesson I learned from my mentor 35 years ago was to stop ending my sentences with an upward inflection, but to inflect my tone downward at the end of every sentence. I was a 21-year-old salesman at the time, and when I used that simple trick, my sales tripled in three weeks.
As far as tonality goes, I think instead of practicing how you are saying the question, we should be investigating our intentions. If you are ending a sentence with a questioning tone, it's because your intentions are to ask and NOT state. Work at the root of the issue not the surface. Figure out why you are asking and not stating something and fix THAT. Why waste time TRYING to be something when you can focus energy and resources on actually BEING that thing? Tonality is a symtom.... get to the root and fix that everything else follows.
Perhaps, if I speak in a scripted manner(with plenty of bullet points), you might think highly of me. But, if I get spontaneous and a bit lively, perhaps, you think me a fool.

Normally, I don't instruct someone how to be wise, intelligent, charming and beautiful. But, in your case, I plan to break my silence, my fair lady.
Perhaps, a direct line of communication, will avoid a conversation being all over the map. Of course, this is an untested theory.
